This activity is now closed

A sturdy backpack that can take pretty much anything you throw in it and also looks stylish, is often a must-have for both parents and children alike. HYPE would love you or your DC to take a look at their website not only choose your favourite backpack but also share what your backpack essentials are.

Here’s what HYPE have to say: “You’ll make heads turn and jealousy begin with a HYPE bag in hand. Our backpacks are perfect for those days when you’ve got the world to carry on your back, literally, for every moment. Whether you're packing your go-to flight essentials or your DC is heading to their mates for a sleepover, our backpacks are here for every occasion! Our most-sought-after Black with white speckle is for those who like things a little subtler. Sizing at 41 x 31cm our backpacks are the perfect size to keep all of your essentials in one safe place. Want something a bit louder? Choose from our current best-seller, the all over mature floral print or the classic holographic.”

Take a look at the HYPE website here and select yours or your DCs favourite backpack and post it on the thread (ideally with a link for everyone interested in your favourite).

We would also love to know what yours or your DCs backpack essentials are. Do you have to have a backpack with as many pockets as possible to fit all your little bit and bobs in? Perhaps your DC is all about how the bag looks and which backpack will make them stand out the most? Or maybe you have to have a backpack that is spacious enough to fit every single thing you own in it?

Tell us yours or your DC’s backpack essentials, as well as your favourite HYPE backpack from their website and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list). Plus HYPE will also be giving 4 MNers their favourite backpack that they selected from the site!

Thanks and good luck!

Love the vintage rose one for me! I like lots of pockets - need to make sure I have dog poo bags with me at all times! Plus hand sanitising gel, a bottle of water, cereal bar for snack emergencies, and paracetamol for headache emergencies!

This was the one my DD chose as her favourite: www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-pink-holographic-backpack-28dc1f

We both agree that you need a bottle of water, snacks, a purse and toys in a bag so lots of pockets in a bag helps organise the essentials. It also means I can find my phone when I need it.

My ds would love the Hype Black Acid Space Backpack. It's awesome!
My backpack essentials are: cold sore cream, nail clippers, tweezers, pack of tissues, babywipes and a microfibre travel towel - just in case anyone is travel sick, but useful for all sorts of things.

My favourite is the Vintage Rose, DD's is the pink velour.

What I look for in a backpack - comfort, style, loads of pockets, waterproof interior and exterior. A facility on the outside to carry a water bottle. Not too tall. Lightweight. Easy to unzip. Easy to wear over one shoulder. Machine washable.

I like this one - www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-black-camo-backpack - the black camo one. It's funky and interesting but will still go with everything.

I'm a big backpack user because I like to keep my hands free when I'm out and about.

My essentials are my purse, umbrella, body spray and a good book to read. I need a backpack to be strong, sturdy and water-resistant to cope with the wild Welsh weather!

I'd pick this one for DD as it looks like it may fit an A4 folder - definitely a rucksack essential for her. She is fastidious about organising her falling apart smiggle rucksack though and I wonder if there are pockets in the Hype bags or just one space. There aren't any internal pics or dimensions on the website that I can see. However, there are so many beautiful designs to choose from. I'd choose one of the duffle bags for myself as I never seem to have a bag to fit my yoga mat in, or to use as an overnight bag.

water or juice

My choice would be the light blue one
www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-blue-gridwork-backpack

These look nice, but how can I find out the size? Do they fit an A4 pad in, for example?

My ideal backpack would be sturdy with strong zips and pockets; with an internal pocket for phone and another one for keys; comfortable on the back (so padded) with easily adjustable straps; and of course in an extremely on-trend colour and pattern!

DS would probably choose the khaki one, and DD the shiny silver one. They would both like fun things like a secret compartment, and a twirly cord for attaching keys. A name label section would be a good idea too.

This is my favourite.
Essentials for me and my children are loads of pockets and somewhere to clip a key/keychain. A external pocket for a juice bottle is also something I look for.

This is my favourite, being a bit of a girly unicorn space cadet type! It was a little hard to choose though, there were lots that I liked!

My son had a plain purple hype backpack for school last year. It lasted perfectly with...well, not the most gentle treatment! He liked the label not being too obnoxious, but also recognisable.

I use a backpack for daytrips and overnight sleepovers so it needs to be comfortable to wear, spacious without being bulky, and well made so it doesn't rip under the strain of my various knick knacks!

DS and I love the astronaut vibe to this one: www.justhype.co.uk/hype-navy-space-patch-backpack

I like a separate "valuables" internal pocket as it helps keep things sand free when we're on the beach! And I always have a mini sanitising hand gel in my backpack as the kids always manage to find something disgusting to pick up!

The boy and I both like this black one. Anything else would just get minty.

Backpack essentials: It doesn't rip, the straps stay where they've been adjusted to, it doesn't like identical to everyone else's so it can't be 'accidentally' taken.

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-black-with-white-and-reflective-speckle-backpack is my DS favourite he loved the 'astronomical' theme. I love the fact that it is reflective too so would be picked out in the dark.

I like the Blue Estate Camo best.

My essentials are that the backpack easily fits in an A4 file, with room for other assorted stuff. Separate pocket for purse, phone and keys. Would prefer a net, or holder, at the side to transport a hot drink and keep it upright.

Essentials are: big enough for a4 folder, comfy straps, front pocket and look cool.

my Ds likes this one.
Backpack essentials have to be
good and easily adjustable straps that dont come undone.
Good sized openings so its easy to see inside
Plenty of pockets especially inside zipped pockets.

I like lots of pockets for all the clutter, and different compartments.

I like this one, especially the idea of reflective speckles.

It’s mainly about the main compartment for me, I like it big enough to comfortable fit an A4 folder as well as other bits and pieces, without trying to ram the corners in. I’m not so keen on lots of outside pockets, but a handy inside pocket at the top is really useful for little and important things, so you can keep them safer and not have to root around in the bag to find them.

My kids love hype.
My eldest daughter has been begging for one of their cropped hoody tracksuits for ages.
My son loves the space one. He wants this one now for when he starts middle school in September.
I love the flower one. It's really pretty

DD likes urban spray best.

She wants a backpack to be spacious but easy to take around and put on the back of a chair. Pockets for a water bottle, a small zip pocket inside and a small pouch on the front for her inhaler.

I like the baby blue boxy one, would be great for travelling as you can carry it on your back when wheeling your case, getting passports etc out. Then use it as a carry on once you have checked in.

This one but not sure practical in the rain!

Essentials, sturdy pockets and zips. A couple of extra front pockets ideally.

My daughter would love this. My backpack essentials are needing enough space to take all the stuff that we carry around for the children. We are still in the phase of needing to carry spare clothes and associated junk when we go out

This is my eldest's favourite.

Bag has to be "in" at school. Currently it is a smiggle back pack. Essentials for the 10 year old are: pencil case, lipsyl, an abundance of key rings, a recorder and a purse
