Howdy!!!! Squirrel 3 and I have decided that as we are a bit nutty, we'd like to set up the Nutty Stepmum's Club or NSC. If anyone would like to join us, please add to this post and prove that we are not the only nutters out there!

We would like to add a little bit more nuttyness to our already insane lives!!!!

I'll leave you to think about that, I'm off-ski, talk tommorrow afternoon hopefully, bye.

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 08:35

Morning all

I asked DP last night what he'd talk about if he came on here. His answer? "Errr, dunno!"

So that's the end of that conversation then

tarantula · 23/11/2005 08:48

PMSl Naam There is a SAHD's website. I nipped on it to have a look for dp and I must admit conversation was a bit thin on the ground

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 08:59

Hello MsT

Now why doesn't that surprise me??

How are things with you? If I remember right it's your birthday soon isn't it?

tarantula · 23/11/2005 09:37

Another couple of weeks yet. Yours is coming up soon too isnt it? It was my mums b'day yesterday. Luckily one of my sisters reminded me so I sent her an e-card (didnt have time to send a real one Dunno where the year has gone.

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 09:53

Know exactly what you mean, DP and I have been together nearly 18 months - it's just flown

Yes my birthday is a week on Saturday DP and I are off to Manchester to watch my team play and we're staying overnight so looking forward to that. Can't believe I'm nearly 34

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 14:45

Hello

Do your birthday's still seem special even though they are both so close to Christmas? Mine is bang in the middle of the year so its a good excuse for a BBQ party, you must get loads of people giving you combined Birthday/Christmas pressies.

BTW I have just got in from Christmas shopping (I HATE SHOPPING! BAH HUMBUG!!!) and there was a post office van outside my house and the 'postman' was just leaving my house so I called out " hang on a minute, have you got a parcel for me?".

"Is your name 'Squirrel'?" I was a little suprised bceause up until them I thought that this postman was a MAN but the voice told me that it was a woman, "Thats me" I replied, she came up to me and I put my bags down to take the parcel, "thought I heard someone clip cloping along" she said (I'm such a girlie, fancy wearing silleto heels to do Christmas shopping!) she then picked up my bags for me and started to walk down the pavement with them! I thought this is a bit wierd, all the time this really butch woman was talking to me. We got to the door and I expected her to just put the bags on the floor but she just stood there while I opened the door, when it was open she startd to walk in, it was then that I realised that this really butch woman was chatting me up!!!!!! I just said "Its ok I can manage from here!"

PS the parcel was ds's headboard strut!!!!

PSS do I stay on here talking or do I go and clean the bathroom and bedrooms?

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 15:02

Defo stay on here, bugger the housework

That headboard arrived PDQ didn't it?? Very good service, I'm impressed!!

Sorry but LOL at you being chatted up by a butch postie

I absolutely HATE having a birthday near Christmas! I'd love to be able to have a BBQ for my birthday AND, not meaning to criticise my family but cards are always garbage cos you just can't buy decent birthday cards at this time of year - shops just put out a few and fill the rest of their shelves up with Christmas cards!!

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 15:05

Tell 'em that you are going to have an 'official' and an 'unofficial' birthday like the Queen, then you can choose a day in the middle of the summer and have a huge BBQ party!...

As long as I'm invited that is!

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 15:10

That's a good idea - or I could just throw a party anyway for no particular reason

How are things with you? Has the dss situation calmed down?

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 15:20

As long as everybody still brings you pressie's!

Mmmmm, about dss we'll see, we have him from tonight until Sunday evening. I haven't got any money in my purse ATM (spent it all shopping) so he cant take any tonight but I'll draw some out tommorrow and we'll see if any goes missing. DP says he is going to have another 'talk' with dss to 'bring him into line' again, think he may be just trying to push out the boundries (as all teenagers do) but dp is determined that he is going to be pulled back again and told that his behaviour is unaceptable.

PS How on earth do you wrap a huge TV and make it look pretty? That's another thing I'm crap at!

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 15:35

Yes I think you're right, he could be trying to see how far he can push his Dad - and you probably!

For wrapping the TV, I would either stick the biggest bow on it that you can find or if you want to be really clever make it look like a huge cracker. I love doing this, it's not as hard as it sounds and looks great

Flippin' heck! I just tried to explain how I do it and it sounded like a right load of hassle! Basically I just wrap it up leaving plenty of spare at either end then tie a ribbon around the ends - be careful not to rip the corners - and fasten any slack paper with sellotape. That's as simple as I can get it, but they really do look great - specially something as big as a TV. Who is it for? Do they know they're getting a TV?

YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!
Just had some good news - Mum had to go doctors last week, thought she may have breast cancer. She had some tests and she's just been for the results and it's not cancer!! So, so, so relieved

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 15:54

That?s brilliant news NAAM, I remember having a lump in my breast in my late twenties and being referred to Guy breast clinic, it was nothing, but so scary, so I know what a frightening time you and your Mum must have been going through. Have a celebratory drink with her and give her a hug next time you see her.

The TV is for the in-laws their TV stopped working a couple of days ago, they are using a portable one ATM but it has solved a Christmas present dilema for us! We know the guy who is suposed to be fixing their old one so we have just told him to 'stall' them for a week, we are going to give it to them at the weekend as it is Christmas at there's this weekend before they go to the States.

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 16:10

Thank you yes it's certainly been a worry, have to say I cried a bit with relief when she phoned me

That's a good present for your in-laws. It's nice to be able to buy something that you know will actually be used. I always think once I know what to get people that's the biggest problem over with, then I just have to get the money together but I try to save all year as I get paid monthly, doesn't always work tho....

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 16:15

Tell me about it, think we're going to struggle more than usual this Christmas, dp's brother is going halves with the cost of the TV.

DP and I discussed only getting token presents for eachother this year. He did say he was going to put some money towards some cosmetic dental work I wanted done after Christmas.

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 16:29

I don't think we'll be buying each other much after this year, it's not just the money it's knowing what to get - don't want to sound awful but it's a pain in the ar*e!! It's not been too bad up to now as it's only our second Christmas together but once I start struggling he's getting nothing Seriously we buy each other things throughout the year anyway so it won't be the end of the world for us. And his birthday is end of February so that's not too far away from Christmas either!!

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 16:43

I supose that its a good thing that dp has lots of hobbies so I can always buy hinm stuff for them.

Thought you were getting him a personalised number plate?

NotActuallyAMum · 23/11/2005 16:53

Yes I am, I've already bought the number plate just need to get it registered - luckily he saw it on an advert and said he'd like one, I was completely stuck for what to get before that! Going to post it before the end of the week - need to go snooping for his documents! Should be OK, I'll get up a bit earlier so I can find them out

I'm off home now - out into the cold, it's freezing again here! Been like it for over a week now

Speak tomorrow hopefully, take care

Squirrel3 · 23/11/2005 16:56
