Anyone still "princessing?"

I have been reading .....

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1156122-Project-Princess/AllOnOnePage

Fab thread and so inspiring!

Is anyone still doing this?

I am trying to add in the good habits from the thread into my life and wondered how well all the posters had done in their changes?

Perricone 3 days I think as a start to the main diet. Supposed to clear up your skin and be anti aging!

Basically lots of salmon, water, green tea, melon, blue berries, more water, almonds and yet more water.

Diet sounds good- I feel better when i eat along Rhodes lines?

:) today- ran 7km, hair oiled, exfoliated, moisturised, tanned, White striped, depilated, tuna for dinner,

:( 2 bottles of strawberry cider

iloveeverton · 04/11/2011 22:16

Meant those not Rhodes!

pissedrightoff · 05/11/2011 00:06

Can you shave your legs etc when in a dettol bath or would it sting?

blobtobetter · 05/11/2011 08:59

Salmon for breakfast - maybe an acquired taste. I don't normally eat early in the day though so maybe it is that.

lemonbonbons · 05/11/2011 13:14

Any feedback from those of you who tried the dettol bath ?

Think I ll get myself a bottle later -I know how to treat myself :) ha ha

iloveeverton · 05/11/2011 15:53

I'm not brave enough for the dettol bath!

BUT this must be working because I was asked for id in tesco today- I'm 30! Yey! Grin

blobtobetter · 05/11/2011 16:00

I only have a shower - not sure pouring dettol over myself would have the same effect!!

Has anyone heard of Helen Andelin? I am reading one of her books at the moment - interesting stuff!

I bought that Bare Essencuals mineral makeup last week because of a thread on here and I've come out in spots all over my cheeks! I never get spots!

I'm about to get in a dettol bath in a minute while DS2 is asleep. I do all my shaving a defuzzing in the dettol bath Grin

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 05/11/2011 16:41

I've just read the whole thread and think the concept is great, so great in fact, that I can almost but not quite forgive the use of the term 'princessing'. I've been really ill with a nasty D&V virus this week and have lost almost half a stone, so need to get myself healthy again.

  1. 8 glasses of water a day - not sure I can manage eight large glasses but I'll certainly up my intake.
  1. Exfoliate - I exfoliate regularly in summer, must get back into the habit.
  1. Use teeth whitener - I have to be careful about this because I've got a crown on one of my front teeth and it won't whiten, so if I whiten the rest of my teeth the crown will look darker and people will look at my teeth like this --> Hmm.
  1. Use anti-aging face cream - I use whatever's cheap! Currently using Boots own brand Vitamin E cream and it's nice, plus smells lovely.
  1. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) - I frequently give myself manis/pedis and always have painted nails. I love having painted nails. I don't feel properly dressed without some colour on my nails (toe and finger).
  1. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream - ordered Rapid Lash yesterday after seeing it raved about on another thread. If you're thinking of buying some, Amazon is £10 cheaper than Boots.
  1. The Shred / other intensive exercise - I have the Shred but haven't done it since just before my holiday in August. Will get back into it once I'm completely over the virus. Also intend to get back into running.
  1. At least 2 extra fruit & veg - haven't been eating much this week but going food shopping tomorrow and planning on getting lots of fruit and veg.
  1. Healthy breakfast daily - I always eat breakfast, so will make sure I try to stick to healthy stuff as opposed to white toast smothered in butter which is my favourite.
  1. Hair oil - have Moroccan Oil but not sure that it has an effect on my hair. Planning on getting it cut in a few weeks though, so that will improve the condition, plus I've just ordered the home Brazillian Blow Dry kit from Amazon, so I'm expecting that to do great things.

  2. No alcohol during the week - I rarely drink at all, so not a problem.

  3. Daily vitamins - I already take a multi vit with iron.

  4. Body brushing - don't have a brush, may invest in one if I can be arsed.

  5. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week - I detest salmon and have no idea what other fish would be suitable.

  6. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM - sounds great, count me in!

  7. Regular hair removal - I do legs and underarms regularly, but sometimes let the ladygarden get a bit untidy. It currently needs a good mowing, so will get the ladyshave out.

  8. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps - No.

I don't eat much chocolate anyway but could happily live on crisps. I'm not going to give them up but will reduce to one or two packets a week.

  9. No more fizzy drinks - I'm trying to give up Diet Pepsi anyway, so this one should be pretty straightforward.

  10. Daily body moisturising - I've moisturised daily for over 20 years ever since my teens, so I have lovely soft skin, so it really works. Recently discovered a fab moisturiser if anyone's interested - Garnier 7 Day Intensive Body Lotion . I get the one for dry to extra dry skin even though my skin's not dry, and it makes the skin SO soft and smells gorgeous.

  11. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. - I've heard this before. It encourages toxins to leave the body, and apparently works even better if the water is warm/hot, rather than cold. Will buy a lemon tomorrow.

  12. Fake tan - I used Vita Liberata in the summer and have some left but I'm not that bothered about being tanned in the winter. I might put some on just before our work Christmas party though.

Hopefully if I can stick to at least some of these, it'll help get me through the dark, miserable months.

mathanxiety · 05/11/2011 19:36

Sardines, herring, anchovies, trout and mackerel are oily fish too.

sobloodystupid · 05/11/2011 21:16

I have used Dettol in the bath, wasn't at all stingy or pongy, Skin felt very soft and dry patches were gone. My boss's child has eczema (severe) and the specialist recommended that he have dettol baths every second night!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 05/11/2011 21:40

Thanks mathanxiety, I'll have a look for maybe some herring or mackerel tomorrow. Not a big fish person tbh. Will tinned versions do?

beatenbyayellowteacup · 05/11/2011 21:47

I think I'm demi-princessing. I'm trying, but I'm not managing everything every day. Saturdays are definitely "Look after Beaten days" so I've done a little better today, with a mani-pedi and had eyebrows done, hair mask and cycled for 15 miles, and multivitamins.

BlackSwan · 05/11/2011 23:36

SoftKittyWarmKitty (feel myself blush just typing that), I admire your commitment. Fish is great! You can have it tinned or smoked or steamed or sushi'd - just make sure you eat some. I like baking it encased aluminium foil with lemon, dill & dare I say it, butter. That way you don't have any fishy smells in the kitchen for days... as opposed to frying it.

Beaten - good to set some time aside just for yourself. Grooming easily falls off the bottom of the to do list - but you feel so much better for it when you get around to it.

blobtobetter · 06/11/2011 13:57

On day 2 of the Perricone diet - going pretty well apart from a couple of licorise allsorts and a bit of Christmas cake!

Feeling brighter and quite energetic - can't be the diet surely? I didn't think changing eating habits would take effect so quickly. I have been drinking quite a lot of water.

Biggest change for me was having breakfast - especially with protein. I don't seem to be getting hungry on this plan!

Planing hair removal, hands and feet sorting, hair oil and a face mask tonight!

Just done dettol bath. Yes, skin definitely feels different. Difficult to describe, but somehow more skin-like. As though it used to have hair and now doesn't. Am typing this wearing sudocrem mask.

I am terrified of my epilator. Used it once and OUCH!

OP posts:
bucaneve · 06/11/2011 19:03

I've never ever tried an epilator. It sounds pinchy and freaky.

I was sitting here thinking WTF is everyone doing having a bath in dettol but then I realised its the ammonia isn't it? My mum taught me to put neat ammonia (like the stuff to clean your bathroom!) on insect bites and it really does have a magical effect on your skin. I might try a bit on my dry skin patches.

I was good today, exfoliated in the shower (which really does wake you up!) this morning and left moisturizer in hair.

Plus had veggie and lentil soup for lunch and salmon fishcakes for dinner.

cakeismysaviour · 06/11/2011 19:16

Like this idea! Hope you don't mind me joining in, but I warn you I am useless and will be asking for loads of advice!

  1. 8 glasses of water a day - Will give this a go, will take some getting used to though! I usually hate drinking water on its own.
  1. Exfoliate - I need some help with this, as I haven't done it before! Do I buy some of that scrub stuff in a pot and rub it into my body??
  1. Use teeth whitener - Have been meaning to investigate this for a while, will look into it and let you know.
  1. Use anti-aging face cream - I really need help with this. Made a thread earlier asking for advice about anti-aging regime, but haven't had any answers.
  1. Intensive nail care (feet and hands) - I usually go for the natural look with nails, ie I cut them and file as neccessary. My nails could really use some improvement though, my finger nails are weak and my toe nails are very thick and hard to cut. Any advice welcome!
  1. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream - Sounds interesting, I have one eyelash slightly longer than the other so this could be a good solution for me. Will look on Amazon for Rapid Lash.
  1. The Shred / other intensive exercise - Had a baby two months ago so not much time/inclination for this at the mo, but have a bit of baby belly that I want to see the back of, so will investigate exercises to help with this.
  1. At least 2 extra fruit & veg - I will try!
  1. Healthy breakfast daily - I don't often do breakfast, but will try!
  1. Hair oil - Ok, which would you recommend and how often should I use it?

  2. No alcohol during the week - Am breastfeeding so not a problem!

  3. Daily vitamins - Will go out and buy multi-vit tablets.

  4. Body brushing - Hmm, another new one for me! Do I just buy a body brush? How do I use it?

  5. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week - Again, I will try this one!

  6. One early night once a week. I will if baby lets me!

  7. Regular hair removal - Currently shave (apart from lady garden - wax) but I get re-growth super super fast. :( Is is better to epilate? Can anyone recommend an epilator?

  8. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps - This will be my great challenge! My diet is rubbish really but will give up something!

  9. No more fizzy drinks - I really need to give up the diet coke anyway!

  10. Daily body moisturising - Any recommendations for products?

  11. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. - I'm up for trying this! Will buy lemons.

  12. Fake tan - Not doing this, pale and interesting is my thing! Grin

See I told you I am useless! Grin

MadameCastafiore · 06/11/2011 19:41

OK - I would love to join but I need to know.......

Does a small tim of mackeral count as oily fish - we have salmon once a week but if it doesn;t have 4 kegs and go moo or baa DH starts gettong a bit sweaty when I dish it up on more than one night?

What counts as a healthy breakfast - I can't eat eggs so please don;t say something like egg white omlette?

Does sparkling mineral water count as fizzy drink?? I hate flat water.

MadameCastafiore · 06/11/2011 19:42

4 legs, 4 legs!!!!

MadameCastafiore · 06/11/2011 19:43

It was the red wine that I can have today that is making me type funny.

bucaneve · 06/11/2011 19:58

I reckon mineral water is OK, as it doesn't have sugar or colour of any of that other random fizzy drink stuff. I do find it makes me bloated though.

My healthy everyday breakfast is (microwaved in 2mins) porridge with a dollop of honey on top. Another good one is a sandwich made of wholemeal toast with peanut butter and banana.
If I were really good I'd have OJ or hot water and lemon with it. But I love coffee too much for that!
