Think I need to watch Fever Pitch before Sunday....... And just dream.........

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 17/05/2024 23:30

Great film. I remember the night well. One of my favourite memories of my father.

Brefugee · 18/05/2024 08:26

Last day of the Bundesliga today. Gladbach away against 3rd placed Stuttgart. Oh well.

So let's make a list of football(related) films we can watch in the off-season.

So Fever Pitch was already mentioned.
I'll add When Saturday Comes (a Sean Bean fever dream) and Bend it like Beckham

You've been great, and you are right WBA have come so far this season.

9 days time...

@lingmerth sorry in my excitement I forgot to tag you.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 18/05/2024 11:34

Escape to Victory. Although we usually watch that at Christmas for some reason.

89, but that probably only for Arsenal fans.

DuncinToffee · 18/05/2024 11:54

The Damned United
Mike Bassett
Marvellous

Howard's Way, but probably more for Everton fans Smile

Or the award winning podcast series: Everton: Nothing Will Be The Same (BBC sounds)

De Zerbi is leaving Brighton

next Bayern Munchen manager?

OP posts:
MrsMitford3 · 18/05/2024 16:36

I can't believe he'd leave without an offer in his hand but I am surprised tbh.

wonder where he is going... United??

Brefugee · 18/05/2024 16:36

They'll deffo give him a look - but who wants to go to Bayern as trainer with all those idiots shoving their oar in. I'm impressed that Tuchel has flipped them the bird too.

But Stuttgart have just finished 2nd (they were in the relegation last year so this is phenomenal) and their trainer may now also be a Bayern target - the trainer, Sebastian Hoeness, is the brother of one of the Big Bayern Bosses (the tax evading, ex-con Uli Hoeness). I hope he stays where he is.

Stuttgart (as i expected) smashed Gladbach 4-0 today. And thus Gladbach have their worst season for 15 years. It's not that long ago we were regularly playing champions/europa league.

DuncinToffee · 18/05/2024 18:43

Oh dear, you really can't make this up

The Premier League have produced a cartoon video celebrating the season, they missed one club out.

Any guesses 😂

Och (as my friend would say- love it describes so much) I'd have let you wallow with us. Always feel much of an outlier on general MN feel we should all be able to celebrate and wallow together.

DuncinToffee · 18/05/2024 21:48

You're a better person than me Nobby Grin

I appreciate that the wallowing is kept to a seperate thread, thanks @myrtleWilson

Marco Reuss left Dortmund today. The ultras in the home end did a big Choreo and he got a big send off. And he bought all the beer for them in the stadium today. Every beer in the stadium, 81,000 capacity, was bought for the fans by one of their players. Stunning.

MrsMitford3 · 18/05/2024 22:04

@Brefugee how absolutely brilliant!!

AndNobbyDancing · 18/05/2024 22:12

And there goes a gentleman

burblish · 18/05/2024 22:48

@Brefugee Oh, now that's superb - chapeau to Marco Reus! I saw he also nabbed both a goal and an assist today, so he had an incredible end to his Dortmund career both on and off the pitch today.

burblish · 18/05/2024 23:12

Actually, an amazing final day in the Bundesliga in many respects: Bayer Leverkusen the first Bundesliga team to go through the season unbeaten; Bayern collapsing from being 2-0 up after 6 mins to lose 4-2 and slip to third place (but still with more wins and more points than they got when they won the title last season - which shows just how good Bayer Leverkusen have been!); Stuttgart astonishingly claiming second after being in the relegation play-off last season: Union Berlin pulling off a final day win to avoid the relegation play-off place on goal difference (congrats also to @Brefugee's beloved Gladbach for also avoiding the relegation play-off place despite losing today (sigh of relief!)).

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 18/05/2024 23:17

Good to see Kane has taken the Sp*rs with him...
