BTW, I phoned them they day that a whole batch of stock that was posted on that day has gone missing, they are looking at their stock to see if they have another in my size to send out today.

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:21

that was meant to say "they say".

When someone gives you an excuse like that do you find yourself thinking "yeah, right!" or am I just an untrusting git! LOL

Yes I know what you mean Squirrel, she's been allowed to do that far too much IMO. I'm going to tell DP that if she does eventually want to go back there, she has to be told that she can't keep to-ing and fro-ing between the two houses as she sees fit - if she goes back she goes back for good. Or is that a bit harsh? I was thinking of saying it to her myself rather than DP saying it - she knows that without my help (because of DPs shifts) she couldn't have lived with us. Think if she does go back it's a long way off yet anyway

Been raining here, still no storms though. From what people ringing in are saying everyone around us seems to have had thunder and lightning so it must be avoiding me, must have heard about me

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:31

Your right Naam, she can't keep on to-ing and fro-ing (btw that looks really odd written down mmmmmmm...)

We haven't had any thunder storms yet either, we do need one though, its really muggy and when its like that you can't sleep at night so all you want to all day is sleep! ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz!

lol dss would love all that too esp now that he's old enough to go to hteteen club and things like that but we cant afford it and it would drive dp mad. We went to one once and it was awful.
We were the only people in small tents and were like a freak show with people peering out of their huge tents/caravans to watch us cooking breakfast. Dss had a major freak everytime we left the campsite as he wanted to stay there all day and then spent all evening begging for money to go on the games machines etc. NIGHTMARE but very funny looking back on it.
Took him the following year to here and we had a much better holiday.
Dp is so good at finding things of interest in the woods and getting the kids involved in making things. Think we might have to do fire lighting lessons this year.

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:36

How is dd sleeping alligator, I bet your not getting much sleep, then having to go to work and I must say they seem to be working you much to hard lately!

Do you want me to have words with your boss?

OP posts:
alligator · 06/07/2006 15:39

all this playing off against each other sounds familiar NAAM. I agree with Squirrel think you need to stand firm and say shes got to decide and stick with it. otherwise shell led it from you to the mum and versa vice when things dont go her own way.

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:41

I think my step-kids have been spoilt, they find it so hard to just amuse themselves, they tend to think a walk in the woods is a chore rather than something exciting or interesting. I used to love going to the woods, still do!

Dss and Dsd seem to want to be entertained all of the time, they even get bored going to the beach Which btw is my fav past-time!

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 06/07/2006 15:41

Speaking of tents, dsd has one - she's had it for years apparantly. DP says it's quite big, sleeps 8 people. She asked last night if we could put it up on the lawn so her and my brothers kids could sleep in it on Saturday night!! Erm - no! Can you imagine? No-one within a 100 yard radius would get any sleep!!

Just tried to find a thread to link to but I can't find it! There was a post from someone who's ds said "I don't think we should tell the dogs down the park that we have bones in our body" Made me absolutely PMSL

alligator · 06/07/2006 15:45

dd's been sleepig a good bit better thanks Squirel tho she was very clingy last night before she went to sleep and its just too hot for clingy (proper wrap arms and legs around clingy) atm. BM and dss had a row and dp was on the phone for agees so I think she caught the tension at least I hope it was that and its not jsut her playing up for the craic.
Working way too hard here. Loads of things need to be upgraded to a deadline and there always something that doesnt get tested/goes horribly wrong. Had a good day today tho so having a break on here.

NotActuallyAMum · 06/07/2006 15:50

Glad you both agree that dsd should be told she either has to live with her mum or us, thank you But as I said, if she does go back I think it's a long way off

dsd is just the same Squirrel - she whinges and whines about walking anywhere, we have a shop literally about 150 yards down the road but even that's too much for her! But she'll happily walk into the next village - about 2 miles - with her mates!! And she wants to be entertained all the time too, she's not quite so bad now she lives with us but when she 'visited' she used to think we should take her somewhere all the time. Kids just seem to think we have a never-ending pot of money don't they? My sister's are just the same

Having said that, we have told her we'll take her here during the holiday, it's less than half an hour from us - and we like there too

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 15:57

Ohhhhhhh Naam, the shockwave and the Stormorce look fantastic!!!!!!!

I want to go!!!!!!

OP posts:
alligator · 06/07/2006 15:59

Dont get me wrong dss does a brilliant line in 'I'm booooooored' too and was in 2 minds whether to come with us cos its a 3 mile walk to the campsite and he'd have to carry a rucksack. Oh the horror!!! (Its exactly the same as we have been doing for years except that we aren't carrying axes, helmets and costumes as well so I dont knwo what he is complaining about )

alligator · 06/07/2006 16:00

oooo that looks really good NAAM Count me in too. Best get the big pants out too

mummyno2 · 06/07/2006 16:00

How fast has today gone? This is the first moment I have got to myself all day!

Luckily enough my dsd's (aged 7 1/2) don't really play dp off against their mum and vice versa. They normally play me off against dp crafty little buggers . Naam, hope your dsd realises where her bread is buttered at the end of the day. As you said she is not used to her dad saying no.

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 16:01

Three miles!!!!!!!

You are not taking your axe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 16:04

Sorry, I don't get it, did you say walk three miles?

And you are not taking your beloved axe? [shock

OP posts:
mummyno2 · 06/07/2006 16:04

Wake up squirrel.

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 16:06

Did I really see right? Did alligator really say those things?

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 06/07/2006 16:08

lol

I've been on Shockwave - it's very good but over sooooo quickly. Then again I think most rollercoasters are like that. Not been on Shockwave yet, will do when we go though. I like the rapids - nice and gentle

If any of you fellow nutty stepmums want to go there you're welcome to stay at ours for the night - and I am serious, be nice to see any of you As long as you don't all come at the same time lol We're less than an hour away from Alton Towers too, and about an hour to American Adventure , although I've heard that's more for smaller children. Never been myself

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 16:10

Alligator, admit it, this is you isn't it!

OP posts:
Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 16:17

Thanks Naam, I might just take you up on that one day! Will you provide lots of alcohol?

No, tell you what I'll bring an extra case jam packed with the stuff!

OP posts:
mummyno2 · 06/07/2006 16:17

Poxy work internet, won't let me see the picture . What is it Squirrel? A pair of big pants ?

Squirrel3 · 06/07/2006 16:21

A bit hard to describe mummyno2, think Saxon Porn Star, clad in insy-winsy chain mail, throwing an axe! PMSL

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 06/07/2006 16:23

lol at the picture

Alcohol is a must Squirrel, it's the law in our house

I do mean it, any of you would be more than welcome - I know you all live a fair distance from me, it wouldn't be easy to go there in a day. Drayton Manor has a fantastic zoo too - and very peaceful considering it's in a massive theme park
