Bournemouth at home is good for me, employer gets tickets so I should be there.

Saints drew today against my least favourite team.

AndNobbyDancing · 28/01/2024 19:28

I was disappointed with the Maidstone draw, away to a big PL team or a home would have been better.

Sorry Brefugee, hope if Wednesday get through they stick to their new nickname

what's their new nickname?

AndNobbyDancing · 28/01/2024 19:40

You coined it 😆 Sheffield Wednesday Nil, I know things have got a little better but sorry it has stuck.

Brefugee · 28/01/2024 20:26

haha - oh yes, that one.

So has the draw for the next round of the FA Cup been done? is there a fixture list?

I was also hoping for PL opposition, however the way Maidstone are playing it is a very winnable tie for them.

I’m kinda hoping Wrexham beat Blackburn tonight. Playing them in the next round might be fun.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 29/01/2024 20:53

Apropos of nothing - I'd completely forgotten about this goal from one of the world's richest men;

I see Everton's appeal hearing begins tomorrow - wishing them luck.

BitOutOfPractice · 30/01/2024 18:49

Oh hello! I’m still smiling from wolves’ win against West Brom on Sunday. We hardly got out of second gear. It was bloody marvellous!

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 30/01/2024 22:24

Unexpectedly feckin fantastic result at Villa Park for Newcastle tonight but yet another injury picked up 😐

If Isak ruled out then we have no fit centre forwards and still only 3 fit midfielders with Bruno one yellow card away from a 2 match ban.

It’s never a dull moment being a Newcastle fan.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 30/01/2024 22:51

Banana skin dodged against Forest...

DuncinToffee · 30/01/2024 23:11

We got a point with a very depleted squad so that's an ok result.

We will never get a penalty, it's hard not to turn into a conspiracy theorist when it comes to the EPL vs Everton, sigh

Ah, Darwin Nunez - got the kind of record tonight that nobody wants: he hit the woodwork FOUR times (one of which was a penalty with the keeper going the wrong way), more than any other player ever in a single Premier League match. Bless the lad, he never stopped running: 11 shots at goal and none went in, but he did get an assist. Maybe he needs to start aiming a foot in from where he currently does! 😆

domineastronomy · 01/02/2024 22:41

What a match at Molineux tonight!
Just the best of the Premier League. Man United are beginning to look like a cohesive team with a fighting spirit that seemed to be lacking in the early part of the season.

Great game for neutrals.
I was hiding behind my dog towards the end 😂

A largely uneventful transfer window and deadline day this time round - dare I say, it's rather refreshing (a relief, even) after the quite obscene sums splashed out in the previous few. (I imagine FFP fears stifled more than one potential purchase, in light of what has happened with Everton and Forest. The tendency for prices to get jacked up for the January window may also have have added to those concerns.)

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 02/02/2024 08:10

Indeed. Not saying I wouldn't have been averse to a top striker coming in to stop us having more of those games like the last Liverpool game where we completely dominated, but couldn't actually put the ball in the net...

Oblomov23 · 03/02/2024 14:32

Everton v Spurs 2-2. Oh dear, good game, cross we didn't play better to stop that draw.

DuncinToffee · 03/02/2024 14:46

Definitely a good point for us, especially with all the injuries.

I thought the first half was good to watch, the second was scrappy with the stop start.

I was disappointed with Maddison's rolling around at the slightest touch.

Happy with the point Football

Gave away so many corners and free kicks today, asking for trouble. Vicario needs more protection in those situations, he has been flapping in the air a lot lately.

Watching Gills v Walsall at Priestfield, 0-0, not much to report first half hour. 2 out of our 4 new signings started and 1 on the bench.

burblish · 03/02/2024 18:15

Wow, what a goal fest in the Prem today: at least 4 goals in every match (as I type, Villa are 4-0 up against Sheffield Utd and we are still in the first half).

Brefugee · 03/02/2024 18:42

oh Sheffield-Wednesday-nil, you never let me down. At least United are getting a worse tanking.
Gladbach lost against Bayern as expected.
am aghast at the decision about that Newcastle fan. I'm afraid that much as i love their coach, I won't ever be rooting for them again.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 03/02/2024 21:17

I am very very conflicted about the decision making of some at the club as well @Brefugee. obviously they’re my club and I love the players on the pitch who will, I imagine have absolutely no idea of this area of controversy. But. I’m so disappointed that the club have continued to pursue this. The article in the telegraph yesterday was particularly shocking and everyone, no matter where they fall on the gender critical divide should be wary of the direction of travel this kind of stuff takes us in.

Back to on the pitch, I can be sure I have no cardiac issues because if I did then by Christ following Newcastle would have rooted them out.

Brefugee · 03/02/2024 21:25

i have a massive soft spot for Eddie Howe so i will be looking out for results.
I saw a tweet with a picture of Alan Shearer and the text of something like "women don't have a penis". Will be interesting to see where this all goes. (maybe other NUFC fans want to get in touch with the Leverkusen fans and borrow their banner ;) )
