Dd 10 has had a massive verruca under her big toe for over 3 years. GP said it would go of its own accord... it hasn't gone.
A few weeks ago she said it was hurting when she walked so I have decided to wage war on it.
So far we have tried soaking, filing and covering with a plaster, then soaking, filing and covering with duct tape for more than a fortnight but it made no difference.
Next weapon... Bazuka.
After 3 days, it look absolutely hideous....

@YesIDoLoveCrisps
Looks hollow in the middle. It's disintegrating bit by bit.

Lurkingforawhile · 24/03/2021 22:30

This really is excellent an excellent sporner thread! Lego is a great idea (and ouchy)

ScrumptiousBears · 24/03/2021 22:49

I'm thinking of joining this. My DD has had one for months now and I have no idea what I'm doing. How do you know it's dead and buried?

AmongUs · 24/03/2021 23:34

Our one keeps bleeding when it's filed so that's how I know it's still alive plus it keeps producing and multiplying lots of individual brown dots. Tentacles I call them.

I believe you will know it's dead when it falls out and leaves a crater. New smooth skin is supposed to then grow in its place.

I think I could come up with a horror movie script based on the brown dots alone. As you can tell it's driven me round the twist trying to defeat it for months and not winning.

crapbuttrue · 24/03/2021 23:43

My DS let me get a scalpel blade on his every now and again. Very satisfying to pare away all the dead skin.....

devuskums · 24/03/2021 23:52

I must admit I am feeling sad, and like the verucca will never go. Dd told me she is still walking on the side of her foot because it hurts her. 😭

My ds had one age 6. Got the freezing stuff and zapped it a few times. Went in to tuck him in before I went to bed and it was staring at me, just hanging on... I picked it off while he slept on. Lovely.

AmongUs · 25/03/2021 23:08

Change of plan, have put Scholl pen on this evening.

I know I said tea tree oil worked for us but I am trying to remember if I did that as well as wrapping it to deprive of oxygen Confused

Jamboree01 · 26/03/2021 00:45

Two of my children have had verrucas. Massive, other worldly looking things. I never saw point in filing? I had no idea about verrucas, and still don’t really. Thankfully (touch wood) none since. I used bazuka daily. And they slept with plaster and socks on. The things got massive. I told myself that the lack of air was the reason that they came up so quickly, the bazuka lifted the circle of skin around both of their verrucas and then I just yanked them out (had plenty of gauze ready for the blood flow). That was it. A few of the little black things were there when the feet were healing up, all dead. Just cleared them out with tweezers and nothing since. That was 6 years ago. Im probably wrong but I just think filing prolongs the agony?

devuskums · 26/03/2021 09:01

Maybe I will neglect the filing then @Jamboree01...I do like picking off the massive skin discs but there are always more black dots underneath 😒

You must keep going as all it will take is one black speck to be left and it will grow back.

OliverBabish · 26/03/2021 09:23

I went hardcore with DDs (she was only 5 at the time Confused but she took it like a trooper) - soak in a hot bath every night, filed every single night, then covered it with dark varnish (having peeled off the previous night’s varnish). Bazuka only made it worse weirdly.

Cismyfatarse · 26/03/2021 18:44

What are the black dots? Roots?

Smrahc48 · 26/03/2021 18:45

I found my people!

My DD has just finished her own procedure. So satisfying to watch. We tried thuja, bazuca, tea tree oil, tape. In the end we left the tape on for 7 days and then she picked it for this result.

devuskums · 26/03/2021 18:51

@Cismyfatarse I think so yes. Will have a good look and take another pic in a bit

Ok, I’m joining in. Have been watching this thread for days as My DS (7) has a verruca on the ball of his foot. We are using Bazuka extra strength. He’s a bit of a wuss when it comes to letting me pick it but I did yank a bit out last night which horrified him as there was a fair bit of blood. My question is whether I should try covering with tape after applying the bazuka or just leave the white gel to the air?

Smrahc48 · 26/03/2021 19:01

I just hope the bloody thing doesn’t return

Yogabear1 · 26/03/2021 19:15

My dd had about 12 verrucas for at least 4 years, we thought we had tried everything with no luck then used the scholl pen, 4 days on 4 days off x 2 and the final one fell off within 3 weeks. Can’t actually believe anything actually worked

Artesia · 26/03/2021 19:19

A question for those using tape- how the heck do you get it to stick?? We bought proper industrial duct tape but it won’t stay on. Does my child just have unusually clammy feet or is there a trick I’m missing???
