Dd 10 has had a massive verruca under her big toe for over 3 years. GP said it would go of its own accord... it hasn't gone.
A few weeks ago she said it was hurting when she walked so I have decided to wage war on it.
So far we have tried soaking, filing and covering with a plaster, then soaking, filing and covering with duct tape for more than a fortnight but it made no difference.
Next weapon... Bazuka.
After 3 days, it look absolutely hideous....

@Idbemonica1

Todaymostlyihaveaverruca my daughter had a stubborn one 2 years plus. Gluterol got rid of it when all elsd had failed.
I forgot to take a pic last night, but have a previous. What’s gluterol? I’ve never heard of it in all my reading? I will look it up. I forgot I also tried acv, but that was unbelievably painful.
Berthatydfil · 03/04/2021 13:25

Glutarol and salactol are stronger than OTC remedies so you can only get from a pharmacy.

As previous poster has said Gluterol is available at pharmacys or easy to order online. It's so easy to use - you just paint it on daily, no filing needed, which was key for me as previous treatments had needed filing and my daughter found this painful. After 2 or 3 weeks the whole verucca just falls off.

MrsWP · 04/04/2021 13:00

I have to say o think for sporners the nail varnish technique is pretty crap....

Can't see if anything is happening. Doesn't feel any different.

May pick it off later and file/swap to ACV.

AmongUs · 04/04/2021 15:51

Looking good here in the verruca department finally.

I’ve been treating my son’s varruca for a couple of weeks now with bazuka and not really seeing any change. He won’t let me cut at it with a scalpel 🙄so I’m just filing it down each day and putting on another layer. Please someone tell me this is normal and I will get results soon.

Sew3stitch · 07/04/2021 20:00

I've been reading this thread with great interest! My DH has a stubborn verruca (possibly 2) and he's been applying bazuka which doesn't seem to have done much.

He's agreed to let me have a go so what would others recommend I try next?

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 08/04/2021 08:32

I did the freezing every night followed by a layer of the cream. It was such a stubborn one and that’s what shifted it in the end.

AmongUs · 08/04/2021 14:48

@MrsWP how is the ACV going? Hope it's working out well

devuskums · 10/04/2021 22:42

@Thedutchessofhastings we used bazuka and just put it on each night and picked it off the next night, only filing once a week. Pulling bits off seemed to get the deeper bits out I think.

@devuskums, maybe I’m filing too much then? The problem is that it’s the only way I can get the gel off as it’s rock solid and he won’t let me pick / cut at it. This is what it looked like last night. Really not sure if there is any progress.

AmongUs · 11/04/2021 16:58

For ds verruca, good progress means the number of brown spots visibly decrease over time and it doesn't bleed when filing. Will post pic later

AmongUs · 11/04/2021 19:23

Some brown marks where there were scabs remain. Just filled, no bleeding for once, yay! applied some tea tree oil too

whyhell0there · 12/04/2021 23:02

Interesting thread! My child has a verucca on his foot and I wanted to try duct tape + ACV since that worked for me but the tape I bought won't stick to his skin!

Can anyone recommend a brand of duct tape that sticks well to skin? I can't remember the brand I used for myself.

TodayImostlyhaveaverucca · 13/04/2021 06:51

I’ve used some other tape to stick round the edges & then a sock holds it in well enough mostly.

A week in and the big one has put forth yet another little sprout. I’m not fully convinced by this. Also my foot smells like rot after keeping the tape on as recommended, so it’s getting a change every day now,

I think I’m going to allow three weeks and if nothing has changed give it up as a bad job. To be fair, it’s pretty painless which is a bonus.
I’ve started googling dry needling to see if it’s something I can diy.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 16/04/2021 11:04

Today I find any tape method seems to result in a slight pong too ... I worry surrounding healthy skin is turning necrotic Confused but because of where mine are positioned I have to cut tape larger than I need for it to stay on.

I'm so fed up of mine ... the only upside to no beach/pool holiday this year is no worry about the verruca situation.

HandlebarLadyTash · 18/04/2021 10:16

zinc oxide tape holds well, just be careful with how much you use. It's very sticky and will pull of the dead skin when you remove it it also can adhere to the healthy skin around the edges of the verruca & pull that off too - ouch
When I was tired of battling my elderly verruca I used to cut a square of tape & leave it on until I remembered to remove it. Not pretty when time came to peel it off.

TodayImostlyhaveaverucca · 18/04/2021 10:22

I don’t think I can bring myself to do the dry needling, sounds too sore.

I re read the instructions for the gaffer tape & found I should be removing for 24 hours one day in 7. So I’ve done that, then trimmed & filed. I’m not sure. It looks more like a classic verucca than it did before. I’m not sure it’s changed much otherwise. Still pretty painless though, and low effort, so will persevere.

HandlebarLadyTash · 27/04/2021 18:40

At the worst at least its covered & stops you spreading it

devuskums · 27/04/2021 23:26

So annoyed. Got complacent, thought the dratted blighter was gone so left it alone for a fortnight. It's back. 😤

Took me years to get rid of mine

TodayImostlyhaveaverucca · 10/05/2021 21:53

What finally worked @HandlebarLadyTash?

I am still going with the gaffer tape since it is so easy. I don’t know if it’s working. I do think it’s changing. Am debating another footner soon, see if that helps.

HandlebarLadyTash · 10/05/2021 22:17

The last remedy I tried was Glutarol covered with zinc oxide tape.
Not sure if it was the treatment or if the verruca had just finally been found by my body immune system.
I spent many a week with just little squares of tape covering the verruca, constantly treating it was hard work & painful
