This activity is now closed

A sturdy backpack that can take pretty much anything you throw in it and also looks stylish, is often a must-have for both parents and children alike. HYPE would love you or your DC to take a look at their website not only choose your favourite backpack but also share what your backpack essentials are.

Here’s what HYPE have to say: “You’ll make heads turn and jealousy begin with a HYPE bag in hand. Our backpacks are perfect for those days when you’ve got the world to carry on your back, literally, for every moment. Whether you're packing your go-to flight essentials or your DC is heading to their mates for a sleepover, our backpacks are here for every occasion! Our most-sought-after Black with white speckle is for those who like things a little subtler. Sizing at 41 x 31cm our backpacks are the perfect size to keep all of your essentials in one safe place. Want something a bit louder? Choose from our current best-seller, the all over mature floral print or the classic holographic.”

Take a look at the HYPE website here and select yours or your DCs favourite backpack and post it on the thread (ideally with a link for everyone interested in your favourite).

We would also love to know what yours or your DCs backpack essentials are. Do you have to have a backpack with as many pockets as possible to fit all your little bit and bobs in? Perhaps your DC is all about how the bag looks and which backpack will make them stand out the most? Or maybe you have to have a backpack that is spacious enough to fit every single thing you own in it?

Tell us yours or your DC’s backpack essentials, as well as your favourite HYPE backpack from their website and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list). Plus HYPE will also be giving 4 MNers their favourite backpack that they selected from the site!

Thanks and good luck!

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-navy-ocean-fade-backpack

The Hype Navy Ocean Fade is the backpack of choice for my 12 yr old DD and it just so happens it’s the same one I chose... good taste DD, I must say. For my DD her main essential from a backpack is the space; ability to carry her laptop. She has dyslexia and uses her laptop in most lessons. The pocket on the front is great to keep her travel pass and house key, so she isn’t rummaging around and has things to hand. 2 other key essentials that this great backpack gives, are quality/comfortable strapes (those books and laptop are heavy!) and it is waterproof- no more soggy books from a sometimes lengthy wait in the rain. Altogether, a great item for my DD.

my DD has picked www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-pink-holographic-backpack-28dc1f. Pink and Holographic. She thinks it is a statement piece for her days out with school friends. In it, headphones, back up phone power source. Bottle of mineral water, a lip balm, some money a cashpoint card. A lip tint and eyebrow pencil, a mirror and a small brush, a scrunchy for her hair and a pack of gum or mints, a body spray and a pack of tissues. Her travel card and a pen. she goes prepared for sure.

This is my DD’s favourite backpack from Hype, she is preferring darker colours as she is almost 15. She also has lots of school books to carry as well as lunchbox, water bottle and pencil case.

My daughters really like this one. They say it's different to what their friends at school have. They're on a permanent quest to be different - but at the same time, they want the same brands, so this 'different' rucksack by a brand they love is perfect in their eyes!

As a mum, I think all the pockets are most practical!

Love the Hype Navy Reversible Backpack:
www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-navy-reversible-backpack

I LOVE that you can get two looks from one bag, I particularly like the polka dot side, but I wouldn't wear that with everything so the plain navy side is brilliant too!

My backpack essentials are:

  • Not too many compartments, I'm too lazy/unorganised to use them and will forget where things are!
  • Spacious main compartment
  • An easily accessible small compartment (zip pocket on front ideal) to stash things that I need to find quickly, like car/house keys and a dummy!
  • Comfortable, adjustable straps
  • Stylish. I want something that is functional but also looks good!

Torn between the navy space patch one and the khaki military one. Essentials being a pocket for my power bank, padded shoulder straps because bra straps being made to dig in is miserable, good stitching so it doesn't try to fall apart when I load it and a sturdy zip

My son would love this one
www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-urban-spray-backpack?source=webgains&siteid=54264

Is essential for us that a backpack can handle a4 school stuff and I see having a separate compartment for food and water bottles.

The Hype website was down - MySQL error when I started my search. Gutted because I love nothing more than looking for backpacks, so I took to Google while it was coming back online again. I found a lovely Yellow Mala Speckle that isn’t on the website anymore - which is a shame because it’s lovely and summery and I like a bag that stands out (so I can find it back at busy playgroups / the kids can find easily if they are looking for me). The embossed script burgundy is my next favourite - I’d happily take that to work with everything I’d need in and don’t think it looks too childlike (I often feel I look like a 15 year old going to school when I carry a rucksack but they’re so comfy and practical!)

That being said, a better product description would be handy - it says check the care label for material breakdown and I can’t quite work out if the bag will look plastic-y IRL and I like long straps so again it would be handy to know sizes both for me and the kids so I know what will be suitable for who. Perhaps a model and an image of the care label would work if it’s too time consuming to add all the detail to the website?

The website doesn’t seem to be working - maybe we broke it! But my favourite backpack on site is this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-navy-space-patch-backpack - because I’m a big Spider-Man fan and it looks similar to the kind of backpack Peter Parker would use. I hope that’s not too much of a nerdy answer Blush

My backpack essentials are:

  • must be robust - my current backpack is frayed and breaking in some areas despite only being six months old.
  • mustn’t be too bulky (if possible!) - I’m very short and carrying bulky backpacks is difficult. Sometimes they make me topple over Blush
  • bigger pockets on the inside for my phone - preferably that snap shut.
  • a headphone cable hole

I think this is my favourite www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-rip-stop-quad-pocket-backpack-da845d
We have just stopped using a traditional changing bag in favour of a more hands free back pack but DH doesn't stop moaning about the fact there are not enough pockets or separate areas in my very basic backpack so he would LOVE the extra pockets in this one!
My essentials right now are: change of clothes for the toddler, nappies, wipes, stickers, felt tips and note pad, drink, bib, purse and SNACKS!!

I like the black mesh backpack sports at &25.99. It’s not crazy expensive or flashy but still has a recognisable logo which I’m told is important to the kids. The only important things for us are that they’re big enough to take all school kit each day including lunch/gym gear and books/water bottle without needing an additional bag. And preferably one which will last at least a school year without zips breaking/holes developing.

I’m loving the Silver Holographic Backpack. Well actually I am slightly torn between the silver and the pink one. But I am thinking the silver will match more than the pink one will. If I won this backpack I would take it everywhere with me. I don’t usually do backpacks as they are not usually feminine enough for me but these are great. It would be great to carry around My makeup, Phone, Purse, My Mahoosive bunch of keys (Sorry I have lots of Keyrings) and what ever else I can manage to fit into it. It looks big enough for my use.
The silver one you will find here www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-silver-holographic-backpack
And this is the pink one. www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-pink-holographic-backpack-28dc1f.

I've been lugging a changing backpack around for the last 3 years but now I'm escaping the nappy years, I'm looking forward to downsizing! My essentials in a backpack are comfy straps, plenty of pockets and an easily-cleaned fabric.

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-khaki-military-backpack was the choice of my DS. His backpack essentials are his notepad and pen for taking down bus registration numbers, bottle of water, woolley hat and gloves and a couple of oatcakes. He loved the khaki colour and would love a lunchbox in the same colour, and with all the pockets, he can put his essentials in an orderly manner, easy to find, organise.

I realise I’m not really your market (nearly 50) but i’m not keen on all the labels, tassels etc. I like this one www.justhype.co.uk/hype-navy-traveller-backpack-92e42f?___store=store_hype_uk&nosto=nosto-page-product1

Also like this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-black-tape-backpack-wrap

My main requirement is for something sturdy and robust. The kids are fussier about brands. Especially the 16 year old but ‘acceptable’ brands change all the time
