Hi all!

Sorry about the rain/hairdo situation Hopefully.

I am eating G and Bs Mint dark choc as I write Verity.

Bloody cold here. And wet.

CHOOGIRL · 10/05/2012 22:10

Bloss buy the choos. Not sure if you remember but I wore these to the first ever W&A meetup They don't get out much, but I don't ever regret buying them.

blossoming · 10/05/2012 22:20

choo, good to see you. I do remember those choos. I'm in London soon, and may buy them. Haven't bought choos shoes in years. Just boring, flat, functional, work appropriate, m&s copy.....
Dull indeed. And DH has said we can go out soon, and to the races aswell, although won't wear stilettos to the open course!
Thanks for the link hopefully. How does it work?

Portia4 · 10/05/2012 22:23

Pickled I think my life sounds better on paper than it really is. I am the elder lemon of the thread and hence my Dcs are further down the road which makes coming and going (and sleeping!) much easier, but day to day I'm on the same threadmill as everyone else, balancing work with school runs and housework and shopping! I was a SAHM for 17 years (child bride Wink).

blue2711 · 10/05/2012 22:34

Ooh, so excited by thought of DC reunion! Am a huge Pacey fan Blush. Interesting how Michelle Williams is so much more attractive and slim now than when she was younger.

Love that gap stripy skirt. Have long yearned for a tube style maxi in a plain bright colour but have never yet seen one.

DD survived injections cheerfully and am hoping tonight will be night 3 of sleeping through (and then will try to stop going on about it).

Night everyone.

Fecking typical. Sun shines, kid has chicken pox and renders me housebound

Portia4 · 11/05/2012 08:00

Oh dear Amber sorry to hear that, I found Eurax very good for eliminating the itching on the spots. You maybe housebound but I'm sure that you'll be well dressed!

Today is last day of midterm for DD3, she has been off all week, I'm going to try and take a half day and do something with her this afternoon.

notyummy · 11/05/2012 09:37

Hope the work got done and you managed at least a few hours sleep Annie.

Depending on how bad the Pox is Amber, the pharmacist may well be able to help. We got some antihistamine for the itching that had the bonus of making her sleepy so we used it at night. Although I think we got off lightly tbh.

Hope you have a nice afternoon Portia.

Sunshine and showers here but forecast looks more settled for the weekend - which is good because we are meeting up with all our NCT group mates/children on Sunday for a picnic. So far so good with the weather forecast.

Am a bit gutted because I have just discovered that Tim Minchin is doing an outdoor session at a stately home about 10 minutes drive from us next month - and typically it is on a night we have already got tickets to go to a ball with friends. DH really, really LOVES Tim Minchin and it would have made a great early birthday present. And given that we live in the sticks, it is pretty rare that we get high calibre entertainers on our doorstep.

Think I may debut the new Zara top later on today. Currently in fetching exercise leggings, t shirt and fleece combo before starting a double JM session shortly.

That's a pity, NY.

Agree most magazine articles are rubbish, I still buy Grazia though and I hate myself for it!

Fab shoes, Bloss. It will be nice to have time to yourself.

Annie, you work so hard. Hope you have a nice weekend and recuperate.

Suburban, my dad is from Temple Bar, my grandfather had a pub there (the Foggy Dew, for locals) when it was full of tenements and a deprived area. My dad and uncles hated it, it made them very ambitious and they worked like a demons to make sure they would not be there as adults! He just could not understand why my brothers and I used to hang around there. Things change! Shame they sold the pub.

Does anyone have Goat knitwear? The cardigan I want to buy is dry clean only so I'm wondering if I can hand wash it.

Decameron · 11/05/2012 10:38

Amber, I like your stripey buys. Hope DS isn't too itchy. I wore sandals out earlier and froze.

Have a nice afternoon, Portia,

notyummy · 11/05/2012 11:12

Just been having a quick squint at potential MU flights. I am not sure how many people potentially going to the MU are in my position (i.e in the east and/or London) - perhaps just Fleecy? Annoying the only airline that flies from Stansted and Luton is the dreaded Ryanair and they don't appear to have any prices up yet, although timetable shows plenty of flights for the dates in question. Aer Lingus has flights from Birmingham - and Fleecy - they also fly from Southend, which I thought might be doable for you? Prices aren't outrageous either.

I bloody hate Ryanair, and I am cross that I can't find out any prices.

OP posts:
blossoming · 11/05/2012 12:12

Same for me notyummy. Will fly air lingus as the Ryanair flights aren't up yet. From Manchester.

notyummy · 11/05/2012 12:18

I meant in the East and/or north of London. I know there are plenty of you in the big smoke!

Bloss - I'm kind of glad that it just wasn't me being an idiot and unable to work the Ryanair website. Of course there is nothing useful telling you when the winter schdeule tickets go on sale.... Hmm

have a stinky cold at the moment as does DD2 so thank goodness the weekend is on it's way!

hope your little ones aren't too uncomfortable amber DD2's dose was very mild.

red can you believe there is an oxford reader with a 'baddie' who wears a red breton with mint trews!I love the mint jeans but have so many coloured jeans with minimal sun so will resist!

though having said that had a business forum meeting on wednesday where I 'just popped into Primark' and proceeded to buy 4 dresses, nail files, coloured pencils and floral trousers for less than my topshop polyester order so will have to be excellent dress if not to return..

another fan of portia here..I love to see how you enjoy your daughters' company and that the teenage years have their own (shopping!) joys.

love the choos bloss I do like my shoes over bags though.

blue I keep meaning to say your outfits sound wonderful,no wonder your DH made the comparison..also if it makes you feel better I got through The OC with DD2's feeds!

ollie that is the (deathtrap) den my girls love to make.

pickled how amazing DD was in the running, you must be so proud.hope more exciting jobstuff comes your way soon.

off to do some halfhearted tidying.

ReineDeSaba · 11/05/2012 12:23

oh and dec I ruined a marc jacobs cardigan by not drycleaning so won't take the risk unless it's highstreet prices

suburbanstyle · 11/05/2012 12:40

Sorry to all of those with poorly DCs.

Grin Decameron my inlaws are the same about terraced houses.

NY we fly to Dublin/Cork a lot from Birmingham, and there is usually very little if any difference in price between Aer Lingus/Ryanair, but Aer Lingus is just so much nicer.

Am thawing my feet out now after optimistically wearing ballet pumps to the park.

MarshaBrady · 11/05/2012 12:56

Oh dear at ryanair being so crap! I haven't used them before. Oh well.

I am too last minute to book Dublin yet. I know, probably a bad habit.

Annie you know you should increase the days your cleaner comes. You and your dh are busy now, I'd try and make things as easy as possible.

Decameron · 11/05/2012 12:58

My DD1 always points up at the Aer Lingus planes coming in to Heathrow and shouts "Hello Grandpa"! I go with them rather than Ryanair.

Thanks, Reine, I don't think I'll get it as can't be bothered to have it drycleaned each time I wear it, and I seem to recall Apuski saying the cotton ones stretch.

Decameron · 11/05/2012 12:59

Ryanair are ok if you are on your own, Marsha but I wouldn't fly with the DC with them. They won't help if there are any problems/delays so get travel insurance.

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2012 13:00

Thanks for get well wishes all. He only has a handful of spots ATM an seems in fine fettle. Eaten a huge lunch and flooded the downstairs bathroom while I was putting the baby down for a nap. Really hope she doesn't get it too badly.

MarshaBrady · 11/05/2012 13:06

Thanks Decam good tip. I think I did, but then entered so many details on crashing websites I can't recall. I will check.

Amber it will be great when it's over with, hope your little baby is ok.

MarshaBrady · 11/05/2012 13:08

Ah I did, phew.

AntPants1 · 11/05/2012 16:31

amber you might find that as you are BF your DD either doesnt get the pox or gets it very mildly. My DS caught it when he was about 7 months and had it very very mildly. Fingers crossed for you.

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2012 16:44

ants that is what I am praying for, though she seems to get everything worse IYKWIM, so not too hopeful. Suppose it is best they get it out of the way so that when I go back to work there won't be the threat of having to take a week off each time!
