Anyone still "princessing?"

I have been reading .....

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1156122-Project-Princess/AllOnOnePage

Fab thread and so inspiring!

Is anyone still doing this?

I am trying to add in the good habits from the thread into my life and wondered how well all the posters had done in their changes?

I was active on the last princessing thread in the spring. I've been following this one but haven't posted yet.

I'm doing a fair few of the things on the list with the exception of lots of exercise (sports injury), lemon and water (makes me feel sick) and eyelash serum (scares me!)

My top tip to share if you want inspiration is Mireille Guiliano's book "French Women Don't Get Fat". I promise you'll be inspired to walk more, drink litres of water, eat lots of fruit and veg, eat natural yoghurt, control your sweet tooth and generally eat better and move more. I have quite effortlessly lost half a stone since I read her book.

What was slightly depressing back in the spring is that I was already doing lots of the things on the list and I was wondering if that meant I couldn't do anything at all to look less haggard! Since then I've done the following, that help:

  • had my colours done so I'm actually wearing the colours that suit me
  • started colouring my hair professionally even though the cost makes my jaw drop
  • making sure I always put on a bit of makeup when I go out, just a dab of foundation and mascara but enough to make me look less tired
  • always always always ironing clothes and polishing shoes.

It's not exactly effortless is it? But I do feel better about myself than I did a few months ago.

Still princessing - struggling to remember to take my vitamins, must be some sort of mental block!!

Loving Liz Earle product - my skin feels like normal skin - not sensitive, oily or crazy.

Ok, finally the gel has arrived (teeth whitening). But there are no instructions with it! Am I supposed to use one syringe per tray?

How do I know how long to wear it for? The advice seems to be within the range of 15 minutes and overnight! I know someone who fell asleep with one on and spent the day crying because she was in so much pain!

ForwardOcho · 08/11/2011 17:12

Hi perception . If your syringes are like mine, one per tray will have it flowing over the top and filling your mouth. Just put a tinsy squirt at the bottom of each tooth - say the size of - mmm - one of those silver balls you used to put on cakes? I would try an hour first. My instructions said overnight too and I spent the next day mainlining paracetamol. Good luck - feed back the perfect balance between whiteness and pain.

perceptionreality · 08/11/2011 19:56

Thanks FO, that really helps. I'll let you know how it goes.

perceptionreality · 08/11/2011 23:20

Well I've just done it and got great results in 30 minutes. I couldn't do it any longer because it hurt! Thanks for the recommendations. It isn't much more expensive than using whitening toothpaste.

OOpps not posted in over a week. I have been quite ill :( but I have still been doing all the things I choose to do plus teeth whitener stuff now. My finger nails are in a frightful and brittle state at the moment I need to go and buy something to help them. I have been reading about the Rapid Lash stuff and decided I must invest in some as mine could do with some help. I envy my sons lush long lash's have alway's said if he had been a DD I would of been as jealous as hell LOL .

ForwardOcho · 09/11/2011 09:44

OOh perception Remind me what you bought - mine is no way that good.

Doilooklikeatourist · 09/11/2011 10:16

Only found this last night , it sounds as if it might be just what I need to get me out of my lazy routine and make myself look good ( about time too )

  1. 8 glasses of water a day... Do this anyway
  2. Exfoliate.... Had a go this morning , used a scrunchy thing the DD has
  3. Use teeth whitener ....not sure about this , will try a different whitening toothpaste
  4. Use anti-aging face cream ... Use Boots no 7 already ( when it's on offer )
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)... Make more of an effort , quite enjoy this in the evening watching something educational on TV
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream.... Eye cream on shopping list
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise.... Need to go to gym.
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg ... Don't like fruit ( unless it's tinned peaches ) more veg then .
  9. Healthy breakfast daily . Is a bio yoghurt OK ? Or do I need more ?
10. Hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) ... have quite greasy hair which is washed every day , what does it do ? 11. No alcohol during the week . Trying to do this already , successfully ! 12. Daily vitamins... Multi vit ? 13. Body brushing ... What ? 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week....OK 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM.... Will try , but have 2 teenagers who will be outraged ! 16. Regular hair removal.... Have regular appointment , 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps ... Bread or cheese. 18. No more fizzy drinks ... Thats easy , don't drink them anyway 19. DAILY body moisturising... Done that , feel a bit sticky, might get something better than Lidl own brand 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m... Found a dodgy old lemon in the fridge , nice lemons on shopping list. So , have started and will keep going and hope to see an improvement by December 1st ( Christmas evening out on December 15th to look good for )

I'm caffeine-free at the moment too after cutting out diet Pepsi (I don't drink coffee or tea) but am a bit bored of drinking plain water. I've had salad, fruit or veg with every meal except breakfast and haven't had any crisps, although I sometimes treat myself to a few squares of dark chocolate in the evening.Might have to invest in some cordial.

I started Rapid Lash last night so will report back in a few weeks on whether or not it makes a difference. Nails are done though - a nice deep burgundy colour.

What are these teeth whitening tray things that people are using?

perceptionreality · 09/11/2011 22:37

I ordered optident but they sent opalescence. It was the same price. As it seemed to work I didn't mind. But I think i'm going to ask my dentist to get customised trays and products in the future.

bucaneve · 09/11/2011 22:43

Went to zumba for the first time in ages today, and ate healthy packed lunch at uni and then soup for dinner, and I definitely didn't have a latte and a slice of cake whilst waiting for zumba to start

can I ask about hair oil...

is it like an intensive conditioner you leave for a bit and wash out? Or do you leave in like a serum? Does it have to be an expensive one?

BlackSwan · 11/11/2011 20:21

Blobtobetter - how did you get on with the Perricone diet?

blobtobetter · 13/11/2011 14:46

Not bad - bit too much fish and oil for me I think!

Just back from a week's hol in the sun. Let my princessing slide a bit but:

Used factor 50 on face every day
Used factor 15 - 30 on body. I get reactions to sun lotions so was dosing up on piriton to fight it off Sad
Swam every day and walked a lot
Buffed feet/heels every day - no cracked dry skin now.
Had a good relaxing week (results not really showing in my face though :()

Because of the skin reactions I didn't do any moisturising but can get back into it now.

Went out for big bike ride on my return home and fell off Blush A bit scraped and bruised now so heavy exercise is out for a few days. Am walking a lot.

PrimaBallerina · 15/11/2011 13:10

lovelychops I've bought a 10ml sample of Morrocanoil for £5.99 from amazon. It says on the bottle to apply a bit to damp hair and style as normal.

ForwardOcho · 15/11/2011 18:25

Lucewheel I have been very naughty for nearly two weeks as I have had my head down on a work deadline. All I have managed is healthy breakfast and lots of zumba. Negatively, I have managed lots of chocolate and coffee and almost no fruit. Deadline is over now, so Dettol bath planned for tomorrow along with nails and heels. Must do whitening too.

Hi there, I am quite tempted by this! (if I can find the time with 2 small kids...) but can I ask some questions of any seasoned princesses?

Is it 8 glasses of water as in pint glasses? Or tumblers? 8 pints seems a lot (are you always on the loo?)

I do the oil cleansing method on my face so can I ignore anything about exfoliation, moisturiser and eye cream? Also, my hair is very fine and prone to being greasy so should I skip the hair oil?

Thanks!

Was doing this but fell off the wagon this week a little. Rapid Lash is amazing, I bought it on Nov 2 abd used it every night (just found receipt) and my lashes are incredibly long. Have had minor surgery which has the happy side effect of being more "aesthetic" also, so looking forward to that!
