Dd 10 has had a massive verruca under her big toe for over 3 years. GP said it would go of its own accord... it hasn't gone.
A few weeks ago she said it was hurting when she walked so I have decided to wage war on it.
So far we have tried soaking, filing and covering with a plaster, then soaking, filing and covering with duct tape for more than a fortnight but it made no difference.
Next weapon... Bazuka.
After 3 days, it look absolutely hideous....

Have a look at needling. It’s pricey but gets rid. Or a new treatment called Verrutop

AmongUs · 26/03/2021 20:13

@Smrahc48 excellent result!

We couldn't get duct tap or surgical tape or carnation verruca caps to stick so gave up on it.

We just use the scholl pen then leave to air dry

SirSamuelVimes · 26/03/2021 20:15

@Artesia

A question for those using tape- how the heck do you get it to stick?? We bought proper industrial duct tape but it won’t stay on. Does my child just have unusually clammy feet or is there a trick I’m missing???
I couldn't get tape to stick either. I do have sweaty feet. When I was trying cider vinegar I ended up cocooning my foot in duct tape. Basically have myself trench foot but the verucca was still there, the fucker.

Only thing that worked for me was Swift. But it's v pricey.

AmongUs · 26/03/2021 20:17

@ScrumptiousBears

I'm struggling to get a half decent photo but this is what one dealing with.
What treatment are you using? They are pesky little things aren't they Confused
Smrahc48 · 26/03/2021 20:21

We used zinc oxide tape.

When we did tape we taped the area and then used micropore right round the foot. Felt really bad the day they switched from outdoor cricket to gym in the hall and poor DS2 had silver gaffa tape all over his foot!

He ended up with about 20 two years ago and freezing got rid of them all in a week. But it really hurt as they died off. Also the chiropodist missed a couple. DS2 realised but the treatment hurt so he didn't tell her.

Of course those have regenerated a crop of another 20+

We must go back....

devuskums · 27/03/2021 22:31

@Thedutchessofhastings I think you are supposed to not cover it as the gel is apparently adequate cover. However since I caught my dd with her unsocked foot in my slippers this morning I am seriously considering the tape!

Thedutchessofhastings · 28/03/2021 13:30

@devuskums thank you - I was thinking more that it might work better if covered with tape??
I really don’t know if we are getting anywhere. It’s now got to the stage where the gel is so hard that even after soaking, I can’t get the last lot off to apply a new layer. I’m going to try a really long soak tonight and then try filing I think, unless anyone has any suggestions.

dancemom · 28/03/2021 13:43

@Cismyfatarse

What are the black dots? Roots?
@Cismyfatarse the dots are crushed blood vessels

@ScrumptiousBears that one is ripe for picking, I'd be at that with nail scissors given half a chance!
devuskums · 28/03/2021 14:44

It's got a dead skin hat on...

OP posts:
devuskums · 28/03/2021 14:47

So I cut off the hat...

Lol I want to say well fancy that...but there is still more verucca so 🤷
Dd let me have a pick but I stopped as soon as she said ow! Bath time soaking later, maybe a good file will help it on its merry way.

@dancemom My DD won't let me pick at it. She says it's really sore. I'm using Bazuka and it just seems to be sticking out further and further. She'll be starting back at gymnastics in a few weeks. I doubt I'll get rid of it by then but struggle to keep it covered.

AmongUs · 28/03/2021 17:31

Satisfying that some brown dots come away with the dead skin but then you look and see that there are still brown spots!
I'm looking forward to the next peeling round although ours seem to have developed more brown dots in the meant. The eviction continues....

Artesia · 28/03/2021 19:37

Oh my goodness- DS (4) has had a massive verruca for months. Was causing him loads of issues, he was walking oddly to avoid hurting it, which in turn was causing knee problems. I’d tried using Scholl pen but it just irritated it. Tried chiropodist, but no joy. In desperation I bought some Thuja tincture. Painted it on daily for 3 weeks. Didn’t cause any pain putting it on but the whole thing has dried up, and this evening it’s fallen out cleanly leaving a HUGE crater in his foot. We are both delighted!!!

devuskums · 28/03/2021 20:40

@Artesia fantastic!!

Artesia · 28/03/2021 20:58

Honestly, I was so sceptical, but can't recommend it enough!

Artesia · 28/03/2021 21:00

Plus, he's a mini sporner in the making- he came in proudly clutching the dead verruca and made us all examine it!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 28/03/2021 21:03

Can I ask, t(e nail varnish thing ... do I need to remove each night or just keep applying? So I need to pick it or will it fall off by itself?

I've tried everything and nothing works on mine (oldest is 5 years old). I've 4 on one foot just under my first two toes. It hurts to walk these days so I'm getting desperate Sad

Thislittlefinger123 · 28/03/2021 21:04

What was the tincture you used please @Artesia?

Artesia · 28/03/2021 21:09

It's called thuja. I got it at a health shop but think you can also buy online. You can also get it in tablets, but I wasn't sure of the dose for a young child.

AmongUs · 28/03/2021 21:56

What a fantastic result with the thuja, I am off to google it now!

Thislittlefinger123 · 29/03/2021 00:01

Thanks!
