good work NY. tried to post this I always forget to look at thread numbers

Ha good one Verity

Chocolate game: Everyone sits in a circle, need two dice. When you roll a double six get dressed in scarf, hat, gloves and start to cut a bar of chocolate with a knife and fork to eat. Hand everything over when next person rolls a double six.

Fast, funny and frantic, used to play when we were little around aged 6. I looked it up the other day for ds1, but the children said they were all too full of party food to play a game that involved eating chocolate! (sensible little children they are)

Portia you are making me want a Burberry trench too

ok moany 2 year old sheesh. Puddle run in order

FritziGreenEyes · 25/04/2012 12:49

Thanks for starting a new thread notyummy!

Swung by Zara on my way back from the post office. Have bought the pink boucle jacket and a navy linen T-shirt.

Weather forecast for Saturday is 26 degrees here, wooho!

Hopefully · 25/04/2012 12:55

Phew, have dodged hailstones and arrived safely home!

NY the time commitment is pretty big, isn't it? But I am a stay at home layabout, so i could probably find the time fairly easily if I actually do washing up and laundry etc while the DCs are up instead of once they're in bed Blush. Am tempted, will keep an eye out on ebay.

I want chocolate now - running in the wind and rain this morning really took it out of me!

MarshaBrady · 25/04/2012 13:05

Oh I love that Fritzi

Um bit wet for the park I could quite go for a cosy open work place right now.

Karbea · 25/04/2012 13:10

fritzi I bought a couple of linen t-shirts one in black and one in white. I only tried the white one on in store, wearing the black one today and it's huge! I will keep as looks nice baggy with a vest under, but not what I was expecting... what do you think of the sizing?

Is it really due to be nice at the weekend [hopeful]?

FritziGreenEyes · 25/04/2012 13:14

karbea I bought my usual size in Zara (medium) as I wanted the T-shirt to be slouchy/worn with skinnies. Having a wobble re the size of the jacket though as I bought a small because I felt swamped around shoulders/chest in a medium Hmm

notyummy · 25/04/2012 13:26

Fritzi is in Germany Karbea- not sure where you are?

Am jealous of that forecast Fritzi!

Russianred · 25/04/2012 13:36

Thanks for the new thread NY.

Very lovely Fritzi.

Hopefully whenever I get my hair cut it always rains. Without fail. So annoying.

Suburban maybe have a load of dressing up things? That's all they wanted to do at DS's 2nd birthday.

Very interesting article Verity.

I just found (well, looked for it, obviously) this thread about my article, for your amusement. I got rather badly flamed.

VerityBrulee · 25/04/2012 13:37

I have that one Fritzi I love it! I saw v similar shape in pale pink a few weeks ago, but when I went back they were gone. I was kicking myself. They are a great shape and weight for me, cardigan substitutes really.

We'll have to try that game out Marsha

Portia What are your dds top tips for glamorous dressing in the rain? I was going to wear pink chiffon and silver Manolos, but may end up in oilskin and my glamorous wellies

Karbea · 25/04/2012 13:39

Umm I bought my normal size both are slouchy, just one more than the other.

I tried on a jacket as well, they've some lovely ones in there at the mo (love yours), in a small and medium and couldn't decide so left them, hoping my DH will pop in with me soon so i can get a second opinion...

Karbea · 25/04/2012 13:39

notyummy oh... 11 and rainy here apparently in Gerrards Cross - boo!!!!

NotSoGrumpy · 25/04/2012 13:47

I'm feeling very fed up of all the rain, got soaked on the school run and have been at home since. I thought it would be sunny today because I bought the navy banana republic trench that everyone here gave a thumbs up to yesterday but no such luck. Oh, and now I've just heard thunder!

I need to go to the post office to return a French Connection order, got the DMBL40 top and it's a bit big but looks good with coloured skinnies. Also ordered this top which is a lovely deep purple, very different to how it looks online. It's going back because it's very draining on me but it's a lovely top and would look great on anyone who suits dark purple. Made me think (again) that I should get my colours done, I'm just terrified I'll be told that everything I own is the wrong colour and that the colours I love don't really suit me.

suburban just another party idea, a treasure hunt with chocolate coins is always popular. Oh and the lady who does 'Style Guile' is also doing a photo shoot for the Daily Mail, guess it's for the same piece.

marsha I love the chocolate game!

fritz I love that paint colour, we're getting some work done on our house over the summer and then it'll need repainting. I'm currently feeling a bit overwhelmed by paint charts and options, think I need to get some samples and get a better idea of what would work. I love this book for inspiration about what colours would work together.

NotSoGrumpy · 25/04/2012 14:01

Oh and 20% off at French Connection till end Saturday with code STYLIST20

Decameron · 25/04/2012 14:35

Hi all, hope you are enjoying this gorgeous weather. Wink

Glad you are having a good break, Ants.

Gosh, Red, some very rude comments but I liked your response.

Suburban, hope your DD enjoys her party. My DD1 cried throughout her second birthday party but her little guests enjoyed the balloons, chocolate coin hunt and bubble machine (ELC does a good one). Looking forward to reading the article.

Did you keep the blue dress, NY? I thought you looked great in it.

Finally started shredding today, as NY said being tall hides a multitude but I really need to tone up, so hope shredding really does work as I can't get to a gym at the moment.

Fab Manolos, Verity, as are your new shoes, Mominatrix.

Went out with DH on Sunday night and wore my new pistols. He liked them but asked how much they cost and was horrified. I had two glasses of wine so forgot to knock a bit off the price. Ooops. I am keeping a low profile, shopping wise, for a while but I do want a couple of Isabella Oliver tops. Anyone have a code?

Thanks for the code, NSG. I might order the long sleeve version of that FC top.

Lovely jacket, Fritzi.

Russianred · 25/04/2012 14:38

STYLE20 for 20% off Decam, what are you buying? They were a bit rude weren't they?! I am going to establish a Pistol savings account once I start earning.

rufus101 · 25/04/2012 14:44

Ooh, that must have hurt Red. I hate the frenzy that seems to descend on those kind of threads.
FLE thanks for the assessment! I was a bit perplexed by the fluoro / acid yellow suiting me, as I was thinking "surely that's a spring colour" ( clearly picking up some bits of info from you knowledgable ladies)
Bloody hell. It is bucketing down here. I want to go home and bake something nice. Comfort food.

rufus101 · 25/04/2012 14:46

Hope your one goes well suburban, I'm sure it will. I liked your retort to the hack "I don't"! She can't manipulate that!

Decameron · 25/04/2012 14:57

I think you're a winter too, Rufus. Not that I have had my colours done myself!

Thanks Red for the code. I want to get this and ditch the Boden bretons which look really shabby now, and maybe one of the long line tops that my heroine DMBL40 wears! One of my friends was on Location Location Location. She was slated on Mumsnet. I didn't tell her, obviously, and not sure if she reads this website. The tan colour pistols is getting quite stained from the rain but I like to think they'll look better battered.

Off to ballet with the DDs.

rufus101 · 25/04/2012 14:59

Waves to Decam. I was showing the pistols to a friend, she showed me the KG which I know are very similar, and just couldn't understand why I preferred the pistols! I think it's the slight design on the pistols. Very subtle, but it makes them a little more stream lined. (I'm probably just a sucker though!)

rufus101 · 25/04/2012 15:00

LOVE that IO top Decam

Decameron · 25/04/2012 15:01

Rufus, I am definitely a sucker!

Grrr, the IO code doesn't work. I'm sure I got an IO catalogue with a code in a magazine last week but threw it out.

Decameron · 25/04/2012 15:02

I was distressed to find that I am actually a pear shape (put my measurements into the site mentioned on another thread) so I think I need to smarten up the tops and get rid of the boyish, shapeless ones.

MarshaBrady · 25/04/2012 15:05

I loved my pistols and am going to get a 2nd pair in the sale. I'll be at a different school by them so can re wear to death.

Decam I'm sure I saw a IO code kicking about in S&B I can't find it on iPhone right now.

MarshaBrady · 25/04/2012 15:11

SPREE43 for 43%

not sure if it's just maternity

blue2711 · 25/04/2012 15:23

Hello! Grr to the rain. I have that Burberry marsha and love it. No effect on the incessant downpour though.

I remember that article red! I read it just a month or so into my SAHM decision and i too was second in my secondary English dept and it resonated with me very keenly at the time. Loved your response to the flames. YY to everything you said. Interesting how people often call informed choices 'lucky'. I am certainly lucky that I love teaching but I definitely chose it partly because it would work so well with a family.

Kenneth jay lane turquoise earrings arrived and think I like them but hard to judge when they look so incongruous against grey skies. No neon pink bag yet but am sure will feel equally inappropriate at the moment.

Anyone else refusing to accept that it's actually cold and wintery? Wearing peppermint skinnies, white oversized tshirt, stripy boyfriend cardigan and aggies and probably looked very silly out and about this morning, despite the Burberry!

Going to Bicester on Friday with a friend and our babies and beyond excited. DH has given me some money in case I spot anything I want and I'll probably get some RL bits for DS. Any tips as I've never been before?

suburban I'm really excited for your DM appearance and crossing my fingers they present you as the stylish and lovely person that you clearly are. Wear the peplum top; I love that. Do you have the peppermint skinnies too? They could work...

I'm still mulling over the IO dresses decam but need a 20% off code too.

Jealous of all the Zara jacket purchases but I actually own more jackets than hopefully does items in her whole wardrobe (so admiring of this btw!) so have strictly forbidden myself to buy any more. Have also put embargo on any kind of stripy top or white summer dress. So far so good but it's only April...
