This activity is now closed

A sturdy backpack that can take pretty much anything you throw in it and also looks stylish, is often a must-have for both parents and children alike. HYPE would love you or your DC to take a look at their website not only choose your favourite backpack but also share what your backpack essentials are.

Here’s what HYPE have to say: “You’ll make heads turn and jealousy begin with a HYPE bag in hand. Our backpacks are perfect for those days when you’ve got the world to carry on your back, literally, for every moment. Whether you're packing your go-to flight essentials or your DC is heading to their mates for a sleepover, our backpacks are here for every occasion! Our most-sought-after Black with white speckle is for those who like things a little subtler. Sizing at 41 x 31cm our backpacks are the perfect size to keep all of your essentials in one safe place. Want something a bit louder? Choose from our current best-seller, the all over mature floral print or the classic holographic.”

Take a look at the HYPE website here and select yours or your DCs favourite backpack and post it on the thread (ideally with a link for everyone interested in your favourite).

We would also love to know what yours or your DCs backpack essentials are. Do you have to have a backpack with as many pockets as possible to fit all your little bit and bobs in? Perhaps your DC is all about how the bag looks and which backpack will make them stand out the most? Or maybe you have to have a backpack that is spacious enough to fit every single thing you own in it?

Tell us yours or your DC’s backpack essentials, as well as your favourite HYPE backpack from their website and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list). Plus HYPE will also be giving 4 MNers their favourite backpack that they selected from the site!

Thanks and good luck!

my daughter would love this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-pink-holographic-backpack-28dc1f

the hype pink holographic backpack - mainly because of how amazing it looks with the pink shimmeriness of it.

My essentials are 1 decent sized pocket, 1 smaller pocket and a few other small pockets for things like keys. A water bottle pocket is also great.

My daughter definitely goes by how they look but i always try to look for how practical the bag is.

Jaderice21 · 16/03/2018 16:00

HYPE BLACK SCRIBBLE BACKPACK is fab its great for either sex so an ideal hand me down if neededand will last longer as wont get stained :D looks nice too and ill match all outfits and coats quite trendy too

Carriecakes80 · 16/03/2018 16:02

Has to beeeee......THIS bad boy! www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-pink-holographic-backpack-28dc1f

I want one!!! My daughters loved it too, while my boys would go for the space-y Galaxy themed one.

Backpack essentials are babywipes, bottle of water (so ideally needs a drinks pocket on the side!) reflector strips and a good amount of pockets for treasures. We love the colours and designs, though these cost a little more than I can normally spend on backpacks, as I have four kids to buy for! But if I had the dough, I would go for these.

Dd voted this one. She actually needs a new one for school as the last one is ripped....
Top of my essential list is durability particularly around zips, shower proof is great too. An inside zipped pocket near the top of the back pack so that you can access your wallet/phone easily, but it's secure. Squidgy straps (school stuff is heavy). The DC care about looks and cool factor....

ButterflyOfFreedom · 16/03/2018 16:57

I like this one:
www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-astro-mesh-backpack

Essentials:
Purse
Keys
Phone
Bus pass
Umbrella
Pen
Tissues
Compact mirror
Concealer
Lip balm
Handcream

Nyancat · 16/03/2018 17:55

I have a bit of a backpack habit, never owned a hype one though. I cycle to work or take the bus. For cycling I like one big enough to take a change of clothes, comfy straps, maybe something reflective, waterproof, easy access pocket or pouch for keeping kit for punctures my phone. And a port for headphones for when I'm off roads.

For work I have a few different ones but my favourite have an access point for headphones, storage for travel card and somewhere to attach keys and a zip closure on the side against your back so that any valuables are harder for someone to get at.

This one gets my vote, but I suspect it wouldn't be long til I lost it to DD.

dontticklethetoad · 16/03/2018 18:43

I absolutely love this one! www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/hype-teal-velvet-backpack

My backpack generally contains wipes, tissues, spare underwear (for the kids!) snacks, USB charger, colouring books/pens and crumbs.

I do like to have an inside pocket to keep valuables secure and an outside pocket for easy access to wipes and tissues.

I really like this quirky Skeggy design

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-skeggy-backpack

My ideal backpack would have plenty of pockets, good padded straps and be waterproof but light.

RippleEffects · 16/03/2018 20:10

My favourite is the polka dot reversible backpack

I tend to theme my pared down wardrobe around navy and this backpack has the neutral everyday navy look for rainy UK but once in sunnier climbs the white/ polka dot reverse would be great for holiday trips out.

8mileeminem · 16/03/2018 20:30

Me and my daughter like this one best :www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-urban-spray-backpack although she would be happy with any of them. We have purchased 4 HYPE backpacks so far, they are great for school/sleepovers/trips etc. A few multiple pockets and strong comfy straps are a must. We have just purchased some Hype clothing to try aswell, brilliant quality.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2018 20:46

This is exactly what I've been looking for - plain black, looks a decent size, would go with everything and perfect for city breaks.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2018 20:47

Essentials =
Kindle
Avene water spray
Mints
Mac lipstick in Velvet Teddy
Salt sachets for low blood pressure!

aristocat · 16/03/2018 20:58

What a choice!

A backpack needs to be able to carry A4 folder, lunch, water bottle, few school books, pens etc.

Plenty of zips/pockets are essential and adjustable straps please.

Her current bag is falling apart at the seams literallyGrin and I've repaired it twice already. It's a well known sports brand which I won't be getting again!

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-burgundy-traveller-backpack

We have to cart around crayons, colouring books, stickers, several soft toys, nappies, snacks, wipes and clothes. I love the traveller bags, really practical and useful for day to day and holidays.

www.justhype.co.uk/hype-speckle-backpack-e699e0
I really love these back packs, I like the size of them and the extra pockets are always essential! For me, being easy to get things in and out is really important with some extra pockets where I can keep purse, phone, keys etc separate from the rest of my junk that goes on days out!

ChippyMinton · 16/03/2018 21:18

This red metallic one is gorgeous. It would bring a smile to my face and, bonus, match my car :)

I like plenty of pockets, and for it to be comfortable.

What’s in my everyday work bag?
iPad, notebook and pen, homemade soup for lunch, coffee mug, water bottle, beret, gloves, tissues, keys, cards, purse, phone, lip salve, work pass, hairbrush, umbrella.

Wolfcub · 16/03/2018 21:22

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/hype-burgundy-core-backpack-box

My son would really like the burgundy core backpack box.

My backpack essentials are good internal pockets to divide and organise things and mesh external side pockets for an insulated coffee mug and my train pass.

longtompot · 16/03/2018 21:33

I quite like this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-navy-ocean-fade-backpack

Tarrarra · 16/03/2018 21:37

Love the silver holographic one. Ds has a hype. Backpack and loves it.. I just wish it had a secure pocket inside and a key chain

Imgettingcheesefries · 16/03/2018 23:23

My 12 year old dd loves Hype bags, she uses one for school and says they're the popular ones to have. She likes this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-purple-with-white-speckle-backpack and says she likes to have pockets with zips inside and out so she can find things quickly. And also a bag needs to be big enough to fit all her stuff in. I think it's important for a school bag to be tough enough to be thrown around etc

Treaclespongeandcustard · 16/03/2018 23:38

I love thieves this bag for me and not DC www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-primary-backpack-b120b7
I would love to win it. My backpack essentials are: a fold up bag, tissues, hand cream, hand gel, lip balm, spare child clothes and baby wipes.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/03/2018 00:11

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-cosmo-backpack

This is a gorgeous print. I use a backpack for work so there has to be a space for my laptop, a front pocket for my work pass, keys, medication and pens, and ideally it has to be washable without the print or colour fading, because travelling 100 miles a day each way by public transport leaves my bag grubby and in need of a wash from time to time.

ElizaDontlittle · 17/03/2018 02:26

I like this one: www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/speckle-backpacks/hype-speckle-backpack-fa6afd
They are really nice looking bags.
I'm a daily backpack user - super practical one for work and small leather one for home. I walk with sticks and it keeps my hands free plus I have a medical condition requiring kit to be carried with me and I've never found a shoulder/cross body bag big enough. I like enough pockets to keep things like keys separate and easy to find - a front one plus another small one somewhere and I need a side pocket on the side of the bag to hold my second stick when not in use. These don't seem to have that, disappointingly. I have found that hardwearing is worth paying for, it's a false economy otherwise.

Also I'd be annoyed that the size isn't on the website (I know it's in the OP) and that would put me off if I was online shopping.

puglife · 17/03/2018 06:30

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/speckle-backpacks/hype-platinum-with-silver-speckle-backpack

I love this one!

Essentials are : a bag that can be used by me or my DH
Pockets to keep my phone/purse safe
Large space for nappies, wipes, snacks, toys etc!
Double straps to make carrying a bag and a child much easier!

duckling84 · 17/03/2018 07:19

I was just looking at the hype website last night then come on and see this this morning!
this was the bag I was considering purchasing. Plain, simple, timeless. And matches every outfit I own Wink

My dcs backpack essentials? Well the 14year old would be phone, purse. Keys, book, lipgloss and a bottle of lucozade
9 yr old would be wallet, juice bottle, a small pot of Lego minifigures and his Lego encyclopaedia book
6yr old would insist on his stormtrooper teddy and mini hatchimals
2yr old would need nappies, wipes, snacks, change of clothes, juice, crayons, colouring book, toys...... etc. The smallest person always has the most stuff!
