Ah, rufus happily DH is handsomely insured courtesy of our workplace should he cark it, god forbid.

Maybe I'm just not that ambitious, I don't know. I used to work for a big (and very popular with W&A) retail firm, and it was the only job I've ever been really good at and really enjoyed. When I applied for a fast track management course I got the highest assessment scores ever recorded, so I really was made for it. Shame the hours were so incompatible with childrearing or I'd go back in a heartbeat....

AmberNectarine · 25/04/2012 20:56

I said those jeans KM wore were 811s at the time, but the DM thought they were Zara. Ha.

Karbea · 25/04/2012 21:00

ants I've ordered that scarf, I'm blond so hoping it doesn't make me look washed out.

blossom I used to be the same with lipsticks, but I now only (mostly) buy cheapies. That's very odd about the kerastase, I've used it loads of time and doesn't make my hair go like that.

I don't know how I feel about coloure jeans, I think I fancy some red ones, umm not sure, should probably go pastel as it's supposed to be summer... I got some leopard print ones from primarni yesterday, big step for me haha!

Karbea · 25/04/2012 21:01

God I hate my job, I can't wait ti be a housewife!

Wise words NYE. I love La Portas, though I imagine our lifestyles differ a tad - DH isn't a contributing editor for Grazia for one thing

blossoming · 25/04/2012 21:11

I am tempted to buy this to wear to a party with skinnies and toucan scarf (it's a day party 1-3). Love the green skirt too, and the shoes, and the bag. Good job I haven't been on the wine.

Karbea · 25/04/2012 21:13

first yes that's me :)

I think you are right about ambition, I'm fed up of doing a corporate job,but I'd really like to give some value to a charity, or do some free work for a small family run company or something... Mostly I just want to look after my gorgeous husband full time!

bretonbee · 25/04/2012 21:14

hello all - I am also having a large glass of wine and giving myself a night off work/exercise/general stress and STBXP is out so all is calm...have been a bit mental on running or shredding every day culminating in yesterday working a 12 hour day in the office, then going to the gym and arriving home at 11p.m. after almost fainting on the tube as no dinner. Felt like I was having a mental breakdown! This whole situation is sending me a bit manic I think but tonight am trying to be a bit more zen.

Loving all the links though - really love the jacket and scarf ants (note to self must get colours done) and the gorgeous Rupert Sanderson shoes Mom. Also loved that Burberry trench Marsha. I have this shiny blue short Burberry trench which is quite funky but I once wore it in the rain and got completely soaked so it is really an entirely useless piece of clothing.

Not much S&B here...my DMBL40 FC top arrived, I got the small and it looks enormous but haven't tried it on yet. For £8.00 will be keeping it anyway Grin.

Very impressed by all you ladies in the press. Good luck with your photo shoot surburban - I'm sure it will be great. Had a quick skim of that threat and loved your response red and very Envy of how young you are!

decam have a good evening, hope DH doesn't keep you waiting too long. I hate it when am all dressed up and just waiting to be able to go out.

Good luck with the DM interview suburban. Hope your eczema has cleared up/ is clearing up. I'm sure you will look gorgeous as you are v photogenic.
I think you will have to be v careful not to make throw away remarks with the DM as they are bound to pick on them and magnify them 100%.

red- I didn't see the Sunday Times piece but agree with the others that you do write v eloquently- future career? I like the waterproof jacket actually.
I was thinking of the KG sweeps too. I can't decide whether it is daft to get Winter boots now but then it keeps raining and raining so that is all I am wearing, except for work.

ants- lovely colour scarf and great jacket too!

rufus- you are v brave! I expect the adrenaline really kicked in.

bloss- I also ordered the Kerastase and it seems fine on my hair. Previously, I have been using Treseme (?sp) and Aussie conditioner for ages.
I think one has to be careful with pink jeans (sausage potential for me- probably not for you though)!

decam- hope you manage to escape tonight

fritzi- have a great time at the sample sale.

reine- I know nothing re interior design. I became interested in it when we bought our first house (6+ yrs ago). I have no idea whether I would be any good at it. I have always loved beautiful things, whether scenes in nature, beautiful fabrics, colours, music , etc
The trouble with a career in Medicine is that it takes over your life and makes it difficult to develop other things. The majority of my close, long term friends are doctors still just because of the unusual nature of the job and the amount of time we spent together previously (hardly get the chance to meet up now).
I was told by DH last night that I am not v ambitious and that I am v lack lustre re my career. I have to admit that he is right at the moment. I think various things have contributed to me feeling like this (one, in particular was v bad luck). I think having no let up in childcare arrangements doesn't help either as it really restricts my ability to for CPD- courses, evening meetings, etc. Hopefully, these kind of things all get much easier as the DC grow up!

rufus101 · 25/04/2012 21:19

Love that ENTIRE outfit Bloss, have very similar red Pedro Garcia sandals. (wonders if she can do an approximation outfit)
So well said NYE, nailed it in one.
Decam hope you make it out in time. If you met me there, I'd be a sure fire bet to persuade into having some prosecco!

NotSoGrumpy · 25/04/2012 21:20

red it's not that I don't like the KG sweeps, I just don't love them... I'm fussy you see.

amber I think the best thing to do is make the right decision for you and your family now, it's so easy to get so obsessed about the future that you don't enjoy what's happening now.

I had a good work meeting yesterday, i'm pleased with the role I've been offered and I want to go back - I like my job (most of the time) and my colleagues plus I'm looking forward to other aspects like the odd lunch break, going to the loo on my own. I'm just not cut out to be a SAHM, I find it hard and it can be quite lonely and take my hat off to anyone who can do it for years.

Oh and then I had a lovely child-free wander round the shops on the Kings Rd. Didn't buy much - a beach bag for our hol, BR trench and Liza Earle stuff. Saw this which is lovely but not for me.

decam have a lovely eve, outfit sounds fab.

Karbea · 25/04/2012 21:21

first haha I'm definitely not a feminist, I think I'm just so fed up with my job I just want to leave the corporate world for a while a do something different. We dont have children yet( failed ivf) the plan was always I'd be a sahm, so I guess I'm just longing for that, and so far it's only dh and the cats at home to look after :(

Russianred · 25/04/2012 21:25

Amber it sounds like my new preferred career direction may tally with the one you left. Interesting.

Breton sounds like you need this evening to not do very much. I am relatively young, I suppose. It never occurs to me until people tell me I am!

You'd wear that an awful lot I think Bloss.

My beloved Ash Virgin buckle high tops are letting in water via the sole and I can't find a 38 anywhere for love nor money - have put a veto on spending, but these are a complete necessity. Can any of the excellent searchers find a pair for me? Need to be leather.

In clay russian red

Russianred · 25/04/2012 21:30

I may be out of line here Looby, but hasn't your ambition been a little impeded by DH's pursuit of his? Imagine it is very hard for two of you to be ruthlessly ambitious with 3, nearly 4 children. I may not be reading it correctly, but I may have been a little peeved by that comment. Know exactly what you mean about the Sweeps, although you know that you would buy them and then the sun will come out and not let up for months. Do it for us!

Karbea can imagine you feel a little bit in limbo at the moment.

NotSoGrumpy · 25/04/2012 21:31

red what color do you want? They've got pale brown and metallic in 38 on My Wardrobe.

Russianred · 25/04/2012 21:31

Thank you Karbea! Anyone have some kind of non-exclusive My-W code knocking around?

Russianred · 25/04/2012 21:33

And thank you NSG - clearly I hasn't searched that high and low..!

NotSoGrumpy · 25/04/2012 21:33

karbea sorry about your IVF, it's such a tough thing to go through, one of my v close friends is about to start her 2nd cycle.
