Well, they've announced the calendar so we can have a thread now Grin

2015 races

Live on the beeb

Congrats Jenson and Jessica!

Will Lewis and Nico snipe at each other all season? Will little Verstappen (must stop calling him Jos jr) impress in his first race? Will Ferrari and McLaren improve or still be a bit shit? Can't wait for Melbourne!

I like Hamilton. He always seems so articulate. I also cut him loads of slack because it must be crazy weird to be a representative of sorts for so many people.

Great to see Kimi on the podium again.

Race was pretty good for Bahrain. Nico was impressive. Shame about JB.

OberonTheHopeful · 23/04/2015 20:48

I wish this thread didn't keeping dropping off the 'threads I'm on' list!

Good race at the weekend; I loved seeing Kimi on the podium again. He's always so emotional Grin I've long been a fan of Lewis so I thought it a good result.

I think McLaren still have some work to do, both with reliability and power, though I imagine Honda will working hard on the power unit right now. They've worked miracles in the past (I remember that they had a great partnership with Williams in the Mansell days), but the regulations have changed so much recently that they have a lot of catching up to do. I've never understood why they keep disappearing from the sport for a few years and then coming back.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/04/2015 09:34

I hate the three week breaks between races.

EauRouge · 26/04/2015 20:08

Me too. And I'm going to be away for the next race so I'll miss the excitement of the first European race. I wonder which teams will have the best updates.

OP posts:
OberonTheHopeful · 26/04/2015 20:46

Always an interesting question; I look forward to the next practice session to find out!

EauRouge · 30/04/2015 08:04

We might be looking at a loooooong winter break according to this.

What does everyone think of the Alonso retirement rumours? I don't think he will, he wants a third championship. Obviously he's not going to get it this year (or maybe not at McLaren at all unless they get their shit together). Maybe he'll have a year off. He's still young. He's the same age as me, and that is definitely young Grin

OberonTheHopeful · 04/05/2015 21:33

I'd b really surprised if Alonso retires, I think he would definitely want at least one more title. I can see that he might take a year out (as other drivers have before him), especially given the performance of the McLaren. Looks like he left Ferrari at just the wrong time.

Yes, a long winter, But at least we wouldn't then have this long gap in the season! Not sure how that would work for the teams though?

GaryBaldy · 09/05/2015 09:28

Alonso's home race...let's hope Mclaren can pull something out of the bag to save him from total humiliation.

magimedi · 09/05/2015 10:32

Have just read that Alonso has an eye infection & there is doubt over him racing at all.

GaryBaldy · 10/05/2015 09:08

Slight improvement in quali for the Mclarens but good to see Nico on pole...Lewis next to him and Seb behind should make for an interesting race.

CMP69 · 10/05/2015 12:30

Lost you all again Angry Looking forward to today's race. Will be interesting to see if Nico can stay in front of Lewis. The amazing McLaren transformation hasn't quite come to fruition but it is an improvement.
I don't think Alonso will retire yet he went to work with Honda on their engine but I don't know how long he will stick around if they don't up their game big style soon

GrouchyKiwi · 10/05/2015 21:14

Pretty boring race all in all, which is surprising. It should have been a good one.

Nice to get more fight in the season but I've really gone off Robert.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/05/2015 21:14

Haha, Rosberg, not Robert. Silly phone/brain combo.

CMP69 · 15/05/2015 18:47

Christian and Geri get wed
His parents didn't go but full of slebs

EauRouge · 19/05/2015 10:17

I've been away. I didn't get to see the race so I 'watched' it on BBC live text updates. I don't know who writes them, but they say a driver 'picks someone off' when they overtake them. They should probably say something different because the mental image I had of Maldonado 'picking someone off' was more like GTA than F1 Grin

Monaco this weekend!

My DM was telling me about the Horner/Ginger wedding (she lives very close to Woburn). Apparently, DC wore a kilt and Jackie Stewart was there. That's about all I know.

OP posts:
GaryBaldy · 19/05/2015 12:26

Yay EauRouge you're back!

Looking forward to Monaco, one of the best races IMO.

EauRouge · 21/05/2015 11:33

It's Monaco time! Hamilton fastest in first practice. Looks like little Verstappen did alright as well, and nice to see Grin up there too. FP2 in an hour.

Lewis has renewed his contract with Merc and will now earn in more one week than I will ever earn in a lifetime.

And in other news, I'm winning the Fantasy F1 but only just - it's pretty close between the top 4. So the Fantasy F1 league is probably going to be more unpredictable than actual F1.

OP posts:
FadedRed · 24/05/2015 17:55

Monaco result - well, what a cock-up!! What was all that about then - whose error? Confused Sad

GrouchyKiwi · 24/05/2015 18:27

Indeed. I'd be utterly livid. So impressed with Lewis' interview.

EauRouge · 24/05/2015 19:45

I don't think my hatred of Hamilton is any kind of secret, but no one deserves to lose a race like that.

OP posts:
magimedi · 24/05/2015 22:22

I hate Rosberg far more than I do Lewis & I was gutted by that result.

GaryBaldy · 24/05/2015 22:24

Yes poor Lewis...wouldn't like to be the one who made that decision in the Mercedes pit!

OberonTheHopeful · 26/05/2015 22:24

I missed the race (don't have Sky and heard the result before I was able to watch the highlights, so didn't bother) but doesn't sound like it went well for Lewis for reasons outside of his control :(

I think even Nico admits to 'mixed feelings' over the result, and I agree with Eau that no one deserves to lose like that. I don't think it's a secret that I'm a Lewis fan, but I would feel the same for anyone.

Ah well, let's see what happens at Canada!

OberonTheHopeful · 26/05/2015 22:26

On a (slightly) related note to the thread: is anyone going to the Formula E race(s) in Battersea at the end of June?

I thought I'd go along to see what it's all about Grin

EauRouge · 27/05/2015 08:25

I thought about it but I think we have something on that weekend. I haven't seen the last couple of FE races but I am trying to follow it.
