xpost Verity helloo Smile

Yes I had a terrible hair cut once at university. I was asked to modelle for some pics in return for a free hair cut and colour. Oh my crikey the haircut was an abomination and the colour. Patchy like a cat. Cries at thought.

I turned left out of the hairdressers and walked into a hat shop. I had to wear a hat for 6 weeks.

And before a ball at 17. LOOSE curls I said, loose curls swept in to a French roll thing. Hahahaha it was so bad, so bad.

I cried then too Grin. Still paid Hmm.

hahahaha Grin

Tomorrow sounds lovely, wear a super dress and have a laugh with your lovely friend. It must be quite hard, and different. Hopefully we can do the same (give you lots of cheer and stuff) when we see you at moam Smile

DTI10 · 11/02/2011 22:03

everything - enjoy your afternoon tea tomorrow. Sounds just what you need. Put on your statement necklace and lovely top you wore to the meet up and stay out as long as you can. Wow the venue with your beauty, elegance and intelligence. You will get through this.

mrsjuan · 11/02/2011 22:09

Yes, hope you're feeling better about your hair anniemac - it's only temporary. I went for my first expensive hair cut whilst at university and it was all looking good until they cut right into my hair at either side leaving me with half a bowl cut.

Hope you have a lovely afternoon tomorrow everything - you've got every reason to feel a bit down but you will come out of the other side so much happier. Are you still battling with the condensation?

Carciofi / bag lovers: can we discuss the Mulberry Alexa? I think it's beautiful and am considering asking DH for it for my birthday this year (will be 30). It is within his budget since I'm not really having a party or anything, but it is so expensive - is there anything else I could look at that I wouldn't feel guilty carrying around? Grin Under £500 really.

VerityBrulee · 11/02/2011 22:13

Oh Everything you are doing great, this is a huge change in your life it will take a while to adjust. One day at a time Smile Weather is dire here too, can't remember when I last saw the sun, and that really affects my mood.

Marsha I remember it so vividly, a formative experience. I'm sure I paid too. And said thanks!

MarshaBrady · 11/02/2011 22:16

Me too. I paid, said thanks, while crying Grin

Then cried all the way back driving in the car. My friend made me have a shower and I turned up to the ball looking like I was stepping out of a swimming pool.

So vivid, I am laughing at the memory Grin

DTI10 · 11/02/2011 22:20

anniemac - sorry about your hair, most annoying when you are not happy. It will grow back quickly and you can/should avoid the hairdresser and find another one - so hard finding someone to trust with your hair.

mrsjuan - I love the Alexa. I have an Oak Bayswater and cherish the way they age. Are you going to be using it everyday? It is your birthday treat so make sure it is right for you and forget about the cost and think more about carry per wear!

VerityBrulee · 11/02/2011 22:27

Bet the 'wet look' made you look super cool Marsha, like one of those girls who couldn't give a damn and the boys all flocked around like bees to honey Grin

You've just made me think of that MM episode where Don goes to California and has an adventure with the lovely girl with the boho family. I'm picturing you as her!

mrsjuan · 11/02/2011 22:27

Yes, I would use it every day for the rest of my life, but still - it costs more than my sofas for a lot less leather Blush

VerityBrulee · 11/02/2011 22:29

I agree with DT, if it's your birthday treat and you love the alexa, then get it, don't worry about practicalities MrsJ

No I was a skinny ballet girl and brainy with no boobs as a teen. It wasn't until I was 18 that I attracted boys!!!

Then I did, but I was shy and aloof Hmm.

I went with some young dude. Not a cool one. Grin

Ooh thanks for enabling Vin. Overrules dh's non-enabling.

MrsJ you should always go for the one you love.

redllamayellowllama · 11/02/2011 22:35

Would love an Alexa. If you know you love it, go for it MrsJ

Was once made to look like a raccoon by a trainee hairdresser when at University. Met a nice boy on a Saturday with curly brown hair past my shoulders and turned up for our date the next week with chin-length, razored at the back, bleach-striped hair. He was gone within, oh, 15 minutes. How I wept.

DTI10 · 11/02/2011 22:50

last post from me, Graham Norton is on.

Vin - which dress suits did you try on? I am failing to find dress/jacket combos for work at the moment(need to just throw on and run out the house in the early morning). Reiss seems to concentrate on Trouser suits and I have enough of those, thinking about Spring/Summer. Fed up of wearing trousers to work and wishing the weather would improve. Shame you got your Blochs wet. Stick some newspaper in them and hopefully they will dry out.

mrsjuan - You have to 100% convinced on the bag otherwise it will be thrown into the corner of your wardrobe and DH will be disappointed. You can't wear the sofas during the day. It's your 30th. You deserve it.

red - I have often come out of a variety of hairdressers looking like a Racoon. Such a funny observation but not at the time.

Zembo I hope you are resting.

NY thinking of you.

everything - enjoy tomorrow, you sooooooooooooo deserve it. Bring back the scandal of the Orchestra, sounds very interesting.

mrsjuan · 11/02/2011 23:05

Stop it vin Grin

Night all, hope you get some sleep NY and that DD feels better in the morning.

carciofi · 11/02/2011 23:49

NY, your poor DD, hope she gets well soon.

Verity, I wore some horrors to the Trinity ball so I am sure you looked very cool in comparison to me! Do you remember when someone fell through the window into the library?!

Everything, hope you have a fab afternoon tomorrow. Sorry, I will make the post office on Monday. DD and I had a sofa day today.

MrsJuan, I love the Alexa and Tillie bags. The mini Alexa is around £500. Don't feel guilty, get the bag you love. You're worth it. :)

DT, I have the leopard print gladiators, very comfortable, I like them.

OllieWollieWoo · 12/02/2011 08:09

Morning all - esp to you Notyummy - hope you caught up on your sleep and feel re-charged today. Thinking about you.
MrsJuan - great news about your trip - lovely time to go away too.
Anniemac hope the 2nd visit to hairdressers helped fix things. One of the first haircuts I had here made me look like a bay city roller (went from a bob to having v short layers up top, looked like a mullet). Even DH said "what have they done to you" when he saw it! And of course that was the week before my Mum had arranged for family photos to be done!

Isn't it nice we are all suddenly a bit more enthusiastic about SS11 stuff - 2 weeks ago we were moaning about the lack of anything nice in the shops and now its a linkfest of lovely things.
Agree with Everthing that H&M has some super things in there. Enjoy your afternoon tea and chat with your friend. Brew (luving that new smiley!)

petitdonkey · 12/02/2011 08:37

MrsJuan - I have an Alexa and I really love it, it's a very practical bag. I also have an Oak Bayswater which I haven't used much recently but still think of as more of a classic. Do have a Mulberry store/stockist near you? It would be great if you could go in and hold them and see which you fall in love with!
I recently bought my sister a black Bayswater for her 40th, I think she would have preferred Alexa but it was beyond my budget, now every time I see her I think how lovely the Bayswater is.

I was tempted to get another but have been looking at Anya Hindmarch since tracey linked and they are really lovely.

Have been browsing the Tods website and they have some lovely sandals but no prices!!!

hf128219 · 12/02/2011 08:45

Morning all. Have a lovely afternoon tea everything and I hope my ebay offerings have given you a laugh!

I have no Mulberry bar a couple of battered weekend holdalls.

Love Anya Hindmarch bags and my main work bag is one of hers. Love the Tote linked to as it looked like it would hold A4. My main requisite for a bag!

Now off to don some Tweed and go shooting - in the pissing rain

Have great days everyone. Will try and read this properly tomorrow.

Smile
carciofi · 12/02/2011 09:18

PetitDonkey, you are a very nice sister!

MrsJuan, I have a Mulberry Mitzy messenger bag and an oak east-west Bayswater, also worth a look. I like the Somerset totes too, very classic.

Have fun, HF.

blossoming · 12/02/2011 09:52

Morning all.
Hope things are better notyummy.
Have a great day hf. Very envious. I'm allowing myself MN time as have just finished one batch of ironing.
traceybath, that is very kind of you to offer, but I think I'll save it for a day out next week!
mrsjuan, when I wanted my Chanel bag (small quilted black clutch, but with the chain strap, about £550), I got DH to give me a cheque for my birthday in Oct, another one for Christmas, but early, and then I added the rest. I love the Alexa, which is odd, as I really didn't think I did till I saw it in RL. After paying off CC for January, I may start saving, in the hope of getting close to one by next birthday!
I'm sorry but I have laughed over your hair stories. I thought it was only me who had such trauma. Glad everyone else has been in the same boat!
So how did the house chat go ollie?
