Howdy!!!! Squirrel 3 and I have decided that as we are a bit nutty, we'd like to set up the Nutty Stepmum's Club or NSC. If anyone would like to join us, please add to this post and prove that we are not the only nutters out there!

We would like to add a little bit more nuttyness to our already insane lives!!!!

Like I said I was very devout and didn't mind getting up early. Like my lay in on Sundays now though!

I wonder if you can help me out a bit, dp's parents are going to America for Christmas and they have invited dp, the stepkids and I (I must admit I get very that my kids are never included in dp's 'family' events but I supose I should start another thread about that one day) anyway, we have been invited to dinner before they go. MIL has decided that it will be an early Christmas dinner and has asked me to buy a couple of 'table presents', one for her and one for FIL from us.

What do I get her? FIL is easy I'll get him some trout fishing flys, but her?!? I haven't a clue!

She said they can cost anything from £1-£5.

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 13:25

That's not nice that they don't include your children Squirrel - I'd be sad and angry about it too. Can't your DP speak to them about it?

For the present, hmmmm, can understand why you're struggling - port & cheese gift set? small hamper? small bottle of brandy/whisky etc.? gift set with smellies in? small bottle of scent? I'll let you know if I think of anything else

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 14:02

I don't think that dp talking to them would serve any real perpose as the inlaws seem to 'forget' that I have kids, yet I am suposed to include the stepkids in everything we do.

I know my two are grown up, but it would be nice of them to think of them, they don't even get them a Christmas card. I don't think its malicious, they just don't think!

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 14:04

I mean purpose, my typing/spelling is soooo bad today!

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 14:47

That's the main problem with a lot of people Squirrel IMO - don't want to be malicious but they just don't think. Usually it's men tho

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 14:51

True, very true!

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 15:04
NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 15:10

Think so - I'm still in one piece

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 15:15

No men here then?

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 15:19

I'd like to put one of those on our house door sometimes...

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 15:20

Lol

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 15:30

Seems to be going really slow today....

DP is at his gran's house - means he'll come back with about 3 bags full of food for the freezer which we either won't use or don't like!! I know that sounds ungrateful but she buys anything, and I mean anything, that's on BOGOF in Tesco and gives it to either us or DPs parents. They do the same as us and give it away. I said DP ought to tell her, nicely of course, that we don't like xx or yy but he says she'd be so offended if he did. He once mentioned that he liked baked beans and he now gets at least 2 packs of 4 every time he goes. I don't eat them - we give a lot to my Dad so he's pleased. I shouldn't criticise tho, she's a lovely woman bless her, and she does very well for 85

I'm getting my laptop in 3 - 4 weeks

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 15:46

Awwwwwwwe bless her! That?s so sweet!

3-4 weeks?!? Is that how long I have got until Christmas? Haven't done a thing!

Gonna get ds AA cover for Christmas, think it makes sense as he is driving to and fro Southampton from Kent every weekend now. dsd wants a bike, dss a cricket bat (they are blooming expensive, I didn't realize). I wanted to get dgs a swing or something like that for the new house but the house doesn't look like its going to happen this side of Christmas, will probably get him something to do with Thomas the Tank Engine (he is Thomas mad!)

Dp and I have agreed to only get each other small pressies this year, so I'm going to get him some fishing stuff, maybe a new anchor for the boat and some scales to weigh the fish.

Not sure what to get dd, again I was going to get something for the new house but... any suggestions gratefully received. Lea should be easy...

Oh No! You have got me panicking now! I need a good kick up the backside to make me get things organized!

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 15:48

Bah Humbug!!!!

I hate Christmas!!!!

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 16:07

5 weeks and 3 days to go

I'm nearly sorted, just a few bits to get. I used to love Christmas but I'm really not looking forward to it this year so it's a bah humbug from me too!! Need to get DPs registration number put onto his car, it's not that difficult but I somehow have to nick his registration document and MOT to send off without him finding out. Should be able to do it, I'll have to go searching when he's at work. Problem is as soon as I get the paperwork back the new number plates have to be put on the car so I might have to give it to him before Christmas which I really didn't want to do - but if I have to then so be it, nothing I can do about it

No idea what he's buying me but I've been dropping very unsubtle hints for another skydive

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 16:16

I'd love to do a skydive, always have, maybe we could organize one to raise money for charity?

What charity though, the Nutty Step-mums Charity? We could use the money to give to Stepmums that are having trouble with BM's unreasonable maintenance demands/travel expenses etc!

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 16:23

P.S. I'm sure you can nick his documents without dp realising, just claim ignorance if he discovers them missing!

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 16:25

Don't think we could raise enough for that

I'd love to do it again, hope I get one for Christmas but I've got a feeling he's getting me something different cos he keeps saying things like "hope you'll like it". Unless that's just a red herring to throw me off the scent....

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 16:31

LOL

I don't think he'll even notice they've gone - it's not as if he has to look at them very often and they'll be back within a couple of weeks. All I have to do is find the bloody things!! I think I know roughly where they are but not exactly. Have to go hunting

Squirrel3 · 17/11/2005 16:42

Happy hunting NAAM got to go, talk tomorrow afternoon probably, have a nice evening.

NotActuallyAMum · 17/11/2005 16:49

Thanks, you too

NotActuallyAMum · 18/11/2005 09:10

Good morning all

IT'S FRIDAY

And it's absolutely bloody freezing here!!

LooptheLoop · 18/11/2005 11:46

Yes it's freezing. DH has just mended our heating after a month with none. So I'm very grateful and looking out at the frost with a big warm grin on my face. Mind you, the boiler has sprung a leak and bought down a ceiling in the room below.... Heh ho - at least I'm warm!

Have a good day everyone and hope you're getting the sunshine.

tarantula · 18/11/2005 11:59

Morning all (just) Ive warmed up now and my feet have unfrozen. think Ill be asking santy for some 'terminal' socks if the weather stays like this. I had 2 pairs on this morning as well as my walking boots and toes still froze. Hope we arent in this for the long term.

Hows all today. Good to have you back LtL.

Hurrah ITS FRIDAY yipeeeeeeeeee

NotActuallyAMum · 18/11/2005 12:06

Oh dear LTL - no heating for a month?? Don't think I could cope with that, I'm one of those people who's always cold!!!

MsT I don't know how you cope cycling to work every day, specially in this weather!

How is everyone today? I'm very tired, DP been on nights since last Friday and I don't sleep very well when he's not there but he's off now till Tuesday so I'll catch up on my sleep over the weekend
