Well, they've announced the calendar so we can have a thread now Grin

2015 races

Live on the beeb

Congrats Jenson and Jessica!

Will Lewis and Nico snipe at each other all season? Will little Verstappen (must stop calling him Jos jr) impress in his first race? Will Ferrari and McLaren improve or still be a bit shit? Can't wait for Melbourne!

Well, testing is over and it looks like we're set for another year of Merc domination- but will it be Hamilton again or Rosberg?

Schumi jr is racing in F4 this year. Little Schumi! I wish big Schumi would get better :(

CMP69 · 03/03/2015 14:02

No Alonso for Melbourne Sad and poor testing for McLaren. Looks like a slow start to the season again

BlueKarou · 03/03/2015 15:37

Whee - this is the best time of year; the sun's out more and we're gearing up for another long season of racing!

I was around last year under a different name. Think I did ok in the Fantasy league, mostly thanks to Lewis. Will PM you in a sec, Eau for the password. Thanks for setting it up again!

EauRouge · 03/03/2015 15:39

I wonder if I should do a thread in chat to see if more people want to join in the fantasy F1 league. Or will I get thousands of replies saying 'why is this in chat?'.

OP posts:
BlueKarou · 03/03/2015 16:22

It's worth a try. Worse case scenario no one looks at it and we just stick to the folks who find us in the sports section, best case scenario we get more people in the league.

EauRouge · 03/03/2015 16:39

OK, but if I get flamed then I'm blaming you Grin

curlyclaz13 · 03/03/2015 16:57

Joining in after seeing the thread pointing me this way ! Looks like Alonso is out for Oz.
Only saw a little bit of QofS as I had to get DS to sleep, might try to iplayer it if I remember.

AlpacaLypse · 03/03/2015 16:59

Having F1 on Sky is the only silver lining to DP's obsession with football. Australian GP is almost as much of a harbinger of spring as daffodils Smile.

And your thread in Chat has worked on me - here I am again!

LondonHuffyPuffy · 03/03/2015 17:05

Vroom vroom! Thanks for starting the thread in chat. NO flames from me, I would never have found you otherwise.

I'm a pretty big F1 fan but DH is totally and utterly obsessed. We have Sky and during the F1 season he pretty much watches the F1 channel and nothing else.

Can you please PM me the fantasy league password? i would love to join.

Thank you

CMP69 · 03/03/2015 17:08

Yeay more newbies well done Eau Grin

LondonHuffyPuffy · 03/03/2015 17:23

Whoop whoop! I am in the league!

I'm in under my old MN username - LulaPalooza.

Vroom vroooooooooooom!

AlpacaLypse · 03/03/2015 17:23

So sorry to see Bianchi is still unconcious (report 20th January).

Ohfourfoxache · 04/03/2015 09:57

Eau you're a star - thanks for posting in chat!

I'm a massive McLaren fan (have been since the Hakkinen days, so 98/99) - very interested to see how things pan out wih Honda. Sadly though I'm not sure they stand much of a chance this season - especially as Merc have done so well. Shame, as I'd love to see JB fighting for the title this year.

Sparklingbrook · 04/03/2015 10:03

Hi all. I am a bit of a flaky dipper inner and outerer of F1 but generally know about what's going on. Looking forward to Geri & Christians wedding shenanigans too!

CatsCantTwerk · 04/03/2015 10:16

Checking in! Dp and I have weekend tickets for Silverstone this year, I'm so excited, Ive never been before Grin

EauRouge · 04/03/2015 10:20

I miss Hakkinen, he retired too early. The new McLaren isn't looking good at the moment but maybe they'll pull some decent upgrades out of the bag for Spain.

Ohfourfoxache · 04/03/2015 10:25

Oh Cats Envy I'm so jealous!

Went on race day in 2013 (that's the one where there were lots of problems with the tyres) and it was brilliant. The atmosphere was utterly unique - we go to Silverstone a fair bit, but this was something else.

Also I've never, ever seen a queue for the gents loos like it. The ladies queue was non existent however!

Make sure you slather yourself in sun lotion though - I forgot and ended up looking like a lobster. Probably not the best look when we ended up in the background on Sky Hmm

Ohfourfoxache · 04/03/2015 10:30

Me too Eau Sad

I always thought he and DC made a really great team (despite the odd controversy!) and with RD at the helm I think they could have had many more years of success before succumbing to Ferrari/MS dominance.

Think the trouble nowadays with McLaren is that they tend to start off the season with a suboptimal car. Then by the time they have something half decent on track everyone else has had the benefit of a good number of races to improve their cars. McLaren always seem to be on the back foot Hmm

EauPea · 04/03/2015 10:33

Ooo can I play too?

Could you pm me the password for the Fantasy League please.

Another Maclaren fan here (although not an Alonso fan at all), really hoping JB might have a shot this year, but I think there will be too many teething problems with the Honda engine.

EauRouge · 04/03/2015 10:34

Yes, Hakkinen was the only driver at the time that could challenge Schumi. I was a big Schumi fan but it was boring watching him win all the time. Him and Mika had some really good wheel-to-wheel moments.

Hopefully now RD is more involved things will pick up. Is it Boullier's second season with them? Maybe he's settled in a bit more.

OP posts:
Ohfourfoxache · 04/03/2015 10:42

I'm home! Grin

Yes, they really did have some amazing moments, didn't they? Mind you, so did MS and DC (thinking of Spa in the pouring rain).

Afraid I'm not a MS fan at all - sorry! - but do admit that he was a terrifically good driver at the time. Completely agree that Hakkinen was the only one who could really challenge him - perhaps that's why he won so many titles on the trot?

EauPea glad you said that - I detest Alonso too!

EauRouge · 04/03/2015 10:50

Ha, that was more nose-to-nose than wheel-to-wheel Grin is one of my favourite F1 scraps though- hilarious.

OP posts:
BeeRayKay · 04/03/2015 19:23

I'll join the fantasy league...but I've no idea how it works?

I only have Sky+HD to be able to watch every race...is that lame?

PersonalClown · 04/03/2015 19:30

Someone shove up to make room for me!

My loyalties are divided. Hamilton just for local pride. I live about 10/15 miles away from his hometown so he is worshipped here.

But I can't help but just luff Riccardo.

EauRouge · 04/03/2015 19:30

Basically you get a set imaginary budget to spend on a couple of drivers and car bits (engine, aero etc). The good ones are expensive so you have to compromise somewhere. Then you spend the rest of the season wondering why you made such bad choices. Do you want me to PM you the password?
