You need to remove her from the 30yr old friend I'd say, she sounds like a terrible influence on a young girl!

talcyone · 22/03/2007 14:34

Yep!
This woman has just left her dh and kids for another man.
Seems she should concentrate on her own family
Sorry to sound like a snob
But she is scum
and now i'm feeling cross!

I would get in my car, drive to where she is, tell her to pack her things and drive her back, even if it means her sleeping on the sofa.

Then I'd force her father and bf into a meeting to discuss it all.

I'd also drag her to NCT classes and to talk to new mums on maternity wards etc.

Only when she has seen all you can throw at her can she then make up her mind as to what she wants to do.

Tortington · 22/03/2007 14:37

you cant go out with your mates on new years eve - with a baby.

you cant get pissed in ibiza with your mates - with a baby.

18 years, 18 years.

oh - and do point out to her that GOOD mothers dont plan to have a baby that they can't afford.

try:

other than a baby - if you wanted to be something else ( other than famous) what would it be.

when she tells you - let me know.

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 14:39

LoveMyGirls said "I will NEVER know what its like to be an adult without children"

Yes! I had my first at 19 (unplanned), and that is one thing that really does get to me sometimes!

Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 14:41

You can't both go out at the same time.

Your friends will stop coming round as babies don't interest them.

You can't deal with a screaming child when you have a hangover.

When a baby gets colic, you get NO sleep.

The baby might not sleep through the night until it is 1 year old, maybe even 2 or 3 years old.

She will be too self concious to wear a bikini or hipsters because of her stretch marks.

She can't drink or smoke during pregnancy.

Her sex life will be nil for a while.

ScottishThistle · 22/03/2007 14:41

Doesn't make you sound like a snob!

Do all of her friends have babies & she feels like the odd one out by any chance?

One of my clever friends had a Baby at 16, only because she was 18wks pregnant when she found out...It's taken her 18yrs to sort her life out & she has always said had she had the choice she'd never have had a child at that age but she couldn't face adoption!

talcyone · 22/03/2007 14:43

When she lived with us
I got her work experience at my then workplace....nursery.
Tried to channel it professionally1
She was really good.'
Shit gonna \be late for the kids custardo
Smiley lady alert

you will know what its like to be an adult without children lovemygirls. you will.

i had my son when i was 17. then i had twins. ( so stupid i did it twice) however i have 4 years until the twins hit 18. by which time i will be 38.

might sound old to you at the moment but i could have another 38 years - my life again - not being responsible for my children.

and i went snowboarding, have a career, degree etc.

but i want my children to have it easy. Children are hard. the ultimate in responsability. i want my kids to have it easier than i did.

i want them to have jobs, qualifications, ambitions. i want them to have mad passionate sex on the beach with someone called pablo. i want them to experience much much more than children. they can have children later - but youth ...ahhhh.... youth comes but once. use it wisely to fuck pablo and get sand in yer crack.

Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 14:47

I hate sand!

talcyone · 22/03/2007 14:47

Pablo sounds good though!

i dont

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2007 14:48

this sort of thing does piss me off a bit. all this having kids young bashing.
geees, not everyones experience of having kids young is a pile of shite.

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 14:49

Does a pedro count custy?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2007 14:49

lol at the pablo bit!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2007 14:49

frederico?

Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 14:50

No, but this girl's track record and her present situation doesn't bode well does it?

Most teens don't PLAN to have kids, if they do then of course you are going to question their reasoning. Seems ludicrous that by law your kids cannot have alcohol until they are 18 but they can have kids at 16.

Tortington · 22/03/2007 14:50

instead of general terms if i make this personal ladyoftheflowers. personally i would not like my children to have children at 16.17. or 18 or 19.

would it be a life choice you would advocate to your daughter or son? i'm sure you will answer 'yes it was great for me' however i want my children to experience more from life.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2007 14:53

no, i wouldnt want them to have them that young and neither did i.
i wasnt directing at you custy, it was a general sort of.....rant.

LoveMyGirls · 22/03/2007 14:53

PMSL custy - i know i will have some freedom when i get to 40ish which is why i had my 2nd child at 23 and started a childminding business at 24 because i want to enjoy every second of my children being young so when im 40, drunk with some guy called pablo or my dp (dh if he ever gets his finger out and we can ever save enough money to buy a house and pay for a wedding!!!) I won't feel guilty that i havent spent any time with my kids

I do get some time off now, pil are very good with the kids and im luckier than some, i have still done things like festivals but my first festivals i cried all the way thorugh manic street preachers because i missed dd so much!!!!!! You just can't go back and have your youth, sometimes i get a glimse of it now and again but its not without a price.

Tortington · 22/03/2007 14:53

i have to leave work now - i've been industrious as you can tell to get shouted at at parents evening - anothr joy to tell her about. BBL, to see if anyone can top "prick" so to speak

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2007 14:55

aaawwwww, custy.

you're not a prick!
