Cup thingy??? Yes, we got knocked out on Saturday. Bloody painful it was. Gits!!

I know what you mean about taking on too much, but it was a case of "well, when we're taking 2 another 1 doesn't make a huge difference". The 'other' friend is moving to Southend in a few weeks so we thought it'd be nice to give them all a holiday they can remember. But if I do end up running around after them all week I will insist that DP takes me away for a weekend to recover

Squirrel3 · 03/07/2006 12:20

Posts crossed Naam!

I'm sure they'll be fine, they're all pretty good kids. If it doesn't work though, needless to say it'll be the last time we take a friend with us!!

Just looked at your camping thread, that holiday park looks lovely, I'm sure you'll all have a fab time

FruitAndNutcase · 03/07/2006 14:49

Helloooooooooooooooooooooo all!!! The fruit and nutcase is back in the UK, unfortunately!!!! Glad to see all my buddies on here though of course How is everyone? NAAM did you have a good holiday? Squirrel, just read your post about DSS text.....awwwwwwwwww..... that must mean so much

Squirrel3 · 03/07/2006 15:24

Hello FANC, did you have a good holiday?

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 03/07/2006 15:48

Helloooo FANC

Holiday?? Oh, erm, you mean that distant memory?? Yes we had a lovely time thank you

How was yours?

Squirrel how's your dss1? Hope he's back on the straight and narrow

DPs gran is coming out of hospital today, what a relief

FruitAndNutcase · 03/07/2006 17:06

Hi Squirrel and NAAM, I had a wonderful holiday thank you. Everyone keeps telling me off in work because im so brown! Mind you with temperatures over 40 degrees every day, how could anyone not be brown??? Glad you had a good holiday too NAAM. So wot have I missed? I havent had time to read through all the threads today as got 2 weeks of work to catch up on!

NotActuallyAMum · 04/07/2006 12:30

Hello all

You didn't miss much FANC, and of course we're all still nutty

Hope everyone's OK

mummyno2 · 04/07/2006 14:57

Hello all. Hope everyone is well is nutty stepmum world.

Naam fancy a cyber beer to commiserate over last Saturday?

Squirrel, that was so sweet of your dss to text that he loved you. Did he have a good time at the festival?

Squirrel3 · 05/07/2006 09:13

Naam, dss1 does seem to be back on the straight and narrow, bloody good job too! Dp was offered a job that was £14.000 a year more than his current salary but he turned it down because it meant that dss1 would be without a job!!!!!

£14.000! Oh what we could do with that! Oh well, its done now! I know its the right thing to do as far as dss1 goes but £14.000!

Our holiday conformation came today and dp has named me as Mrs 'his surname'! (mind you they have spelt it wrongly, I think they must be expecting a German family who are going to get up early and put towels on all of the sun loungers!!!!!! )

Nice to have you back mummyno2, (btw it was my ds who went to the festival, and yes, he loved it thanks)

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 05/07/2006 09:41

Squirrel! I'd have been bloody furious!! That aside, how are you? Hope you're OK

Hello mummyno2 Yes could definitely do with a cyber beer - I rarely say no to a drink

How's everyone else? Hope everyone's OK

Squirrel3 · 05/07/2006 10:20

Naam, I understand why he turned it down, if dss1 hasn't got a job he will get bored, then he will start to hang around with his scummy mates again (none of them work, I don't know where they get the money for drugs), his Mum will throw him out, he will have to live here, I will not be happy being put in that situation again (him taking drugs and having to get him off them again I mean).

We can just see it happening, so it is the best thing for dss1 for now, but yes, I keep on thinking £14.000 a year! On the otherhand I do want what is best for dss1.

That aside, I am fine, got the contract for the new job yesterday, filled in the medical form, signed both the contract and medical and posted them back! Just waiting for a start date now. I've got a feeling they will start me after the holiday, well, I hope so.

How are things with you?

mummyno2 · 05/07/2006 10:31

Morning. Weather can't seem to make its mind up in London this morning. Went to work with sunny blue skies and now it is cloudy, drizzly but still warm?
If you've read the other thread, were still missing one of dsd2 shoes!

NotActuallyAMum · 05/07/2006 11:26

Glad you're OK Squirrel. I know what you mean, I'd be the same in wanting the best for dss but still feeling a bit miffed. I'm OK thank you, getting ready for the weekend. We're playing Auntie NAAM and Uncle DP on Saturday night, got my eldest brother's 4 kids staying the night - we must be mad No it'll be fine, they're good kids. Be hectic but nice iyswim. dsd is really looking forward to it. Hope you can start your new job after your holiday, give you a nice break

mummyno2 our weather's anyhow too, looks like we're in for a damn good thunderstorm!!

btw mummyno2 I read your other thread, I think if it was me I'd buy dsd some new shoes - cheap ones mind you - albeit grudgingly but just to keep the peace

Squirrel3 · 05/07/2006 11:33

Its tooooooooo hot here, its really muggy, I can't stand it!!!!!

We need a blooming good thunder storm (sorry know you don't like them Naam but I love em!)

You must be mad, fancy having 5 kids over night! Mad, mad, mad!

mummyno2, I'm with Naam, I'd buy her a cheap pair but I'd be a bit miffed at the same time though.

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 05/07/2006 11:36

btw mummyno2, you can almost guarantee that the other shoe will turn up the second you do buy new shoes though.

OP posts:
mummyno2 · 05/07/2006 11:39

Indeed 5 kids, good luck to you Naam

dp and I talked about it last night and decided to whip dsd2 down to the local Priceless shoe shop at the weekend. Their mum talked to dp on msn last night. It seems that their housing association are after them over unpaid rent (although they have a new LCD Tv!!!!). Think when her dh got a job they didn't do the whole benefit thing properly and have now got themselves into a big hole they can't get out of. So a pair of shoes seems quite insignificant. Although yes Squirrel, I'm still miffed about it.

mummyno2 · 05/07/2006 11:41

I know it will, things always do at their mums! And forevermore after that it will sit mocking me in the cupboard under the stairs!

NotActuallyAMum · 05/07/2006 11:50

oooooo errrrr the rain has started!! Since dsd moved in with us I've tried very hard to be brave in thunderstorms - don't want her growing up like me! - and I've done well so far even though I say so myself. Still a way to go but at least I'm moving in the right direction

NotActuallyAMum · 06/07/2006 14:45

OK where is everyone???

We escaped the storms yesterday - just. None today either, bit strange really because when DP was at work this morning they had a huge storm but we didn't hear a thing here and as the crow flies it's only about 10 miles away

Hope everyone's OK

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 14:55

Hiya Naam, just got in from a shopping trip, I was getting a few things for my holiday.

I ordered (and paid for) a new bikini over a month ago, they sent an email asking me if I am sure I wanted to order a bikini top in that size. Bloody cheek! Thats why I ordered it from them because it is so hard to find tops to fit! Doh! I wouldn't pay £50 for a bloody bikini otherwise, grrrrr!

Anyway, after many emails being sent to them and not receiving the bikini I phoned them this morning, they told me they would phone me right back, yeah right! I'm going to get on the phone now and demand either the bikini or my money back by Monday!

Rant over!

How are you Naam?

OP posts:
alligator · 06/07/2006 15:00

Hi NAAM got 5 mins to myself for once. Its been manic here at work but everything suddenly started working now.

Glad the storm missed you. We've had rain on and off yesterday and today but luckily not when I've been cycling.

Know the feeling re shoes mn2. Have that here too. Luckily dss is getting a bit better at looking after his own stuff now because he knows they will be replaced from his pocket money. He's old enough at 14 for that I think. I've also been trying to give him strategies for tidying and sorting his stuff cos I'm not naturally neat and tidy myself either.

Gosh that campsite sounds posh Squirrel. We are going here . A bit different from yours I think .

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:07

It looks really nice Alligator, trouble with my stepkids they want entrtainment and the works.

I would be quite happy with a site like that (as long as I could have my electric hook-up of course!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 06/07/2006 15:11

Hello to you both

Hope you get your bikini sorted Squirrel, that's the trouble with mail order isn't it? But it's essential for us folk who hate shopping

Your campsite looks nice too alligator nice part of the country

When do you both go? I'm away from 22nd for a week. Well, hopefully 21st but we won't know till nearer the time

dsd suddenly decided she wanted to phone her mum last night. I was a little bit angry because she asked DP if she could go to a party on Saturday and he said no. She went out sulking in the garden for an hour then decided she wanted to ring her. I'm convinced she only did it because DP said no to her (a rarity!) but I guess it's a good thing really. BM came and picked her up and they went out for an hour. That's the first time she's had a civilised conversation with her since she left so hopefully they'll patch things up. Still annoyed with DP though - he just can't see that she's playing games with him but I think this is one of the times when I have to sit back and let them all get on with it ~~sigh~~

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:17

Yes Naam, us step-mums have to do alot of that ('sitting back and and letting them get on with it' I mean).

It a bit frustrating though I know, but it is good dsd is talking to her Mum now.

You do have to be carful she doesn't land up playing one against the other all of the time now, you can't let her have all of the power. Having said that, I know its easier said than done.
