New thread..

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 03/02/2011 09:29

Thanks Bonsoir. I think I may need to steer away from them then. I love Todds.

Bonsoir · 03/02/2011 09:39

If your tummy is not one of the bits of your body you are most secure about, the Houlihans are probably not great. The fit is clearly not very easy - I never think of myself as having large calves, but the fit over my calves is very slim indeed.

bouncingblueberries · 03/02/2011 09:43

Zembo Like feeling, I'm also new here but just want to say hope you're being well looked after and taking time to mend.

Thank monkeysmama there's hope for me yet then! Think I will ditch the bf bras when I go back to work. They're just so vile!

pickledsiblings · 03/02/2011 09:45

Yes, Spring footwear is a bit of a conundrum and apparently socks and sandals is not a good look Wink.

Bonsoir · 03/02/2011 09:46

I really, really want a pair of those Tod's ballerinas with ribbons but there are good two months ahead of me when I won't be able to wear them outside Sad

monkeysmama · 03/02/2011 09:50

I think you should get them Bonsoir. Look at and love them until you can wear them. Seriously, if you like them that much it's worth having them early to judge any new s/s purchases with.

Bonsoir · 03/02/2011 09:51

monkeysmama - I must go back to the shop and look at all the colours Smile. But I mustn't get navy or yellow, as I already have plenty of both those colours. Red?

Zembo · 03/02/2011 09:52

roary thanks s much for sharing. Will pm you sometime. Consultant has told me that I'll need approx six weeks off work and may take up to three months for full recovery. Looks like I may not make MOAM after all Sad.
Lovely to hear you went on to have two babies too. That's my biggest concern as my other Fallopian tube, although still intact, isn't looking healthy Sad

red I've used the paspic site and really pleased with it.

monkeysmama · 03/02/2011 09:54

I love red shoes.

Bonsoir · 03/02/2011 09:55

Me too! I saw some über cute red suede ankle boots in B&SH as I walked past this morning Smile

monkeysmama · 03/02/2011 09:58

Are the Tod's these? They're beautiful.

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2011 09:59

I'm so intrigued by the Tod's ballet flats with ribbons. But can't find them anywhere on the internet humph.

Fritzi the bags are to protect a HH dress, cashmere + silk equals gossamer delicacy! If a single hole appears... grrr. I have cedar balls and lavender I need more assurance! Hopefully hanging will be ok.

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2011 10:00

ooh MM are they it. Well done! The colours are lovely if so!

Bonsoir · 03/02/2011 10:06

Yes! Those are the Tod's ballet shoes. I'm in love Smile

pickledsiblings · 03/02/2011 10:11

I say buy them now before they all disappear Bonsoir.

Bonsoir · 03/02/2011 10:17

You lot are bad Grin

roary · 03/02/2011 10:21

Zembo I had a vertical incision (as opposed to a bikini line c-section type) and I was in hospital for 7 days, in bed completely at home for about 2-3 weeks afterwards, and in bed a lot for 6 weeks. I was a student and went back for the first week of term at 7 weeks post op and was really not ready. It did take me 3 full months to get completely back to normal but I was absolutely fine afterwards. It is very important to rest as much as possible which will be harder with DCs but the more you move the incision about the longer it ultimately takes to get better. But yes, two babies, with no real problems either. In the worst case remember that as long as you have an ovary and a uterus you can have a baby with IVF if necessary, the tubes are handy but not essential :) Get your DH to get you a kindle ASAP, it would be the perfect hospital/recovery device.

Back to the frivolous: I love the Tod's ballerinas.

MM Can you tell me more about HIgh Kais? I am seriously confused by the male models on that website.

macmama · 03/02/2011 10:23

Zembo you poor thing, that really is awful. I hope you are being looked after.

Notyummy I am seriously impressed ? 2 job offers in this market? You are on fire girl! Always available for coffee/lunch if you find yourself in City end of London during any of these trips

Marsha I think your approach to moths sounds very sensible although would say its almost impossible to prevent moths fully. They have even been known to get in under vacuum packed plastic and lay eggs (someone I know who works for fashion house was telling me this ? they regularly have to ?bomb? their premises with nasty chemicals to get rid of the problem).

My point being that even with a good system, vigilance is important and I would have moth killing spray as a back up in case they do turn up (I have some spare if you want it).

I have someone trying to darn the holes in my fave LK Benett stretchy black wool dress at the moment ? just can?t bring myself to throw it away without one last attempt to get rid of moth holes.

I am worn out today. Sleep deprived and generally exhausted with the grind ? better get some more coffee in!

macmama · 03/02/2011 10:24

Bonsoir love your idea for styling the houlihans with VB top.

You know you have to have those Tods!

loobylu3 · 03/02/2011 10:25

zembo- how awful for you and how nice of you to have let your virtual friends know what has happened! I can't believe that you have had so much ill health in the past couple of months- you poor thing. :(
I guess it is a good thing that you collapsed and were forced to go to hospital the other day otherwise who know what would have happened!
I know of a number of patients and have a couple of friends who have fallen pregnant having had a fallopian tube removed so don't worry on that score :)

red- than you for those links. I wasn't sure which yellow dress you were meaning but the Marilyn one is nice!
The Pure silk tops are nice too bloss but you are right, I would need a smaller size.

bouncing- nursing bras are so horrible aren't they! I also ditched mine after 6 months or so.

Feeling v unattractive today with a bloated tummy and even DD1 told me I looked pale this am!

macmama · 03/02/2011 10:32

Wolford in Secret Sales today ? 60% off I think

MarshaBrady · 03/02/2011 10:32

Thanks macmama. I know if I zip it up I'll probably worry even more that a moth will be zipped up with it. Arh! at the thought. So will check and check. I too a have a ruined VBruno and a SRykiel dress. I will look into sprays. Maybe I should clear out entire wardrobe and wash walls (not sure if would help).

Bonsoir those Tod's are not on NaP yet. When, and if, they are I bet they go very quickly. Also you should be first to wear them amongst your contemporaries Wink

macmama · 03/02/2011 10:35

And Great Plains wool Bretons for £14 at Brandalley today here

marsha happy to send you one of my spare sprays should you want it just let me know

monkeysmama · 03/02/2011 10:39

Roary have a look here my dear. I like the High Kais. I have the darker ones and am thinking of getting the lighter ones too.

VerityBrulee · 03/02/2011 10:40

Oh Zembo that's dreadful, you poor, poor love. Did your GP miss the ectopic last week? I'd have something to say about that. Great to hear Roarys story that there is still hope. Sending you lots of positive thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Those ballerinas are divine IME tods last really well because of the sole, so potentially a reasonable cost per wear.

Marsha you are so right to take care of your cashmere. We had a moth infestation and I spent weeks darning and repairing. Not fun.

Bloss I have jeggings from last year, never wear them, must ebay. They are not a substantial as jeans though IYNWIM. Dd snuggled on sofa today, so I'll have plenty of time for research.
