New thread..

OP posts:
TheAllNewOoooh · 11/02/2011 08:52

Mac oh no! Could it be the shock of shorter hair rather than the cut? Will you go back to the same place or try somewhere new?

MM honestly the Lands End costumes are really very good - and supportive. Definitely worth ago once you get your head around shopping at Saga there.

OllieWollieWoo · 11/02/2011 09:11

Back from house viewing. It was so lovely, I could have easily wept. I actually had tears in my eyes looking round the kitchen and I'm usually not that emotional about anything, let alone a kitchen! The owners are retiring and wish to downsize to their second house in Belgium so are in no rush to sell it - tad annoying as it means they are not open to offers Sad. DH v excited by it too (and he never gets excited). Ladies, it has a big walk-in dressing room with floor to ceiling storage! I know I'm gushing but it was just so, so nice - needs no work done to it either. DH and I are going to have a big chat about it this evening. Price does make me feel slightly ill tho! Ah well, one can dream.....

Notyummy - hope DD is brighter today and making good progress.

FritziGreenEyes · 11/02/2011 09:15

notyummy Hope your DD's condition will improve with the ABs. Take care of yourself too!

bloss Hope the time passes quickly until lunchtime! Love the GAP cargo skinnies but wish they were available in navy. Not sure if my thighs are compatible with those pockets Hmm

MM Enjoy your break and don't stress about Valentine's. Your DH is probably happy just to spend some time with you and DD and get away from it all.

DD and DH have hit the slopes again while I'm still struggling and don't dare to be more than a short sprint away from our bathroom.

anniemac Hope you'll feel better about your haircut today.

ollie Tell us about the house! Fingers crossed you'll love it and can get it!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/02/2011 09:16

ollie x-post! Maybe you can work something out!?

hf128219 · 11/02/2011 09:22

Bloss It's the least we can do.

Hope you have fun today. Or maybe not!

OWW House sounds fabulous.

MAC Nightmare. It can just make you feel so miserable, can't it?

Roary Although a really big decision I would say go for it. Impulsive, moi?

NY Hope dd is on the up.

Have a very busy day tomorrow - and wardrobe challenges.

11:00-13:00 Clay Pigeon Shooting
13:00 - 15:00 Pub Lunch
15:00 - 17:00 Children's Birthday Party
19:00 onwards Black Tie Dinner

Decisions decision!

Have great days everyone Smile

redllamayellowllama · 11/02/2011 09:27

OWW, wow! Fingers crossed that your chat this evening finds a way for you to get it. Is the estate agent telling you they're not open to offers or have you heard it from them?

Sorry to hear you're still I'll Fritzi. Film marathon?

redllamayellowllama · 11/02/2011 09:27

Ugh, ill.

carciofi · 11/02/2011 10:10

Annie, I have had some of my worst moments at the hairdresser! At the moment I am trying to grow out a fringe that my last hairdresser told me would look great. My hair is so fine it just looks rubbish. I'd rather go to the dentist than the hairdresser!

Fritzi, sorry you are still unwell. My dad swears by a mixture of brandy and port for tummy complaints! Hope you have some good books.

Bloss, I like the Gap cargos. Much more reasonable than Houlihans! I am thinking of getting those shoes too.

Oooh, I like your list, especially the Chie Mihara wedges. I think I could manage those. I am trying to convince myself not to buy the expensive Crumpet scarf as I have loads of scarves so bought two Zara scarves instead. I am still tempted though and have hinted to my dad that it would make a great birthday present. I am not buying anything for spring but think I will get a Mulberry wallet, maybe a pair of wedges and a new bag: like this satchel www.anyahindmarch.com/prod/Shoulder_Bags/Handbags/Maxi_Zip_Satchel/42103/ or http://www.my-wardrobe.com/anya-hindmarch/maeve-tote-662401 (but maybe too work-y)? I also like the Mulberry Alexa, Tillie and Lily bags. But need to save and DH can't understand why I would want another bag!

Verity, glad you like the names. I like Éabha but wonder will it sound odd that one child has an Irish name and the other a Latin name? Or does it matter?

carciofi · 11/02/2011 10:11

messed up the links: AH tote and navy satchel

carciofi · 11/02/2011 10:13

HF, your Saturday sounds great fun. We need to go and buy a lamp, snoooooze!

OWW, good luck with the house, it sounds amazing.

Hope the Aveda stylist will make you feel better about your hair. It probably looks great and you just need to get used to it.

florenceuk · 11/02/2011 10:59

NY - so sorry to hear about your DD. Poor DS spent a week and a half in hospital with pneumonia when he was six - not to mention was ill for weeks before the doctors realised that he had pneumonia and was not just suffering from the flu. He had a chest drain and lots of ABs - and made a fantastic recovery. I'm sure your DD will do the same. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

MarshaBrady · 11/02/2011 11:11

Oh Anniemac having a bad experience at hairdressers is so crap really isn't it? I use Aveda for colour and they are really good at doing natural type stuff. Plus look at the stylists their hair is beautiful and natural and so shiny.

I hope you have a good time, are you going to the Covent Garden one? I really need to do mine.

Thanks also for your info re silk P&J dress, I have decided to return it as I spend so much of my day lifting and holding ds and still bfding that I need quite hardy dresses.

Hf your weekend sounds fabulous. I would love to go to a black tie do, haven't been to one for ages. What will you wear?

MilliONaire · 11/02/2011 11:25

hello everyone,
lots and lots of lovely spring stuff being linked - love it!
Blossoming - just wanted to say that I think we are really style buddies - I have been musing over those skinny cargos - LOVE them and I am considering those exact sandals - I keep logging into boden to have another look at them. Actually I like the gold galdiators and the pistachio elastic espadrilles too! It's rare for me to like so many shoes at once!

Has anyone seen the stipped reefer jacket/coat in phase eight, it's not on their website, so can't link to it. I like it but am unsure about how flattering it is as there is an open pleat down the back so it is sort of swing shape from the back...may need to bring my sister to view it with me next week. If anyone has seen it in real life I'd love your opinions.

I am still a bit gutted that the janice was such a non runner for me. I don't feel properly qualified in this thread without it!

MarshaBrady · 11/02/2011 11:26

Ah no stay Millionaire, I don't have it, haven't tried it on even!

MilliONaire · 11/02/2011 11:28

Blosoming, and vinveritas, I also wanted to say that I am so sorry for the terrible, unimaginable losses you have suffered (and anyone else here). I feel a bit of an imposter/new comer and I know I don't know any of you very well, but you have struck me as very brave and eloquent given the shocking grief you have been through, and bloss, I was thinking of you yesterday.

TheAllNewOoooh · 11/02/2011 11:42

Carciofi I absolutely love both of those bags. I wish I'd known about the tote last month when DH was buying me a bag; I have one that I'm happy with, and is quite practical but I don't love it.

I think the second is very chic and not just for work - ok, it isn't a fun party bag but it would look great being taken around Selfridges or out for supper.

carciofi · 11/02/2011 11:57

Milli, I don't have the Janice dress either. I have those gladiators, really like them and they are very comfortable. I have ordered a second pair as I had some things to exchange.

Ooooh, I will see what Monday (birthday) brings! I sent DH the link to the tote bag and he said it is too big and asked me if I intend to carry the baby around in it like a pomeranian. :)

blossoming · 11/02/2011 12:15

carciofi, how was your new bed?
Lol at your dh. They don't get it do they?

anniemac, sorry you had a bad hair experience. I had short hair till I was 30, and every time I left the hairdressers I would feel like crying. Then I started growing it, and one day the hairdresser cut the back really short for some reason. How I cried again. I'm happy now with my hair. But no shorter! Hope you like it better after your Aveda visit. Why not link a photo?

Sounds like a great day tomorrow hf, but, what, no rugby??!! I'd love to be in Edinburgh right now.

fritzi, you poor thing. Sending you positive thoughts. Ooh, you might have lost loads of weight!! (Isn't that the only positive aspect of stomach bug?)

millionaire, I'm pleased the skinny combats are getting positive comments. With the free delivery, returns, it seems rude not to try them on I think! I blame notyummy, linking the Day Birger stuff last week. And the sandals are getting good reviews too. I don't actually have any money, but never mind! Good to have you on board.

Right I'm off to ice my cake ready for teatime. I made a chocolate and vanilla marble cake from February Good Food. It has chocolate icing and drizzled with white chocolate. Friday is treat day, so I may have a piece. I find letting go a little, really difficult. I don't want to lose any more weight though, but personally I find it easier to be strict than allowing myself some treats. Anyway, it's good for DS to see me indulging now and again.

OP posts:
petitdonkey · 11/02/2011 13:00

Bloss - I didn't have a chance to post properly last night. I don't suppose that you ever get over the loss of a child but I hope that your felt especially close to your daughter yesterday.

Have been looking at the high Boden gladiators and also like these but not sure... Also liked the shoes they have styled it with.

Loved WIT's dress yesterday but can't find it on Topshop - can anyone think of an alternative?

blossoming · 11/02/2011 13:27

petitdonkey, I think she got it back in Autumn iirc. At the time we all laughed at the length!
Thanks for pointing me towards the Boden limited collection. Although it doesn't look that different to me! I'm not sure about silk trousers though.

OP posts:
roary · 11/02/2011 13:46

Thanks all for the helpful comments yesterday - we are actually back in limbo again today, very frustrating.

NY hope little yummy is getting better.

Pickled thanks for the gap link- I am long in the torso and cropped things often make me look gangly but I will try it on!

Bloss I had the earlier iteration of those cargos and they're great. Hope today is filled with everything you need to make you happy after yesterday. Like CAKE. Definitely eat a piece!

Annie good luck with your hair. Am off to get mine done today.

Zembo · 11/02/2011 14:02

Hello ladies!

I've PM'd some of you, you know who you are Smile

Roary the prospects that are ahead of you sound amazing, can't imagine what you must be going through - unfortunately I can't ever see me putting 'dream' and 'job' in the same sentence. I still often wonder what my true vocation in life is! Luckily DH is totally in love with his job Envy

Anniemac lots more sympathy here on the hair front - really hope you feel happier about it today.

Bloss your cake sounds yummy, so glad you made it, I think I'd have done the same.

DT thanks for asking about me. I'm getting better thanks. It's all the vanity related things which are bothering me the most at the moment (I know you lot will understand) - seeing the dentist this PM to assess damage, but also feeling a bit p**d off with my disfigured abdomen. My stomach was flat and unmarked despite having my two DC, and now it's swollen (hopefully that'll improve) and looks a complete mess Sad - anyway still early days.

Carciofi really like the bags you linked to, esp the navy one, looks very versatile.

Tracey which AH bag did you get. Quite fancy a new bag myself - seems like it's been a while since I had one Wink

Still waiting for my Brora goodies.

Fritzi hope you feel like you've at least had a bit of a change of scenery and therefore a bit of a break.

NY really feel for you and your DD having to endure the hospital. Kids wards are better than most though.

traceybath · 11/02/2011 14:20

Zembo - I've got this bag and its fab. Wasn't sure initially about the texture of the leather but its very practical.

Whizzed into shops this morning and bought the requisite h&m breton with little buttons on and also a slouchy sheer one with charcoal grey stripes that was only £7 - Bloss it was so you - I think its on their website.

Zara leopard print shoes just delivered and they're perfect.

And the sun is shining!

Fritzi and NY hope things pick up for you this weekend.

Zembo - I totally sympathise over the tooth and tummy but both will be back to normal very soon Smile

I am wearing today grey leopard print silk shirt over black vest top with indigo jeans and red patent heels - a tad overdressed for shopping and school-run Grin

Bloss - I too find the moderation thing hard - I can lose weight and gain weight easily but maintaining is very hard.
