Can understand where you are coming from both with the feelings and with the going ahead with it anyway cos I've been in similar circs before now and felt really bad about feeling like that when I know in my head all the reasons for everything. Guess its all very easy to be logical and understanding on the one hand but you cant help feeling uneasy and upset about it. thats normal IMO
I did actually go to dss's maternal grandads funeral but then I did know him. Guess going yourself would be too much what with getting ready to go away and everything.

NotActuallyAMum · 11/05/2006 13:31

Certainly is a difficult one, but you seem to be coping fantastically so far. Think you need to keep busy while they're away - shouldn't be difficult with your dd and a holiday to prepare for Grin Where are you going? [nosey emoticon]

Hello alligator - how are you?

alligator · 11/05/2006 13:40

I'm ok thanks Naam. Just praying I'm not comig down with the bug dp and dd have. Its like a really bad cold/flu.

Having fun with BM again. Joy of joys!!! Ach well such is life.

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 13:41

Thanks Ladies - I know it'll all be OK in the end - I just have reservations - I mean they were married once, get on great now, know all the people who'll be there, she's in a tricky emotional state - splitting up, mum dying etc - I guess my brain box is working overtime !!

Well NAAM we're off to a friends farmhouse (with pool !!)in a village in the hills above Malaga - DH, DD and me for five days then some friends, their kids and DSS come out to join us for another week !!
My friend is absolutely lovely and has let us have the house for nothing, just pay pool guy and the lady who comes to clean !! Grin

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 13:44

Aaah Alligator - poor you have you been nursemaid ?

alligator · 11/05/2006 13:58

lol ME!!!! NURSEMAID!!! god no!!! I told dp to take things easy and worry about the housework as he wsnt well so he didnt....

I came home to find both lawns cut all the hedges trimmed, garden tidied and a nice picnic salad ready for dinner plus he'd taken dd out for a nice long walk in the woods. He was 'working it off' Nutter.
How if I was ill I'd be lying down and getting everyone else to do the work

alligator · 11/05/2006 13:59

taht should be NOT worry abouthe housework

alligator · 11/05/2006 14:00

I could do with a holiday like that. Try not to worry tho. I'm sure dp just wants to get back so he can go on hols with you.

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 14:01

Maybe it was a freudian slip and you really did forget the "Don't" when you had the actual conversation !! Grin

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 14:03

Thanks Alligator - I've got so much to do I can't allow myself to get het up over it!!

alligator · 11/05/2006 14:23

got any room in a bag for a snappy one? I could do with lazing by pool for a few days Grin

Dp did actually turn round and say 'Well I didn't do the house work just like you told me. I jsut pottered round in hte garden instead'

his idea of pottering and mine are a tad different.

NotActuallyAMum · 11/05/2006 14:33

Sounds lovely yiam Smile How nice of your friend

alligator LOL at you leaving out "don't" Grin

Just been for lunch, could have stayed by that lake and watched the ducks all afternoon....

Have to go food shopping later - boo!!

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 14:34

Come on over - meet you in Bristol airport on the 18th - I'll bring a snappy proof bag for you to get in !!

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 14:36

NAAM - try to make a list and get round in double quick time - don't deviate !!

alligator · 11/05/2006 14:39

cool

Actually considering the weather I might swim down the Thames and up the severn then I could visit nice little coastal towns on route and be in Bristol nicely by the 18th Grin and snack on a few early bathers/surfers on hte way.

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 14:43

Well what a lovely trip that would be !! - I look out for you on the news then !!

NotActuallyAMum · 11/05/2006 14:50

Oh yes I always make a list - and DP is amazed at how quick I can get round a supermarket. What he doesn't realise is that I elbow everyone out of the way as I go round Grin

DP and I have been busy discussing our wedding plans, we're thinking of getting married \link{http://www.noelarmshotel.com/hotel/index.shtml\here} - it's about 1.5 hours from us and not too expensive. Going to check it out one weekend Smile

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 14:52

OOOH NAAM it's lovely - Chipping Campden is not too far from me - I'll come and coo at you !!!!

NotActuallyAMum · 11/05/2006 14:59

lol yiam Grin It certainly looks nice, DP and I have never been down that way but everyone says what a lovely area it is. I would have loved to have gone abroad but budget doesn't allow because we'd have to go in school holidays

DP and dsd have been teasing me becaue I've said I'm not spending any more than £200 on my dress - they reckon I'm mean Grin but I think that's plenty, I've been on ebay and there are some gorgeous ones well within my budget

yeahinaminute · 11/05/2006 15:12

Good God £200 should be plenty
I had mine made in silk by a local dressmaker who makes all her own designs/patterns too and that was £220

Ahhh - it'll be lovely

Off now ladies - enjoy the rest of the day - even if you have to spend some of it in the supermarket!

Girls night in tonight with friend and DD (3) DH and DSS both away !!

Spag Bol and a bottle of wine!!

Speak soon - YIAM xx

NotActuallyAMum · 11/05/2006 15:23

Wish I had a quiet night, I hate shopping!! Never mind, quiet night tomorrow. We're definitely having a barbeque Smile

btw do any of you shop online? Don't know who to go with, I'm thinking Tesco. Suppose I could open an account with all of them and compare Grin

NotActuallyAMum · 12/05/2006 10:47

Hello all Smile

I'm off home at 12 today, got the afternoon off to sit in the sun and do bugger all Grin

Hope everyone's OK

Squirrel3 · 12/05/2006 12:06

Oh bugger, I missed you Naam, the interview went well (well better than I thought it would) so we will see.

Enjoy your afternoon in the sun, that's exactly what I intend to do this afternoon (had the day off because of the interview).

Happy relaxing! Grin

alligator · 15/05/2006 09:40

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!! I've got a cold and feel like SHIt. Glad the interview went well Squirrel Grin.

Am gonna have a massive RANT now sufermum will understand this one.

I HATE LICE and am massively pissed off with both DP and BM cos I've been saying dss has got them for WEEKS now and neither of them has done ANYTHING about it. In fact BM was wittering on how she thought dss had excema as his head is sore and itchy and it is sore cos he's been bitten to F**K. Anyway he finally asked for a haircut so I cut it and went through his hair at the same time and got as many out as poss. I've wanted to do it before but feel like I'm invading his privacy if I do cos he's at that age now where he doesn't like people touching him cept his mum and dad. I asked dp to do it but he and bm both seem to think that dss is old enough to do it himself. Well the evidence shows that he bloody well isnt. Tore a huge strip off dp last night.
Feel better now. Grin

NotActuallyAMum · 15/05/2006 09:58

Hello all Smile Hope everyone had a good weekend

Squirrel really glad your interview went well Smile

Hello alligator, sorry your dss has lice, they really are awful aren't they, and I know how bloody frustrating it is when you just know you're right but no-one will listen to you! Glad you tore a strip off DP last night, he deserved it!!

Hope everyone's OK

Surfermum how's your diet going? I've gone off the rails big time this weekend......

Workingmum hope you're OK, thinking about you
