The rules are:

Eat healthily but this isn't a diet, just eat well
Drink less booze. I'm going to go for 6 weeks of NO booze but you can join and just drink in moderation
Do some exercise at least 15 minutes/day, I will be doing as many brisk walks as possible, I don't really like any other exercise
Take your make up off every night
Use sunscreen every day
Get more sleep. I am going to try to be in bed by 10pm at the latest every night

That's it. Who's in?

You don't have to give up coffee, I'm not, but you can cut down. I have a 3tsp cup first thing and then don't really drink it the rest of the day unless I'm at work and people keep getting me Americanos. So I am cutting those out.

I'll join too if that's OK. Was planning a sort of de-tox anyway - healthy eating, booze only at weekend, lots of water etc. Hardly go out ATM so sunscreen an optional extra!!

well the steam has been because of cold - you know, over a bowl with menthol

but even dh has commented on how nice my skin is looking - and the horrid dry patches I had have completely gone.

the serum is here

have been using for a couple of weeks

WideWebWitch · 26/02/2006 15:52

you sure it's not just being pg enid? because I'm not prepared to get up the duff again for nice skin, not that desperate

Giving up coffee is definitely going to be a step too far for me! I drink very strong, black coffee and can drink up to 7 large cups each day! So I will after a few days reintroduce it but simply keep it to one good cup of coffee a day. My dd is dreading life in this house as I am giving up coffee, alcohol and chocolate at the same time! Had the embarassment of landlord climbing over 3 months of recycling to turn my water off yesterday and am back and forth to the bottle bank with the recycling in order to make me feel psychologically purer than the empty bottles show me to be! I am looking forward to getting an exercise dvd out once ds is in bed.

ScummyMummy · 26/02/2006 21:38

Sounds like everyone is either being or preparing to be very very good.
I might try a few more sips of water, I suppose. I always forget about it.

ScummyMummy · 26/02/2006 21:41

Hope you are you all in bed, btw. www will slap anyone who stays up late, I expect.

WideWebWitch · 26/02/2006 22:42

yoyo · 26/02/2006 23:13

You can count me in from tomorrow - Monday. It is almost ten years since having DD1 so quite apt. Feeling especially crap as have had yucky cold all week and need to embrace the Spring (bulbs burgeonoing forth,etc.).

Mazzystar · 26/02/2006 23:18

This is a great idea. Have to start tommorrow though as its already past 11. Am pleased further shopping is also encouraged - I may need considerable encouragement as am congenitally lazy and weak-willed.

CountessDracula · 26/02/2006 23:29

yes agree and I have also started doing foot cream and filing my horrid foot bits every so often in the hope atht summer is nearly here...

L'occitane do the BEST foot cream here it makes them baby soft ahhhh

(the hand one is great too)

swedishmum · 27/02/2006 00:08

Will book cut and colour at Toni and Guy this week - not really sure about other local places. I expect to look fab by Thursday at the latest.

suzywong · 27/02/2006 05:12

Good Luck to You

BudaBabe · 27/02/2006 05:49

CountessDracula - I am doing the feet thing too! Want to get a pedicure but they are so horrible I wanted to improve them a bit first!

Right - am starting today - healthy eating, lots of water and herbal teas. 15 mins on cross-trainer. NO alcohol.

Good luck all!

I don't feel so crap today BUT feel like I have huge bags under my eyes !!!

I have been doing the handcream daily anyway as I have some lovely Neals Yard Melissa handcream that I use because of the amount of gardening I do.

I am feeling relieved as I've recently been drinking wine every night and now haven't had a drink since Thursday and I thought I would struggle.

I am taking a flower remedy that is calming too, plus echinicea, zinc & a multi-vit and min. supplement.

BUT I still haven't started my well intentioned exercise routine and I am finding it quite difficult to drink enough water. Batters well done you for walking for 40 mins! Drinking more water and doing some exercise are definitely my goals for the day

WideWebWitch · 27/02/2006 09:07

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but I drank lots of wine last night and then has ds in with me and then dd woke at 5.30am so I woke up feeling crap and started the day with a bacon sandwich. BUT I am going to be doing Extremely Energetic Housecleaning for most of the day and this will make up for it. Ahem.

Now, I think we all ought to measure out 2 litres of water asap and then see if we've managed to drink it by the end of the day. I think you need to see that you've succeded for motivation.

Batters, well done on the walking, very good.
Swedishmum, you need to actually book the hair appt and report in when you've done so
Bundle, have you done it yet?
Cd, good idea about the feet, mine are horned hooves too. Oh well, starting off so rancid means things can only get better.

Yoyo, take Echinacea if you have any and lots of vit c.
