The rules are:

Eat healthily but this isn't a diet, just eat well
Drink less booze. I'm going to go for 6 weeks of NO booze but you can join and just drink in moderation
Do some exercise at least 15 minutes/day, I will be doing as many brisk walks as possible, I don't really like any other exercise
Take your make up off every night
Use sunscreen every day
Get more sleep. I am going to try to be in bed by 10pm at the latest every night

That's it. Who's in?

snap re spf, bk!

winnie · 28/02/2006 21:15

Batters, stop encouraging me ;)

I've had two good days.

Taking my makeup off; sunscreen; handcream; gettign a good nights sleep. Still no coffee, no alcohol & no chocolate Shock (despite colleagues taking the p*ss and attempting to corrupt me!) I am drinking 2 litres of water a day. WWW, it is a lot! Woke up feeling full of get up and go this morning (which is great). Skin feels better althoguh I am not sure that it looks any better yet. I am eating well HOWEVER, still haven't done any exercise Blush

hester · 28/02/2006 21:26

Can I be a late starter?

I feel very postnatal and flabby, I've got terrible roots, and my hair is falling out.

I don't drink anyway, and I always wear sunscreen and take my make-up off each night, but I will commit to eating healthily, getting exercise every day and going to bed by 10.

Which gives me 35 minutes to go and do the chores - will read the full thread tomorrow!

ScummyMummy · 28/02/2006 22:14

I'm still up! ner ner ner ner ner.
My feet feel all greasy and yuk from the vaseline. They are disgusting actually.

snafu · 28/02/2006 22:20

Am off to bed now, to pluck eyebrows, apply handcream and perhaps sleep sitting up covered in cold cream and wearing rollers, in manner of Margot Leadbetter...

I did have a crappy dinner Blush but spurned delicious dark-choc covered ginger biscuits for reasonably healthful bio-yog (after watching evil, deceitful Anne Diamond on SlebFlabClub). Am going to be extremely good tomorrow, promise, promise.

Night all!

WideWebWitch · 28/02/2006 22:23

I'm still up but alcohol free and didn't wear make up today so none to take off. Night all, welcome new people!

I'm not doing to badly but could be doing better. Still need to drink more water but resisted all chocolate temptation :o

Hi hester. I remember you from our ante/post natal thread. How is your dd? Most of us October mums seem to be suffering from the hair loss thing at the moment :(. It's normal but such a PITA! It gets everywhere.

winnie · 01/03/2006 08:15

Have woken up again feeling quite bouncy :)
I feel slightly scared of having any coffee now in case I slip back into bad habits!

Wednesdays are long work days for me so staying away from coffee is going to be a real challenge.

Okay
Three cups of tea all day
Loads of fruit and juice
A curry (but veggie and no cream etc)
Toast
Water

No makeup so none to remember to take off.
In bed by 10 - with ds, so up at 5.00....!
Must do something about moisturiser.....

winnie · 01/03/2006 09:41

Batters, I stopped drinking coffee & alcohol at the end of last week. I felt terrible at the weekend but have felt much better in the last three days.

2.5 litres of water a day seems an awful lot! But it is possible although I have chosen not to have the large bottle of water on my desk as that puts me off! I start the day with a mug of hot water and lemon, make sure I drink 3 x 50 cl bottles of water throughout the day and a large glass of water with my evening meal. I drink 2-3 herb teas throughout the day. It seems to be working.

What is NOT working is getting my head into doing some exercise! I am very overweight and need to exercise... I used to walk everywhere but having moved house I don't need to walk very far at all. I've always felt relatively 'fit' despite being overweight but now I don't. I even like exercising once I start but I keep putting off getting started! Any tips?

bundle · 01/03/2006 09:47

only had one beer last night (tricky day at work yesterday) and on my 2nd cup of tea of the day so far...no breakfast yet. forgot to put moisturiser on this am..might be able to find emergency pot in desk. i think you're right re:spf in creams..after all the sun is so low in the sky in the UK that your skin can't make any Vit D Oct-March...The cold/wind is shocking though.

yoyo · 01/03/2006 10:27

Excellent all day but drank rather too much wine last night. Today is a new day though and the sun is shining so am optimistic that this will be a good one!

WideWebWitch · 01/03/2006 12:15

Piggiesmum, well done on resiting chocolate. I think it should be allowed actually but only good quality 70% cocoa stuff, I had some last night and it's true, you don't want to eat much of it because it's so rich, I had 2 small squares. There are antioxidants in it, I'm sure.

I went to bed at midnight, oops. Watched 24 you see and there's no way you can sleep after that so came here and Got Involved. As you do. Earlier night tonight, definitely. Bollock me if you see me after 10.

Batters, I reckon you generally do feel worse before better as winnie says, it's true for me esp re giving up wine, definitely, but worth it a few days in ime. Winnie, I reckon the odd coffee's fine, it's loads we're trying to avoid.

Remember, we have to feel good too!

So, Batters, drink as much as you want at the weekend, I reckon the net effect will be good because of spending time with friends = good for you.

Blackduck, yes, get moisturiser, it eeally makes a difference.

Swedishmum and bundle, update on your hair please.

I've just had a gorgeous salad for lunch with mackeral and beetroot.

www, still haven't booked in for hair...will try and do this afternoon. i will still dye it myself (despite your good advice Smile) because it is dark and the organic stuff i use is pretty good.

winnie · 01/03/2006 12:40

Hurrah! Feel great! In my lunch hour I walked 3.2 miles… (early lunch due to hell of an afternoon ahead). I remembered I had picked up a map of a local walking route at the leisure centre ages ago. The walk starts very close to my house (my job is home based - although in reality I spend 3/4 time elsewhere... but it has it's plus points Grin). Was glad to find the map at the bottom of a kitchen drawer and extra glad that the distance was stated: 3.2 miles! The estimated time to walk the route is given as an hour. I did it in 50 minutes and I am feeling very pleased with myself. It got me away from my desk and out into the sunshine and took me along a beautiful riverside & an old railway path I’ve not walked in years. Feel energised and hopeful that I've broken through my lack of motivation re exercise!

WideWebWitch · 01/03/2006 12:41

all right, I'll let you off bundle, just don't start cutting it yourself

WideWebWitch · 01/03/2006 12:42

OP posts:
bundle · 01/03/2006 12:42

oh bloody hell, no way! (actually I have been known to snip at a fringe in desperation! Grin)

eemie · 01/03/2006 12:54

Bad start - missed breakfast yesterday, then lunch, so ravenous when went for petrol and ate chocolate in car. Did drink wine. Up till midnight.

Not all bad though - braved bitter cold to walk into town with dd, only drank 1 coffee all day, had salad for tea, drank plenty of water and lemon tea. Moisturised and handcreamed.

Hard to exercise in these temperatures, shrink at thought of wind cutting through me.

Gingerbear · 01/03/2006 13:02

I am late, but I am in. Have lost 5lb on WW - my sis, SIL and I are going to weekly meeetings.
I have adapted Asian diet - for the last 7 days I have eaten stir fry or Thai style soups for dinner.
I am eating vast quantities of porridge
I am trying to walk the dog daily
I am trying to remember to drink lots of water
Still drinking, but only one glass with dinner
trying to get to bed before midnight.

Am fair, fat and 40+ and want to stop the rot before I go down the pan.

Blackduck · 01/03/2006 13:09

can anyone recommend a moisturiser - pref without loads of dodgy chemicals...had a look in a health place today and couldn't decide..

so far today - half a litre of water,
grapes, seeds
Wlaked about 3/4 mile to work...
