Anyone still "princessing?"

I have been reading .....

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1156122-Project-Princess/AllOnOnePage

Fab thread and so inspiring!

Is anyone still doing this?

I am trying to add in the good habits from the thread into my life and wondered how well all the posters had done in their changes?

Am really glad I found this thread, only one night of slathering on the moisturiser and my skin feels princessy already. I'm using body shop mango body butter and also body scrub for my exfoliating. It was a gift but I'm definitely going to buy it again, I usually have super dry skin and it's felt amazing all day (no I don't work for them)

With the eyelash stuff is there a difference between the mascara that is linked earlier in the thread and the serum? Which do I buy to get the good effects you are all talking about?

Four hours of wearing my tooth whitening plates needed today, going to do it when I'm asleep so I don't have to attempt to talk (need to get up and feed dd anyway so can take out then). Can't wait to see results!

So far I am managing the water, moisturising, extra veg, exfoliating and teeth whitening. Going to add the face cream, breakfasts and lemon and water next.

Hi maemobley,

A nutritionist I saw as part of a free gym induction told me about lemon and hot water first thing. Not sure if I remember correctly but think it's to do with breaking down / dislodging fat deposits in your digestive system. Now I have written that down it sounds highly illogical and fanciful but I'm sure that's what she said or at least that's how it got stored in my brain!

Maybe someone who actually knows what they're talking about could come on and clarify

Oakmaiden · 28/10/2011 20:44

Can I try to play please?

But - am I allowed to give up fizzy drinks as my naughty favourite item? Or do I have to give up 2 things?

BlackSwan · 28/10/2011 21:09

I think giving up fizzy drinks is enough. I don't drink fizzy drinks anyway, so it's hardly a sacrifice on my part!

maemobley, judging by the reviews & the comments on this thread, I think Revitalash is the serum to try. You can definitely have coffee after the lemon juice, well I certainly can't give that up anyway. I like the ritual of lemon juice/water in the morning. Serves as a reminder first thing to keep on track for this project.

I made an appointment with the dentist today to have my whitening plates made up again, should have white teeth within a fortnight. My feet are thankful we re-started this thread. I suffer from deep seated foot shame when my feet are in a bade state.

blobtobetter · 28/10/2011 22:01

Black Swan - does the Perricone diet really work? I saw some of his supplements on the internet, I think, but they were SO expensive!

I want to go low carb anyway (but not actually measuring carbs / calories) but Perricone sounds interesting. I want that healthy glow!!

Hi bigkids just saw your post about being in the same boat as me, don't know if it's the same for you but turning 30 and being a mum I actually feel grown up now and this proper grooming seems appropriate somehow.

When I was pregnant one of my friends told me that I wouldn't care what I looked like anymore once I had kids, I remember feeling worried about this but if anything I'm finding it more important now to still look good and have an identity as me not just a mum (although don't see why I associate being a mum with not being hot - I'd love to be both). Anyway rambling but this thread is really inspiring me and I love the fact there's lots of us all taking the trouble to take really good care of ourselves

beatenbyayellowzombie · 28/10/2011 23:50

sunshine this thread does explain why there are so many sexy, hot women who are also mothers out there!

Littlepumpkinpie · 29/10/2011 00:16

Hi I am joining in this thread but not doing the whole list. So far this week I have done the following:) Wont put giving up cigs because I have been doing that a few months now.

Thursday Body scrub. Davina DVD, Water another huge bottle :)Face care, Feet soaked and filed then buzuka stuff applied to the varruca, Multi vitamins and extra fruit :)
Friday Up early 3mile dog walk. Zumba, gallons of water today fighting the urge to smoke volvic strawberry water helps :)Moisturised.
Saturday Well off to get my brows threaded today before they turn into bushy caterpillars. I will be buying some Karetase stuff from a hairdressers in town.

BlackSwan · 29/10/2011 08:10

blobtobetter, the diet is great, but you don't need to buy the supplements - if you take a regular omega 3 supplement/vitamins that's all i bothered with. If you did the diet for a week I think you would notice a difference in your skin. You can get a bit sick of all that salmon though! I'm a big oily fish eater since trying the diet years ago. I'm not that committed to the rest unfortunately.

Littlepumpkinpie - good for you, I had a flu jab too a couple of days ago & actually this thread made me stop putting it off. It's a mindset of taking care of yourself that's important, rather than ticking off everything on the list.

Happy weekend everyone.

mathanxiety · 29/10/2011 08:31

I have heard the lemon and hot water thing too and on the strength of that I might just ask to join too (even though I have a suspicion that shredding has nothing to do with lettuce and could involve effort and pain.)

blobtobetter · 29/10/2011 08:35

Black Swan - that is good then as I just bought some Seven Seas supplements. Radiant You and Perfect Harmony - that is the aim anyway!

I might give it a go - does the smoked salmon that you buy in slices count?

My skin is awful - I seem to have got stuck in the dull, spotty teenage phase.

Smoked salmon counts - but it's higher in salt so best not to eat too much of it. If you can stomach it the sockeye salmon in tins is just fine.

Welcome mathanxiety - if the shred is too gruesome a stint at the gym will do.

BlackSwan · 29/10/2011 08:41

Lucewheel - 4 dc's and working f/t! You put me to shame.

Off to go research the diet - some of his books are really cheap when you buy them used from Amazon!

I don't know why but I seem to have given up on myself - like I wasn't worth the effort to pamper myself or to try and look nice. Most days I don't bother with make up and just drag a brush through my hair. Dull clothes too - hoping that once I get the weight off I will dare to wear colours and patterns. I love all the girly stuff but at the size I am now I just don't feel feminine enough to pull that look off.

And I have swallowed all my vitamins.

Am not sure about the teeth whitening, my teeth are pretty good anyway,

TartyMcFarty · 29/10/2011 10:43

Ok, after a visit to a friend's (she baked a cake, would've been rude to say no!) and a kids' party yesterday, today I'm ready to start! I'm unwell with a heavy cold so will give intense working out a miss and perhaps do Davina or some yoga instead.

However, I've:

Done a facial (deep cleanse, charcoal mask, serum and moisturiser)
De-fuzzed
Exfoliated body
Used an intensive conditioner (want to use this up before buying oil)
Tidied eyebrows (am using the Urban Decay brow box AA recommended)
Eaten a healthy breakfast
Drunk hot water and lemon (ew, bitter!)

Today I'll be adding 2 extra fruit & veg (I rarely make my 5 so this is a good target for me); taking my usual TTC vitamin this evening; drinking more water now that the fizzy stuff has been polished off; avoiding gin (have had a glass a few nights recently, so will stay off until next Friday now; giving up my biscuit habit. I might cut out carbs in the evening and have more healthy oils instead. I'm already making sure I eat a few Brazil nuts every day.

I started Weight Watchers recently, and after losing 3.5lbs in the first week I Ned to get back on track after an unhealthy couple of days.

Must look up those whitening strips!

dubaipieeye · 29/10/2011 11:46

I'm on a bit of a self improvement journey these days (I realise that in the past I've been very haphazard in both my style and my grooming)...started with getting my colours done - has been great for the wardrobe, reading lots of books about style etc and reading this thread I realise that I've been doing my own mini princessing regimen for a while. I am going to add in a lot of the good ideas here, so thank you.

Today I have:

Exfoliated with body gloves
Body lotion with spf in it
Boots anti age spot face serum
SPF eye cream
Given feet a good scrub and moisturise
Hand cream

Oh, and can I suggest that the list includes SPF daily?

beatenbyayellowzombie · 29/10/2011 11:51

I bought these this morning (pack of 28, this taking care of yourself is expensive!). They seemed reasonably priced, although I don't really know

dentstore.co.uk/teeth-whitening-kits/crest-whitestrips/

beatenbyayellowzombie · 29/10/2011 11:56

Oh and I've today I've completed the following:

lemon in warm water
good breakfast
de-fuzzed
exfoliated body
moisturised body
exfoliated face and cleansing mask
drunk 1 litre of water

Have bailed out of going to two different a gym class, but will try again this afternoon.

And off up to the shops for a mani-pedi

But have completely forgotten about eating fruit and veg [hblush]

perceptionreality · 29/10/2011 12:15

I am totally confused about these tooth whitening kits.

What is the difference between 15% and 35% and most of them say up to 11 shades whiter - is that the standard thing to go for?

I have a few things to recommend. Do any of you have facials? Often the best way to brighten your skin, ime is to have deep exfoliating facial like a microdermabrasion or alpha-beta peel. They cost about £45 but are so worth it as you can see visible results right away.

Also, threading is excellent if someone good does it. Much better shape than waxing - it will make you look wide awake and frame your face.

bucaneve · 29/10/2011 12:50

Hello folks,

I'm a bit wary of the tooth whitening kits perceptionreality, I tend to think if it is strong enough to bleach them might it not also wear away some of the enamel or something?

This morning I've had a healthy porridge breakfast, had a nice long shower where I de-fuzzed and left in conditioner for 5 mins, got out and moisturized and did my nails.

I will be sitting down writing essays all weekend so I just need not to snack too much which is easier said then done.

Also, my toothpaste leaked all over my makeup bag which meant I had to declutter it :)
