Does your SC have a room at your house?

Scenario:

Resident children
1 girl (10) going through puberty
1 boy (4)

SS is 14, stays over about 3-4 nights a month.

3 bedroom house. No other additional rooms to turn into a bedroom.

A) Let SS sleep on pull out bed in living room when over
B) Give SS a room - if so what do resident kids do?

Ask SS if he wants to share with 4yo or go on the couch. Let him choose.

Well with your set up it does sound like the pull out bed is the only real option besides moving to somewhere bigger.

We have a pull out bed under a bed so when SD is over she shares a room with DD. They consider it their room, painted to reflect both of them etc. SD stays over 4 nights a month. They have the biggest room. My DS has the smallest room, my other SS has a room which is multi functional but is painted and decorated in his style and all his toys on display. He too visits 4 nights a month.

I would give the boys the biggest room, buy a pull out bed, give SS some space in that room for his stuff. Paint it to reflect DS. DD has smallest room and use clever storage to make it seem bigger.

Yes but we had a big house.
Pull out bed or share with resident sibling.

I'd probably put the four year old in with us and give the room to the 14yo for that few days a month.

I'd say as long as he doesn't mind, a sofa bed would be fine 3-4 days a month? You could offer he bunks in with your youngest, but I know I wouldn't be keen with that age gap!

Can you explain the predicament to him?

He should share with his brother or you out the 4 year old in with you, or you have a sofa bed and sleep in the lounge. A child should have a bed , in a bedroom in their own home.

Have you got a big enough room to put both boys in that you could put a room divider in or do you have a 2nd Reception room downstairs that you could turn into a bedroom .I have 2 resident children aged 12 and 14 my ss 14 who has his own room he could have shared with my 12 year old but my dss is autistic and also has odd so needs his own space and it's fair for all kids then we've turned our dining room into quite a stunning bedroom tbf x

When I was growing up and visiting my DF & SM (and their DC when they came along) I have never had my own room.
I either slept in the 'office' until their first DC arrived but then they would sleep on the sofa bed and I would had their bed (but then I got told off by SM when I woke up and went into the completely open plan living/kitchen/dining area before they got up).
My DFs home has never felt like my home, in any way shape or form, SM saw to that and DF didn't realise to stand up for me.
