New thread here!

OP posts:
AllBuggiedOut · 28/06/2011 16:47

Thanks carciofi. I feel as though I have also saved a virtual £60!

Oh ollie, can you sneak in a bottle of wine for while you clean? Or at the very least I hope you are going to the pub afterwards!

The storm hit here at about 2.45. Apparently all but a handful of DS2's (reception) class were screaming. No wonder teacher was chucking them out early!

PlumSykes · 28/06/2011 16:52

I have a confession to make. I have bought the petticoat white Alexa. I only meant to look at it, but it was out of stock in my House of Fraser. They called round, found one in Manchester and before I knew what was happening, I was handing over my card and smiling.

Aaaah, that feels better.

dexter73 · 28/06/2011 17:23

Carciofi - I too have sent back the current/elliott jeans. I felt a bit like an extra from Mad Max in them and the waist was huge!

blossoming · 28/06/2011 18:45

My lovely chiffon trim cardigan is down to £29 in the Boden sale. I might buy more.

Sorry to hear about your DH wan and pony portia.

plum I am not a MB fan, but that bag is gorgeous!

emo Yay for getting the clutch! Watermelon is such a lovely colour for summer!

ollie Classroom cleaning? Parenting in the Netherlands is very hands-on Smile. Would suggest going for a glass of wine afterwards as a reward! I like the look of the Next dress, but I checked and it is 100% polyester.

notyummy Don't change your diet if it gives you headaches. You are so active already and eating healthily. Wouldn't simple things like giving up alcohol/sweets or having only salad/light soup for dinner do the trick to shift a couple of pounds? What are you going to wear on Friday?

happily If you still around: How about a DVF wrap dress for wearing to work on hot days, like this if you can do sleeveless at your office? I don't know if the colour would suit you, but I also love this. Or capris, wedges, sleeveless silk top and light cotton blazer?

carciofi Your aunt sounds like a real treasure. Hope you have a good night's sleep tonight.

I wore my white cotton dress from Land's End Canvas Collection today and got so many lovely compliments. Today it was hot enough to pretend that I live on a Greek Island. I even had a siesta before I picked up DD and her friend from kindergarten. Spent whole day outside and now a glass of chilled white wine, heaven Smile.

redllamayellowllama · 28/06/2011 19:20

Oooh Plum, she's gorgeous.

Ollie hope you've managed to rope in enough volunteers to make tonight a laugh rather than a chore.

Carciofi, ABO, Dexter might I rave one more time about Nudie Long Johns as a Current/Elliott alternative - have just bought a second pair from Trilogy for an excellent price. They're such a fantastic fit.

Petit you must, must e-bay your stuff. It is so satisfying. Discovered any forgotten gems in the wardrobe?

My eye is slowly being drawn over to purchases of a more homes and interiors nature. Am on the lookout for an Ercol day bed and some other retro furniture. We have two boarded-up fireplaces at the new pad and I'm praying there are some lovely art deco tiles hiding behind the pine expanse.

Carciofi hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. I love, love, love the Alexa.

PlumSykes · 28/06/2011 19:30

Red, I'm an Ercol lover too. Day bed is on my to-buy list once our extension is done. Already have sideboard, dining table with Butterfly chairs and other bits, all Ebay buys.

redllamayellowllama · 28/06/2011 19:37

Oh good Plum, you can try to help me tread the fine-line between a retro look and a museum. I struggle at times.

rufus101 · 28/06/2011 20:31

Gosh just can't keep up. Going on our hols on Saturday, and have so much to sort out on work and domestic side before we go. And of course it is all down to me.
But I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Acne pistol knee hight boots in grey from mywardrobe. Can't seem to link at the moment. Love them anyway and DH approves, although if he knew what they cost......there they are!
NY you do not need to lose a few pounds, you are perfect as you are.
Sorry to hear about the pony Portia, our dog is 11 and I am dreading the day.
OWW wouldn't like to live in Dutch land! Yikes!

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/06/2011 20:40

God - am on day 2 of dukan and seriously all I want is a bowl of special k. However bikini trying on earlier has steeled my resolve.

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/06/2011 20:43

Oh and uber shallow question but has anyone on here had a boob job? Am thinking of going for a consultation as 3 pregnancies/bf have really taken their toll.

Back from school. Not only did we have to clean all the chairs, tables, surfaces etc but we also had to clean every single toy/teaching aid such as all the individual bits of lego from the lego tray! Luckily 6 other Mums turned up plus the 2 teachers so we had a bit of chat/laugh and then went to a wine bar for a glass of prosecco.

Heading for a shower now - but not before ordering your Boden cardi Bloss - I am now officially a Bloss clone!.

Mrs CB I haven't had one but a friends sister had one in Brugges (cheaper than UK at the time but still with high medical standards etc) - had the op in the morning and was sightseeing by 4pm - now has a fab pair of boobs. If I wasn't such a wuss, I would def have one.

blossoming · 28/06/2011 21:04

Nice boots rufus!
mrscb, hope you can keep it up!

Glad it's over ollie! It's a great cardi. You deserve it!

I think that 'Ebay stuff' will be added to my ever expanding list of things to do in September when, after 7 years of having a child at home, Dd does two days at nursery.
Yesterday I sorted through an enormous pile of clothes that had been in storage - they were all from Coast, ?monsoon, Designers at Debenhams type places. At the time that felt like expensive shops and I thought that I would always keep them- most of it went into the clothing bin outside tescos Sad. I guess I really need to try on the Wiseness as I've nailed Avidity. What is wise though? It's rather taken the shine off the order I placed at HoF the other day (although I always intended to send a lot back). I must have 50+ tops to go with jeans- vests, tshirts etc.
And I still never have anything to wear!!!!!

happilyeverafter · 28/06/2011 22:51

Thank you ladies, i knew there would be inspiration here.

emo i love the jbrand/minna combo, how does minna size up? I am 5feet 9, size 12, small waisted/full busted so often go up a size to avoid bust clingyness but then lose shape everywhere else.

Love the DVF dresses but little exxy for the wear I would get from them. New job starting imminently means no formal meetings in school hols so less need for smart summerwear.

Zara have no stock of any navy crops online. No hope of getting to a store, will have to scour local shops.

Fritzi. I have a navy blazer, like the sound of that combo. Your day sounds heavenly!

plum. Stunning bag choice, love it.

ollie. I really like the next dress, the longer length at the back is appealing as my large bottom tends to make things much shorter at the back.

rufus101 · 29/06/2011 00:28

Just back from seeing Bridesmaids! What a laugh! I have never seen so many people laughing (mostly women) leaving the cinema. And it has Jon Hamm! Chris O' Dowd managed to make a Roscommon accent sound sexy! Wonders will never cease. As I am from almost that neck of the woods, I can say that! Phwoar!

AntPants1 · 29/06/2011 06:20

happily have you tried Boden for crops? Sale now on....

carciofi · 29/06/2011 07:04

Ollie, glad you ended the night with a glass of prosecco and a spot of shopping, you deserved it!

I ordered this Boden bag as a changing bag as the Skip Hop completely hides the baby when she is in the Phil and Teds cocoon, and a cream silk shirt, can't find it on the website anymore. Did anyone else succumb to the Boden sale?

Rufus, have a great holiday. Glad you got your boots, very cool.

Dexter, :o at Max Max. Thanks for the recommendation, Red, I'll check them out. I don't need jeans really, just thought the CEs were a bargain.

We had a much better night, the cooler weather suits my Irish girls.

Pickled, we have not registered the baby yet so there is still time to change her middle name, maybe to Mulberry? Wink

Plum, fab bag!

Fritzi, sounds like a lovely day. Yes, my aunt is a gem. She and my mother were very close so it is lovely having her here. She was saying how proud my mother would have been of her grandchildren last night and we both had a little cry, which is not like me. It is good to let it out sometimes though. And then we had a glass of wine!

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2011 07:17

Some nice summer frocks to peruse this morning here.
Marsha you would rock the bright yellow one that DA is wearing!

Monsoon-like rain here this morning but still v hot and humid - such a wardrobe dilema! Have gone for beige rolled up chinos, white vest, loose fit white blouse and after getting over my 'my feet are hideous' thing, these NL sandals in beige which are v comfy and suit the weird shape of my feet

Emo76 · 29/06/2011 07:34

happily I am same height but size 14 and happy in the Large - so think you shld try medium

petit a quandry shared by me!

wideawakenurse · 29/06/2011 07:56

Good Morning.

Thank you all for your kind words and support, and to vin for the offer!

DH taking lots of painkillers, he is pretty spaced out. Surgeon has said he needs to have an MRI scan next week and they will decide from there. DS much better today too, so hopefully we will have a better day today. Still no word from my parents...Hmm

carciofi your post just struck a chord with me, and it's lovely that you have such a close relationship with your Aunt.

Plum Great bag - I'm sure it will be a summer classic bag for you for years to come.

portia So sorry to hear about the pony - very sad news for all of you.

petit enjoy the wardrobe cleansing. The one thing I have learnt from this thread is trying to put outfits together for occasions and events. So, think of what you would like to wear for:

Coffee with friends,
Dinner with DH
Family lunch etc

I am sure on a old thread we got a good list going.

Hope everyone else is well, need to go and give DS his breakfast.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/06/2011 08:32

wan Glad to hear that the situation is improving. Is there anybody else you could rope in for support, so you don't get too exhausted looking after DS and DH?

carciofi I am sure your Mum would have been so proud of you and having your aunt around seems at least like a little bit of comfort. Enjoy your two gorgeous girls and carry on shopping avidly Smile.

BTW I ordered some bits and pieces from Boden sale too: bloss' chiffon trimmed cardigan in silver grey, and this cami in pewter, silver marl and white, plus some jeans and a cardi for DD.

rufus Have a great holiday! Where are you going?

ollie Those sandals are great! Still very hot and humid here too. So I can pretend to live in India today, but haven't decided what to wear yet. Changed from WC maxi to towelling shorts and white cami for lounging around at home Smile.
