Dd 10 has had a massive verruca under her big toe for over 3 years. GP said it would go of its own accord... it hasn't gone.
A few weeks ago she said it was hurting when she walked so I have decided to wage war on it.
So far we have tried soaking, filing and covering with a plaster, then soaking, filing and covering with duct tape for more than a fortnight but it made no difference.
Next weapon... Bazuka.
After 3 days, it look absolutely hideous....

Love a footner / cheap Ebay version I didn't find they did much for a verruca other than remove the manky looking skin.

SlideIn · 11/05/2021 23:29

Mildly concerned about this one. Was normal verruca appearance with black dots, I bazuka'd the shit out of it, grew in height, I clipped off the top which was all dead, gave a few more days with bazuka and duct tape for good measure, the edges all lifted away so I got in with the tweezers and pulled; long root came out. Bled a fair bit, dressed it and thought I was done. Now (10 days on) it looks like this. Edges of hole have come together like a bloody demagorgon head, three separate scabby flaps, and now there's more skin lifting though I haven't put anything else on it. The black is either sock fuzz or dried blood. I can't see any brown/black dots like the crushed capillaries in the original verruca.
Whaddaya think? Is it still alive & kicking? Or is it dead and I'm just not healing well? I've had tonsillitis, cellulitis and thrush in the last 2 months, and I have Raynauds if that has any bearing. Had bloods done at docs and not diabetic.

AmongUs · 12/05/2021 17:24

Yours does looked quite raised.
When we were concerned about DS verruca we were able to send a photo to the doc who then prescribed an antibiotic cream. After 7 days of that it settled down and we continued with the verruca treatment.

devuskums · 12/05/2021 21:23

@SlideIn that's a great photo! Have your tried soaking and filing so you can see what's underneath?
Dds verucca is massive again, we are back to nightly bazuka. I think we gave up too quickly, won't be making that mistake this time!!

Heh, I'm a jeweller so have a macro lens for my phone 😏 there's a ring of dead skin and the whole thing is raised but the 'flaps' on top bleed at the slightest provocation, let alone filing, and thus seem to be healthy tissue, but aren't knitting together. I can't see much in between them but it's very red & tender, though not hot. I showed this to a pharmacist today and she has said no more acid of any kind and to call the dr, which I will in the morning. 😐
Having had cellulitis recently (and really not wanting it again), I have some antibiotic cream so am packing it with that tonight before taping back up. Eep!

(Incidentally, not sure if it's zinc oxide tape, but the elastic tape used to tape up sore muscles stays on even sweaty feet 👍🏻)

DeathMetalMum · 27/05/2021 21:03

Joining. Dd 10 showed me this on her foot today. Have salactol and files/emery boards. She will not let me near it with the file so I'm instructing from afar Hmm not sure how effective it will be as she wouldn't really file very hard.

Just bumping. What does everyone do about swimming? We're going on holidayand dd is about to start some swimming lessons and I can't seem to find any plasters that stay on in water! Any ideas?

gingeristhenewblack43 · 05/06/2021 16:29

ExH has taken DD swimming today, he bought her some swimming socks. Do not buy swimming shoes, I bought those and she could hardly lift her legs up as they were so heavy!

devuskums · 05/06/2021 22:42

@DeathMetalMum I don't think you have to file hard, if the foot is soaked enough the skin just peels off! How is it now?

devuskums · 05/06/2021 22:45

@DeathMetalMum, on the British swimming page it says a waterproof plaster is sufficient and that they no longer encourage people to wear the socks...

@devuskums We were away on holiday by the beach for a few days an a huge chunk fell out, however it was mostly hard skin and just showed how big the root was. Dd will not let me touch it so I couldn't try and pull at it. I'll try and get a photo later.

I have tried waterproof plasters but they just fall off after 5 minutes in the water. I'm going to order a swimming sock as dd has a place at swimming lessons from next Sunday.

My child had verrucas for years. Bought silver spray from Amazon. Gone in a few days and never came back.

I'm repulsed and transfixed by this thread...

Thanks. I will remember this for next time!
ouchmyfeet · 16/06/2021 13:46

I took my DS to the GP for multiple verrucas that he'd had for about a year. She prescribed something called Verrugon, which I've since been able to buy over the counter. It's stronger than bazuka and is the only thing that worked. I had a verruca myself for over 5 years and it shifted that too. Am about to start using it on my other DS who has a huge wart on his elbow and lots of little ones springing up around it.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 24/06/2021 22:25

DD had mosaic verrucas over both feet and then grew a massive wart on a finger. We tried practically everything but when the wart came I remembered when my dad bought my sister’s wart from her. It really worked and my sister’s wart vanished over a period of about a week and my Dad grew a wart on his wrist!

So, I got DP to buy DD’s verrucas from her. Over a period of about 6 weeks her verrucas and wart slowly disappeared. DP meanwhile, had a small wart on his ankle which has now grown to a massive size. He doesn’t care and DD can finally swim without the rubber socks so we are all happy.

It is worth goggling this method. I have no idea how it worked but it HAS worked. I think there had to be some exchange of a copper coin to buy the warts.

TodayImostlyhaveaverucca · 10/08/2021 20:16

I do believe that I have finally got rid of my verucca after 5/6 years of knobbly footed misery.

I have photos if anyone wants. I’m not completely 100% convinced it’s away, there might still be a trace round the edge, but basically back to normal skin.

I am now of the thought that the duct tape helped a lot, but I had it on for several weeks, really a long time (not the same piece!)
I took a bit of thuja, but I’m not sure that made any difference. I have been building myself up, trying to get enough sleep & take my vitamins & genrally get a bit stronger, I really think I’ve been totally run down.

Abbie90 · 21/10/2022 04:09

@SlideIn any update on this? Were you able to get rid of it?

Abbie90 · 21/10/2022 04:10

Had a similar thing and wondering if you were able to get rid of it / what you used?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 22/10/2022 16:36

I'm going into almost 14 months verruca free having had x 5 under my right toe ...

A small piece of masking tape left on for 6 days (socks on to keep it on) then removed for the seventh. I used to wipe with tea tree oil on that day. Continue until gone. Took mine about 4 months if I recall but worth it and no faff.

This is how bad they were

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 22/10/2022 16:38

To clarify it was a bit fiddly as I did a larger piece for the main cluster then a couple of smaller bits for the little ones but after best part of a year of messing with various medicated items it was a breeze

Oblomov22 · 22/10/2022 19:03

Op I can't get over how quick your bazuka treatment has gone, so well, so quickly, by drawing the black bits out!
