Hi all!

Sorry about the rain/hairdo situation Hopefully.

I am eating G and Bs Mint dark choc as I write Verity.

Bloody cold here. And wet.

Question for hopefully - do you think it would be possible to dye the heather coloured Me&Em a more suitable Winter colour like a deep purple or fuschia? TIA for your expertise!

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2012 17:59

Argh, am so annoyed with not so DH. He has arranged to attend an event on Monday night, and when I said I was concerned that I may have two potentially unwell children to look after, and would he cancel if necessary he got annoyed and said he didn't want to talk to me anymore. This is after I cancelled my first evening out since MU on weds because the baby has a cold, and which was just as well anyway as he had to work late so would have let me down in any event

It's not the toddler I'm worried about SE it's the baby. She comes down with everything badly and is a clingy little urchin at the best of times. I have spent many a night toting a screaming baby while trying to cajole a distressed toddler into bed. It's not fun, and I get a bit fed up of DH abdicating responsibility. That being said, I am probably grumpy because I was up between 1-4am watching 'you've got mail' and rocking said snotty, angry baby. Either way, your idea of time off sounds excellent! Glad your DS is bearing up ok, I first noticed a couple of tiny spots on Weds, but thought nothing of it (he has eczema so often gets random rashes) and packed him off to nursery yesterday. It only clicked today.

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2012 19:56

And Hmm to your mum. Mine started telling me of a case where a baby died from CP today. Cheers for that.

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2012 19:58

Ooh forgot to post my good news - in spite of doing no exercise for a week or watching what I've eaten I've lost 1kg.

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/05/2012 20:02

Everything - your mother is a cheery soul isn't she - what do you think motivated her to send you that article - just so utterly bizarre. In fact so bizarre you just really have to laugh.

Chicken pox can be quite horrid - both my boys were pretty ill with it. So sorry to be voice of doom and gloom but worth letting DH know I think that a little extra help may be appreciated. Although chances are your DD won't get it for another 3 weeks - that's how it worked here anyway.

Hopefully · 11/05/2012 21:16

Envy at your 1kg loss Amber. Even though I know full well that I am smaller than I was a month ago, I would like some verification on the scales! you could probably dye the dress a deep purple without much bother. Not sure I'd risk fuchsia as it probably wouldn't be dark enough to cover the slight warmth of the colour. Agree with Everything that DH shouldn't necessarily cancel, but could have been significantly more supportive. You need more free time, woman! Book it in! Tell DH that you need some booked in, plan it together, and don't let him back out by suddenly needing to work or whatever. It is not fair and it denigrates your position.

I am so pissed off - have developed random shin pain, think it might be shin splints (rapid googling and vague memories of having them as a teenager when I did lots of distance running). Am having the evening off (sob! My Insanity progress has been interrupted!) and off tomorrow to buy better trainers and a mat to leap up and down on tomorrow. hate having exercise injuries, I am awful at resting. Hoping for miraculous recovery tomorrow.

Hope everyone else got sun today - was so nice to have a warm afternoon! The DSs and I sat in the front garden (so basically in the road, as we live in a Victorian terrace) and sang sleeping bunnies for about 45 mins in the sun earlier, it was lovely.

I'm intrigued as to what WhatToWearToday's post was about.

Amber, I can never rely on my DH to be home in time for me to go out either. Hope your DD doesn't get a bad dose of chicken pox. My DDs still haven't had it. It was going around DD1's nursery class and she still didn't get it.

Everything, I hope you threw the article in the bin.

I'm itching to go shopping. I have the cardigan fund that I am now not going to buy. I should just save it for the summer sales at this point.

blossoming · 12/05/2012 07:11

It was a link to a denim blog decam. Advertising I think.
Same here re chicken pox. None of my dcs have had it and it was prolific when DS was in nursery. We had it when we were 10,11 and 12 and my sister and I were particularly poorly. Wouldn't wish it on my dcs at that age. Oh and DH doesn't think he's had it at all!

MidnightinMoscow · 12/05/2012 07:27

Morning.

Sorry about the pox Amber and SE, hope its over soon. DS has not had it either yet, we did consider the vaccine as it is thought that children with allergies can get it pretty bad. However, we then had to consider that the vaccine doesn't last a lifetime and so we could be risking him getting it later in life. Damn if you do situtaion.

Some lovely sunshine today - off to a BBQ for a friends 40th today. Slightly miserable that I can't wear a lovely summery outfit, but good news is that my maternity clothes are starting the fall off a bit. [end]

Ants where did you find that £48 flight? I can only find one way for that.

blue2711 · 12/05/2012 08:29

Morning, sun shining here too, hooray! Popped into town yesterday for coffee and cake with DH (he sneaks out of work sometimes, one perk of being the boss. The 70hr week being the downside). Managed just one shop -whistles - before having to shoot off to get DS and got this Lisa top Very nice indeed and may way today (as I like to do with all new purchases. In fact if I don't wear it straightaway it usually means it's a mistake!).

Some really nice things in whistles, love the navy and blush sequin jumpers and also the green jersey maxi dress. The crochet jumpers are lovely too. Forgive not linking to all but whistles website is soo slow and I should have got up 15 minutes ago!

Thank you to reine for lovely compliment. I like the OC too, think I may have some kind of wannabe American teenager complex! Hope nasty cold is better. I am jealous of your primark trip and have got it into my head that there lie my perfect floral skinnies. Have got childcare for both DC on Tuesday afternoon for first time and am excitedly imagining a bargainous spree and also a long awaited trip to Zara.

Hope pox not causing too many problems amber. DS had it at 10 months and was a complete non event so fingers crossed it will be the same for you.

Hopefully - oohh, where will you be in Holland? PM me if you dont wish to say on here?
Amber hope DS isnt feeling too off colour with the CP.
Everything grrr to your Mum. I too have received ' helpful' articles including one on the 'perils' of raising children overseas.......cos Holland is so different than the UK, obviously.....

DH and I have 24 hours, yes, count em, 24 hours of child free time. Im feeling quite delirious about it! Off to look at kitchen showrooms (big step forward for DH) having a potter round a lovely old town (nice shopping apparently) before dinner with friends and a night in a hotel.
Dress code for smart restaurant is smart casual - but so was the one where man was in Reebok sweatshirt. Am wearing new nude heels with either black coated skinnies and cream blouse with black peter pan collar or Janice.

AmberNectarine · 12/05/2012 09:21

Hopefully sympathies re. shin pain, I suffer the same, is very irritating. Need new trainer myself, as I'm a terrible underpronator.

It's not that I want DH to cancel, it's just that he has a history of letting me down with this kind of thing, so I was just warning him it was a possibility, which obviously annoyed him. He's a great dad, but hates to be inconvenienced.

DS seems ok, more spots have appeared, but though tired he seems reasonably cheerful. Poor little soul.

Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely sunny day!

MarshaBrady · 12/05/2012 09:29

Annie no I don't sounds interesting! Have a great weekend.

Gosh people have weird ideas on what motivates others.

Ollie have a great time!

Ds1 has had cp, I'd quite like ds2 to have it mildly to get it over and done with.

Hopefully · 12/05/2012 09:38

Ollie do you know, I have no idea?! Blush I will check and PM you. We are visiting DH's uni mates. One of them is so gorgeous and lovely that I more or less lose the ability to speak around him. DH finds it hilarious Hmm Grin. Hope you have a lovely bit of child-free time!

Shins are virtually pain free this morning, so am off to buy an exercise mat and better trainers this afternoon, and will see how I go. Have also wrangled a by-myself-trip to TK Maxx (as it's just down the road from the sports shop I have informed DH that I have to go to to get the best trainers for my poor legs). Hurrah! Hoping to pick up a couple of pairs of trousers for DS1 (who I have realised, after the discussion last week about kids' clothes budgets, only has two pairs of trousers that fit) and some clothes for me. And possibly some new bras, as I seem to have gone down a back size in some brands - do we think bra manufacturers are into vanity sizing? All my old 32Ds fit perfectly, but my two newer ones are massive. Possibly I stretched them by buying them when I still ever so slightly bigger than a 32, I suppose...

I am finding myself increasingly fascinated by nutrition. . I have realised how unbalanced my diet is (for someone who exercises quite a lot) and how that probably isn't helping my on-and-off illnesses and injuries since I ramped up the exercise. Am off to the library to hunt down some more books on it at some stage, I think. Maybe I could combine nutritionist/health guru type (as long as it's the kind of health guru who eats cake) with colour analyst as a career Grin

blue2711 · 12/05/2012 10:53

Grey aggies arrived and are great! Can recommend to those who also like them, although can't believe that I a) bought boots in May and b) now have six pairs of ankle boots. Telling myself I am actually saving money with aggie love though as will probably resist buying ash jalouse now. Although 50 50s are still on AW list; can't believe I have one of those already!

notyummy · 12/05/2012 11:17

Thought KM looked stunning in green dress last. On iPhone so struggling to link but is in Daily Fail. Dame Kelly Homes also looking fab IMO. Davina McCall less so.
