Well, they've announced the calendar so we can have a thread now Grin

2015 races

Live on the beeb

Congrats Jenson and Jessica!

Will Lewis and Nico snipe at each other all season? Will little Verstappen (must stop calling him Jos jr) impress in his first race? Will Ferrari and McLaren improve or still be a bit shit? Can't wait for Melbourne!

Definitely getting excited Grin

Not sure what to expect from the C4 coverage, I'm still a bit miffed that the BBC sold the rights.

And a new qualifying format, can't wait to see how it works out!

Maybe a new thread would be a good idea Smile

Anyone else getting excited??

To me the first race is the marker that winter is over!

Do we need a new thread?

Just heard on the 1 o'clock news that the BBC have stopped their contact three years early and won't be showing the F1 any more. The contract has gone to Channel 4. Is this good or bad news? Will we get all the GP's or just the limited number with lots of advertisement breaks?

Yes, looking forward to the next season :)

And hopefully next year's thread will stay in my watch list Grin

Well that's done for 2015, folks.
See you all in March 2016? Grin

This had disappeared from my Watch list.

Anyway. Can I suggest people look up the hashtag PlacesAlonsoWouldRatherBe on Twitter? Magnificent.

Feels a bit like the season has reached anticlimax because of Lewis winning in Austin.

I only managed to catch up with the highlights last night, though already knew the result, an incredible race. And great result for Lewis!

I'm sure there will be more opportunities for Nico in future seasons but he came uncomfortably close to looking like a bad loser on Sunday.

Brilliant news about Jenson Smile

Haven't watched the race (recording it) but know the result.

Great stuff Lewis!

Gather that Rosberg was not gracious in defeat! Quelle surprise!

That was a hell of a race!

Well done Lewis!

So. Jenson to stay for next year.

Russia tomorrow. Mercedes likely to win the Constructor's.

Wonder whether Lewis will take Rosberg at the first corner again, or will Nico do a better job this week.

Big crash for Sainz today; glad he is ok.

The 'orders from Bernie to have a bad day' one made me Grin Maybe he also got that guy to walk on the track!

For what ever reason Mercedes were struggling on this track, and at the same time Ferrari have made some big improvements to their power unit. I suppose we'll see if it's a more permanent shift at Japan.

It seems Lewis just suffered a traditional reliability issue; given just how complex and on the technical edge the cars are (for any team) it's bound to happen sometimes.

I really hope the rumours about Jenson aren't true.

Thanks for reply Grouchy.
Errr, thank that needs a pince of salt.
During the week before the race there was talk about Singapore just not suiting Mercedes set up and that it's all 'back to normal' next race.
We shall see.........

My favourite is that Bernie ordered Pirelli to give Mercedes disguised hard tyres. Grin

Also things like sabotaging their car, orders from Bernie to have a bad day, that kind of nonsense.

What conspiracy theories about Mercedes lack of pace, Grouchy?

Report
GrouchyKiwi · 20/09/2015 22:15

So that was a weird race. Man on the track!

Loving the conspiracy theories about Mercedes' lack of pace.

Japan next. I love Suzuka. Not sure I love it enough to get up to watch it live, though.

It was quite a shock to see Nico's car catch light, and obviously disappointing for him, especially so close to end of the race. I think he will struggle to win the championship now.

Weird stuff about the tyre pressure; from what I've read it was down to the tyre being cooler than normal when the pressure was taken.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/09/2015 19:06

Not that I'm happy about his car breaking, I think I should say! It must be terrifying for a driver when their car goes up in flames.

Report
GrouchyKiwi · 06/09/2015 18:34

Good thing Nico's car broke, I mean.

Report
GrouchyKiwi · 06/09/2015 18:33

Lewis' hair is ridiculous. I enjoyed his response on the radio when he was told not to take any risks.

The tyre pressure thing is interesting. Probably a good thing his car broke since the tyre pressure was so different on his.

Such a shame for Kimi but he drove a great recovery race.

Great stuff from Bottas and Massa at the end.

Wonder what's going to happen Lotus. Big disappointment for them; hope they can get enough money for next year - and the rest of this one.

Oooh are Mercedes playing dirty with tyre pressures?

Place marking this again, post hackergate name change.

Sort of fallen out of love with F1 a bit this season, but Spa was a good race. Will have a read later Smile

I'm really looking forward to the race too.

Did you see that McLaren got a total of 105 grid place penalties?! Starting from the back again.

Nice to see Lotus doing well today. Hope they can keep it up for the race.

Must admit I'm glad that Ferrari had a bad day today.
