The rules are:

Eat healthily but this isn't a diet, just eat well
Drink less booze. I'm going to go for 6 weeks of NO booze but you can join and just drink in moderation
Do some exercise at least 15 minutes/day, I will be doing as many brisk walks as possible, I don't really like any other exercise
Take your make up off every night
Use sunscreen every day
Get more sleep. I am going to try to be in bed by 10pm at the latest every night

That's it. Who's in?

winnie · 24/02/2006 12:14

I am in too. (Although frankly need a lot longer than 6 weeks but it's a start!)

Nightynight · 24/02/2006 12:17

I think I'll just try forging my passport, it will be simpler

I'm up for this as I'm going to be 30 this year and dreading it!!

I dont go out much so do I still have to use sunscreen? and I still do a dream feed at about 10/10.30 so cant go to bed until about 11pm.

Pollyanna think the waters a good idea, everytime I see some glamorous star being interviewed and they ask for her secret to her youthfull looks, they always say "watrer" (that's my american accent - say it - bet you sound american)

nightynight think we just had the same problem

winnie · 24/02/2006 12:25

Should we all be drinking less coffee too?
My coffee intake is phenomenal though so any decrease can only be good for me.

Beetroot · 24/02/2006 12:33

WWW, i did this for a month. detox. and I don't look ten years younger, sadly,!!

I think the botox that I am secretly planning might have that effect though.

However I did feel alot better and am still careful about how much I drink.

One good rule is to drink 8 glasses of water a day!

WideWebWitch · 24/02/2006 16:34

Hello everyone, I've been out and have had an bit of an unhealthy start, with Champagne at lunchtime with dh BUT I am starting this proerly tomorrow.
Yes, drinking lots of water was supposed to be in there, absolutely.

Marina and Batters you're too kind, thank you

Cd, I am 40 in Oct too, I must look better by then or it will be v depressing.

Yes to sunscreen every day even when it isn't sunny, you must do.

AND you must try to laugh more so nights out with friends (light drinking only) are positively encouraged

Plus that counting your blessings thing is a good idea I think, so every day you must remind yourself of all that is good in your life.

Suzywong, you can be our personal trainer then. And Cod, you can be Dale Winton.

well I didn't get to bed by 10 last night but other than that I think I'm doing ok.

Beetroot, why does the word 'botox' terrify me? is it an irrational fear?

WideWebWitch · 25/02/2006 15:22

Today I haven't eaten fantastically well but I have had a lie in and am feeling very happy and have drunk lots of water so far. We are going to eat delicious food tonight, like proscuitto and prawns and tomato salad. I am going to drink though. So, how is everyone doing, or are we all starting on Monday?

OP posts:
bundle · 25/02/2006 15:38

my skin is shocking at the moment, convinced it's heating/cold weather combo and spf isn't going to do anything about that, is it? i'll try and drink a little less..even dd1 asked me what i was giving up for lent!

also - need some ideas for Good Haircut as mine is getting out of hand - any pointers? (it's long, probably halfway down my back, wavy, brownish - i'll colour it myself, it's cheaper - and very thick)

snafu · 25/02/2006 15:44

OK, am in. Although will be trying for, ummm, 5-6 years younger as there is no way on earth I'm ever looking 23 again and I know my limits...

Can I start Monday?

WideWebWitch · 25/02/2006 18:57

Snafu, yes, you can start on Monday, me too. We're having new potatoes roasted in olive oil and salt and filled with creme fraiche and caviar; brie wrapped in proscuitto with cranberry sauce; prawns with garlic mayonnaise; tomatoes and a greek salad and Champagne. So I am starting on Monday too!

Bundle, obv I don't know what your hair looks like but hmmm, colouring it yourself is a big no no v often imho - it usually shows. Or are you sure you do a great job and it doesn't? Is it dark hair? Maybe it's ok then! I will get to bed for 10pm as it's dh's turn for a lie in tomorrow so I'll be up at 6am.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 25/02/2006 18:59

Bundle, you can very often get a decent hair cut during model nights at good hairdressers and you're in London aren't you so could try it.

Tinker · 25/02/2006 19:17

But the trick re the 10 years younger thing is that soemone has to say you look 10 years older than your current age before you start.

See, I'm lurking here even though I gag at good you're all going to be.

swedishmum · 25/02/2006 20:34

I'd like to join too - feeling very old right now, even more than my 42 years. I haven't had my hair cut since before baby 4 was born and she's 2! Can't quite manage 10pm bedtime as I'm often up collecting dd1 from somewhere after that but will try my best. Bliss!

puff · 26/02/2006 00:06

WWW, you are looking good for coming up to 40 - little work is needed!!

winnie · 26/02/2006 10:40

WWW, I haven't had an alcoholic drink since Thursday, I've not had a coffee since Friday, my Liz Earle sunscreen arrived yesterday. (I too love Liz Earle Batters). I am eating better, even more fruit and veg. Although I don't feel absolutely in control. I am eating too much bread! I am not drinking enough water. Haven't started on the execise yet and this morning I feel like pooh... which I assume is the coffee/alcohol withdraw symptoms. Onwards and upwards everyone.

Piggiesmum · 26/02/2006 12:20

I think I'm going to have to wait till Monday to start too. I've been very good, going to bed at a decent time but have scoffed too much chocolate over the weekend. Obviously I have to get rid of it before i can start being healthy

suzywong · 26/02/2006 12:21

I 'm going to pick up the pace again on Monday
Went out for very foodie dinner, chuffed and boozed on Saturday Night, but I did remember to take my make up off

I've got 7lbs to go before I'm abso-bloody-lutely gorgeous.

WideWebWitch · 26/02/2006 12:29

Tinker, on a bad day I reckon I look 48, which is nearly 10 yrs older! (Puff, you're too kind!)

Winnie, very well done, keep it up but at least buy decent wholegrain bread if you're going to eat it.

I found my sunscreen today and will start usiing it today as we're prob going for a walk this pm.

Swedishmum and bundle your task for next week (if you choose to accept it) is to book a haircut and colour if applicable, somewhere GOOD if you can afford it. And if you can't, call the best hairdresser in your area and see if they do model nights where a trainee cuts your hair for very little money.

Snafu and all other Monday starters, report to me either end of Monday or Tuesday am. Merci.

Suzywong, you need to say 'Good luck to you' at regular intervals.

Will do, boss.
