Crazy I told my hairdresser I had bought one and she was raving about them, but she said to blow dry my hair to about 70% dry and hold my head upside down for max volume, then use the Babyliss thing to finish it off.

WilfShelf · 17/12/2010 17:51

For root lift, you basically raise the hair up, hold it while you blast it with heat, then keep holding it while blasting with your cold shot if you've got one. If not, then hold it up until the hair cools right down. Do this in small sections all over, or just where you need a bit of vavavoom

This is my one of two only hairdressing tips. The other is to blow dry the kinks out of your hair you have to blast it forward from the roots, then backwards, then forwards again. I may have learnt the last one from MN but the first I was taught by an actual hairdresser, honest.

anchovies - my hair is shoulder length, wavy, thick and I have lots of it. It works really well for me so I reckon it would be great for your mum. It's very light too

Today was the first time I've tried it on clean hair though and I actually think it's better on slightly grubby hair (for me anyway). I didn't put any 'product' on my hair first though other than frizzease serum which I do every time I wash it or I look like Struwwelpeter

HowsTheSerenity · 17/12/2010 17:53

Where is my big hair????
I want it now!!

Celery · 17/12/2010 19:19

I have to wash my hair every day as it's very fine and oily. I think I should just accept that just having clean hair is a bonus for me, let alone big hair.

nomorecake · 17/12/2010 22:00

Bessie26 - ooo i had no idea! thanks. off to surf a bit on amazon, to see what i might like.

big hair may have to wait until new year.

PurpleMiffy · 17/12/2010 22:18

I WANT MINE HERE NOW! Oh the subject of hair can I please have a little rave about John Frieda Foam Dye. It's brilliant.

panettoinydog · 17/12/2010 23:35

I saw kirsty wark on newsnight. I am sure she has been using babyliss big hair. She looks so much better.

tingletangle · 17/12/2010 23:42

I was about to post the same panettoiny

panettoinydog · 17/12/2010 23:44

Didn't it look fabulous? And her hair is pretty scrawny at the best of times so mine will look totally out there

tingletangle · 17/12/2010 23:48

This morning I woke up late with a hangover to discover that we had no hot water. My Bayliss big hair restored me to looking groomed - in the hair department anway.

panettoinydog · 17/12/2010 23:49

wow. I am very much looking forward to christmasd

Frizzbonce · 18/12/2010 00:08

I used mine for the first time this morning. Oh Lordy - even with my left handed cack handedness, I looked like I'd just walked out of a posho west end £130 per blow dry salon. Then my six year old daughter asked to try it so I pouffed up her hair too. What a lovely moment.

LittlePushka · 18/12/2010 01:27

John Lewis £35 free delivery 8 left online as of now. Wish I'd read this thread before I got all my (limp long)hair cut off last week.Xmas Sad!

chickenlickin · 18/12/2010 09:42

got mine, very quick delivery from curry's. I have long very straight hair in need of volume. Did it in a bit of a rush but did do sections and wasn't all that!! May need to practise, get some product in and I am also having a bit of a trim and style (as I have none)! Reckon will be better with practise x

monkeysmama · 18/12/2010 13:56

I used mine for the first time yesterday. I have long, straight hair and lots of it though it is quite fine. It didn't boost the roots at all but I spent probably fifteen minutes max with it and my mum asked if I'd been to the hairdresser.

blondiemermaid · 18/12/2010 15:08

I heart my one and I only bought it because of this thread it gives me Cheryl cole hair it's so fab! Grin

CDMforever · 18/12/2010 16:35

Whoopee! Have reserved one at Argos! As simple as that! Hope you guys are right about this wonder product!!

bessie26 · 18/12/2010 22:15

oh bloddy hell - i put this on my amazon wish list a few days ago after seeing someone on here rave about it, but after reading this thread I WANT IT NOW, but am afraid to buy one incase someone else has bought me one for xmas I'm going to have to wait until the New Year

anchovies · 19/12/2010 12:06

Thanks for the replies, I have ordered one for my mum. May have to give it a little test before wrapping it!

monkeysmama · 19/12/2010 20:08

My root crimper thingy arrived yesterday but is still in box. Anyone else had success with it? Had hair cut today but will use in day or two with my big hair. My hair should be MEGA after.

expectingno2 · 19/12/2010 21:28

I got one a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say it is my most favourite thing in the world. I normally have frizzy hair and have to straighten it to hell. I have ditched the straighteners and my hair is fabulously swishy!

lovelyopaque · 19/12/2010 21:40

I keep spotting people in the street whom I suspect of "big hairing"

notasize10yetbutoneday · 20/12/2010 09:52

Mine has just been delivered to work, I will be trying tonight and will report back tomorrow!
