Created for Zapp

Whether it’s loo roll for the hundredth time or the bottle of wine you were really excited for, we want to know the items you need, but always forget to buy at the supermarket.

  • Post your items in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw
  • One lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice
Here’s what Zapp has to say:

“Run out of nappies at 3 in the morning? Haven’t had time to go to the shops to pick up dinner? Or simply just need a glass of wine after a long day? Zapp is here to save the day.

Choose from over 2,000 curated items, delivered in 20 minutes or less, with no minimum order value and free delivery over £30. You look after the kids, let Zapp look after you.”

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Tonic water, avocados and rocket, frozen petit pois, the latter as it is virtually the only frozen thing I buy apart from the occasional magnums.

I quite often forget to collect my click and collect parcel at the end of my shop, even though I registered on arrival for it!

ELLAMAR00 · 21/02/2022 14:21

I always seem to run out of toothpaste I am pretty sure my children are eating it.

kungfupidge · 21/02/2022 15:02

Milk which is usually the thing that i went into the shop for in the first place 😁

Oddbutnotodd · 21/02/2022 17:17

Firelighters, cling film and bread. Usually the one thing I absolutely need

MoiraNotRuby · 21/02/2022 18:04

I thought of this thread this morning in the supermarket... forgot my shopping list...

Plantpot75 · 21/02/2022 18:54

Bin bags 💼

TheDeckchairGardener · 21/02/2022 18:56

I can’t really think of anything frequently forgotten, it’s more likely to be that something needed was out of stock (Aldi have been out of stock of black peppercorns on the last 2 visits). We normally try and make do without whatever it is or if really desperate I might pick it up on the days I work (working in a town centre helps).

Cupboard essentials. Every single time. Eg. things like mustard powder, black treacle, tobasco sauce, that sort of thing. Essential when cooking from scratch.
My thought process goes I must replace that, and promptly completely forget then, for example, go to glaze the ham on Christmas Eve to find no mustard or treacle and then have to improvise a poor substitute.

evtheria · 21/02/2022 23:01

Usually the second-most important thing I’ve gone out for. Not so important I’ve drilled it into my head, but still something I’ll have to go back and get!
Butter, sliced bread, toothpaste... that sort of useful item Grin

Appzy · 21/02/2022 23:05

Dishwasher tabs (because I usually don't do the dishwasher loading) and cheese.
No idea why but I always forget cheese even though we eat it constantly!

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/02/2022 00:16

I went to the shop THREE TIMES for milk one day. Bought stuff every time I went.

Still ended up drinking black tea........

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/02/2022 00:17

Oh yeah...... cling film and foil....we have been without foil for about 2 weeks now despite me having gone "big" shopping twice since we ran out Hmm

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/02/2022 00:19

Oh and to add the sheer stupidity of my pp's ....

I WORK IN A FUCKING SUPERMARKET

MyBottomDecides · 22/02/2022 01:28

Since using the Alexa shopping app our hit rate is much better barring the odd phonetic mishap (strawberry ham anyone?). The rule is that if you start on the last packet /tin/bottle/carton of something you shout it at Alexa as you're opening it and another one gers bought and goes in the cupboard before you run out. Obv some of us are better at this than others... Hmm

So it's the stuff the kids or DH use up and don't add to the list: ketchup, cider, peanut butter, pickled onions and crisps.

But I never, ever remember to reclaim my parking at the tills and always drive home swearing at the ticket stub on the dashboard

PearTree123 · 22/02/2022 07:04

Toothpaste and batteries!

Coolcat111 · 22/02/2022 10:25

I always seem to forget gravy I'll buy dinner ingredients and concentrate so much on that I forget what brings it all together!

BurningBenches · 22/02/2022 12:18

Bin bags, dog poo bags..

Vixibell · 22/02/2022 19:02

We are at the moment having to use the left over Christmas napkins as yet again I have come home without any.

cathisherwood · 22/02/2022 19:21

I forget toothpaste and shampoo

Ritashome · 22/02/2022 20:04

Tomato sauce and Salad Cream.
I just walk by and forget I need both.

sunshinesky · 22/02/2022 20:17

This sounds like a brilliant service!
Always bin bags, food caddy liners and light bulbs for me!

Leinlondon · 22/02/2022 20:26

Cling film
Kitchen foil
