New thread here!

Red - having tried on many bikinis this is the best but obviously £££ although it was 40% off in the mywardrobe secret sale.

I have the ash jalouses and they are very useful.

blossoming · 14/06/2011 19:33

Lol red. He's a bit tired and grumpy right now. Best go feed him!

ollie, that really is fate. Hope you're happy with them.

Love the bikini mrscb.

cariciofi Your FB pictures are gorgeous and you look so happy!

The thought of mme licking the screen just made me Grin. I am also avoiding the sales. Have filled a my-wardrobe basket yesterday with lovely tops and dresses and did not check it out. Think I will get a pair of desert wedges like ollie to wear with skinnies and houlis.

pickled Sounds like you have struck gold with your JBrand order. Decisions, decisions... Wink

red Great Whistles haul! I think both dress and top are fab on you. Feel the same about bikinis and have resolved to call off the bikini search for the moment until I have taken up shredding again.

abo Looks like you had a fab birthday! You look fantastic in your dress and those shoes.

petitdonkey · 14/06/2011 19:45

Nan - that apartment is just lovely - I will bookmark it for future reference.

So many amazing sale links - I am going to London next week and am trying to resist splurging now! Not helped by Emo's mention of a sale Gracie Wink

red - you look amazing in both of those pics, your legs just go on and on! Very glam.

NotYummy - I have some quite old black LK wedges which are fantastic for balls - they aren't super glam but you barely see them under a full length dress and I can dance in them all night and there is no problem during the inevitable 'drinks in field' section of the night (or wobbly 'smoking in field' which I did at our last ball!!)

annie - I love your links and actually prefer the Maxmara to the Malene Birger. Maybe not exactly affordable but cost per wear....

Pickled - great link. I know three people with the LK nude courts and they all wear them SO much, good investment methinks.

Right, help needed. What to wear for a girlie day shopping in London?? I'm thinking that a dress might be a good idea (for ease in changing rooms) so thought I might wear my birthday Anglomania but with what??? Flats? I have some bronze flat sandals that are super comfy or do I brave heels for a bit more glam? Would like the LK Maddox wedges in nude but would I regret it?? What would you wear over the top in case it's cold? I have a navy Reiss blazer but I don't love it... I don't own a denim jacket and am not sure that is right anyway.

I could also start over and forget the Anglomania dress. What would you wear?

petitdonkey · 14/06/2011 19:55

Oh and red I have just ordered those Ash boots in black - I have been debating them for ages so decided to go ahead as I can always return them if I don't like. I fancied them in tan but they are out of stock everywhere. I'm hoping they will be good with skinnies as I don't think I'll get away with the bare legs and floral dress look!

Hi clevery, so glad things are working out in the new role. All good things... Kitten heels are such a bargain and such an essential bit of wardrobe kit.

Petit I had to show DH the pictures to check that I wasn't being mocked by you! Thank you for the compliment, my legs have never been my strong point at 5ft4 with a long body. By the way, the Reiss blue shirt is absolutely gorgeous. Have realised I will never have cause to wear something like that for a while, so will wait till work beckons once more. Love the VW and think you should definitely wear it - the faff of trousers is too much to bear when trying things on. Wedges if you can bear them all day.

Fritzi thank you. I've also got my eye on the Seafolly swimsuit if the bikini is just too awful in the cold light of day.

MrsCB that is a stunning bikini. A bit too £££ considering we only have some time in Cornwall planned this year and only in white on My-W, which, lets face it, is going to look baaaad on me.

For once, my dithering has rewarded me. The Earhart's in a 26 came back into stock at Shopbop, so have just ordered - £125 including customs and delivery. Much more palatable than £265.

ApuskiDusky · 14/06/2011 21:16

Clevery, really glad the new job is going well. I need to believe that the universe works things out right in the end - no house-hunting tomorrow after all, the two places we were going to look at are gone. A bit gutted about one, I knew it would go quick but DH is not yet comfortable enough with what we're looking for to let me view and commit on my own. I've been in a painting and decluttering frenzy as the estate agents are coming to value on Friday.

On a brighter note, Petit, my £20 Joseph garbadine skinnies arrived and I love them, definitely a keeper!

Red, yeah on the Earharts!

Are all the A&Wers spending time in Cornwall this year?? We're off there in a couple of weeks - done nothing about it. Maybe think about it next week.

blossoming · 14/06/2011 21:21

Woo hoo on the Earharts red!

I'd go flats petit, I get miserable if my feet hurt!

Glad your new job is going well cleverything. love that you leave your shoes at work!

Oh oh, I know what I was going to ask you lovely lot! (well, those in London anyway).

So, my 40th birthday is the end of September (gulp). I've decided against a party, and instead my MIL has agreed to babysit overnight so that DH and I can spend the night in London. I'm trying to think of something suitably celebratory to do - I think I'd rather do something rather than just have dinner - though we will eat out. And once I've worked out what to do, I'll then have to sort out a hotel.

Anyone got any ideas?

OllieinOrange · 14/06/2011 21:46

Red I like the ASH boots v much. You asked about Father's Day presents - I've been a bit predictable and got DH a polo shirt (bright pink one which will come as a bit of a shock to him I think!) and DS saw this Papa mug and said it looked a bit like DH (in his 5 year old opinion) - so we brought it here.

Apuski what sort of thing do you and DH like doing? Will you be spending the day there or just the evening? What about a private ballroom/latin dance lesson at Karen whatshernamefromStrictly's dance school - at Chelsea Harbour?! And then go dancing somewhere afterwards? Or a champagne tasting session at Vinopolis - if that still in London? You could hire your own pod on the London Eye too - or that may be too touristy? There may be some ideas for you on this list? here

pickledsiblings · 14/06/2011 21:53

Red, well done on the Earharts.

LOL Bloss and feeling raunchy.

I fear I may have been somewhat over exuberant wrt the jeans haul - just because you can get jeans past your thighs and fasten the button does not mean they are perfect, right? However, I do have photos so you can all see for yourselves Grin. I will probably keep one pair unless you lot talk me out of it. (I have worn the same blouse and shoes for all the photos and it goes with some of the jeans better than others - don't let that put you off GrinGrin).

Photos will be up soon.

Emo76 · 14/06/2011 21:58

NY wedges? sorry, not super helpful!

petit go for flats - nothing stylish about having to cut short shopping trip with sore feet?! and do wear your anglomania - lovely dress!

apuski i will put thinking cap on - do you like galleries - some have late viewings though I think on Fri - cld be quite romantic to stroll around together? let me know if you want any restaurant/bar recs.

cleverly that's a lovely bag

zembo hearty congrats!

mini Alexa shld arrive tomorrow for serious consideration. have resisted any more sale purchases today - have seriously overspent in first day of shopping! DH at Ascot today, I had spray tan after work (add colour to limbs for white VWA dress for Thurs!) so have spent unstylish evening on sofa with glass of wine, work conference call (amazing how lucid I am after glass of wine) wearing tracksuit bottoms and tshirt - THE SHAME!!

Emo76 · 14/06/2011 21:59

I meant to say pickled so glad your jeans haul has been such a success - how will you decide which to keep?!

pickledsiblings · 14/06/2011 22:02

Emo, I am hoping to put it to the W&A vote, are you in? At least you've met me so you know roughly what to expect Smile.

blossoming · 14/06/2011 22:11

Looking forward to seeing them pickled. It may need to be tomorrow though. Night all.

OP posts:
ApuskiDusky · 14/06/2011 22:12

Ollie, I have just been browsing that link, and briefly got excited about the Globe theatre, but there's nothing much on on the night in question. I can't imagine DH going for the dance lessons! We were planning on being there for most of the day (Sat) and then evening, but MIL is having cold feet about all day sole charge of the two boys, so we will have to see.

Emo, yes please have a think. I was wondering about the theatre - not really into musicals though. More than anything else I just want to spend some nice time with DH. I will need to think about restaurants as well.

Pickled, I'm ready to vote!

ApuskiDusky · 14/06/2011 22:29

Actually - going to bed now. Night!

pickledsiblings · 14/06/2011 23:11

Apuski, I was going to suggest the Globe. What a pity there's nothing on. Would really recommend All's Well that Ends Well.

Photos are up but everyone's gone to bed. It takes ages.

AntPants1 · 15/06/2011 06:54

pickled can I see. Am always interested in the elusive perfect jeans.....

wideawakenurse · 15/06/2011 07:04

Good Morning.

pickled Can't see any pics I'm afraid.

Apuski I will give it some thought today, although the first things that come to mind are open air theatre as an option?

clevery glad to hear the new job is going well, agree about the comfort factor of work shoes. I need flats for the journey in, an hour standing in one spot in heels does not make for a happy journey.

Emo I will be interesting to see what you think of the watermelon. Your outfit for Ascot sounds lovely. Don't worry about last nights attire, I am still in PJ's and DH's t-shirts alongside a face and neck that is swollen to twice the size it should be. However, I have lost 4 pounds since saturday. Grin

red well done on the earhearts - your patience was rewarded in the end. The Whistles dress is lovely by the way.

Have arranged for DS to have an extra nursery day today, so DH will take him just before he leaves. Just need to be well enough to collect him at 17.00. I have cabin fever!

wideawakenurse · 15/06/2011 07:06

Oh, Apuski what about the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill? Big, comfy seats and you can have wine with the viewing?

notyummy · 15/06/2011 07:36

Pickled- I think I like the snakeskin Agnes the best.

Emo76 · 15/06/2011 07:53

pickled LOVE the khaki agnes.

WAN hope you are on mend - not a fun way to lose weight but every cloud and all that..!
