This activity is now closed

A sturdy backpack that can take pretty much anything you throw in it and also looks stylish, is often a must-have for both parents and children alike. HYPE would love you or your DC to take a look at their website not only choose your favourite backpack but also share what your backpack essentials are.

Here’s what HYPE have to say: “You’ll make heads turn and jealousy begin with a HYPE bag in hand. Our backpacks are perfect for those days when you’ve got the world to carry on your back, literally, for every moment. Whether you're packing your go-to flight essentials or your DC is heading to their mates for a sleepover, our backpacks are here for every occasion! Our most-sought-after Black with white speckle is for those who like things a little subtler. Sizing at 41 x 31cm our backpacks are the perfect size to keep all of your essentials in one safe place. Want something a bit louder? Choose from our current best-seller, the all over mature floral print or the classic holographic.”

Take a look at the HYPE website here and select yours or your DCs favourite backpack and post it on the thread (ideally with a link for everyone interested in your favourite).

We would also love to know what yours or your DCs backpack essentials are. Do you have to have a backpack with as many pockets as possible to fit all your little bit and bobs in? Perhaps your DC is all about how the bag looks and which backpack will make them stand out the most? Or maybe you have to have a backpack that is spacious enough to fit every single thing you own in it?

Tell us yours or your DC’s backpack essentials, as well as your favourite HYPE backpack from their website and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list). Plus HYPE will also be giving 4 MNers their favourite backpack that they selected from the site!

Thanks and good luck!

The 'sand marble' one for me! And if were to be honest, I'd want a backpack with drawers! Pockets are ok, but they are always hard to get into when I've overfilled my bag.
Also, if it could sort of unzip, and open out like a flower so I could put it on a table and access all my bits of crap without doing the reach/shake/feel for those tiny items.

Not much to ask!

Rostom · 22/03/2018 16:56

The silver holographic bag looks fab. There is a largish zipped pocket on the back for those 'must have it now!' moments and the colour and finish means I won't leave it behind and walk away (as I have done with other bags!).

My favourite is this one, love the pop of pink!

We like our backpacks to have one desperate outside front pocket and then one or too on the inside, just enough so headphones, keys etc don't get lost in the bottom of the main pocket! We also like a nice big size to stuff as much in as possible!

Sixgeese · 22/03/2018 17:57

I like the broadband for me, I am not sure about the DC, the girls have to have small bags for their school and DS has so much to carry I am not sure it would all fit. He likes the embossed ones though.

Butterfly1975 · 22/03/2018 18:33

This one for my daughter www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-luna-backpack

She'd absolutely love it for starting secondary school later this year!! It'll be a joy to finally ditch the primary school book bags as a backpack is so much more practical and easy to carry.

I love this backpack, perfect for travelling and manly enough for my husband to carry so I don't have to!

Tavimama · 22/03/2018 18:48

I love the silver holographic backpack - I love my backpack at the moment and it holds my day-to-day world! Currently has my purse, keys, mobile, Kindle, notebook, pencil case, comb, clean pants (just in case!), small pack of wet wipes, compact mirror, packet of dolly mixtures, lip gloss, spare carrier bag and a wee container for my daily meds. I also keep my travel cup in there to feed my caffeine habit when out and about.

FartAtTheMaddingCrowd · 22/03/2018 20:30

I use a backpack for work as I have a bad back, so it needs to be able to carry A4 notebooks, wallet file etc. I'd like well padded, comfortable but robust straps which don't slacken by themselves. Also lots of pockets, inside and out and I like a side pocket for phone/ pens etc.

I like all the plain ones but I think this my favourite

This one. We like plain bags without big logos, so this was as close as we could find.

Has to be big enough to hold A4 folders and laptop, comfy straps, lightweight, waterproof, washable, separate pockets for a pencil case and lunch. Strap for keys. Somewhere for over ear headphones so they don't get buried, somewhere for a smaller notebook and reading book, pe kit, durable long lasting material,

I know this wasn't asked, but when I purchase bags online I want to know more details. I don't want to be told to refer to the label for product care, I need to know before purchase. If the bag has sections within the main compartment I want to know in the description and to see images of the bag open. I want to know sizes, one size isn't an adequate description. I want to know how bulky it is from a side view. Based on the total lack of info I wouldn't buy from the site, I would take my cash elsewhere.

Loving this backpack and dark colour scheme design, my daughter loves Hype clothing so this would be a fab match...although I love it too! She's a stationery fan so plenty of room for her Smiggle bits and bobs, pencil case/pens/etc. And she's a tomboy so might be packing a mini football for the playground. Fingers crossed x

simiisme · 22/03/2018 21:07

This is my favourite www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-patchworx-backpack
I love the patchwork effect and it would match so many of the dresses that I own.
I love the padded back and straps which would make it comfortable to wear.
I'd use the main pocket for all my books and folders and the smaller front pocket is where I'd keep my pencil case, perfume, toiletries and first aid kit.
Lovely :)

Flapdoodles · 22/03/2018 21:31

I have not seen these before but his is DDs favourite

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-camo-peached-backpack-rolltop

She is not bothered about pockets, she said she likes everything in the bag so it is "easier to find". Also DD said she finds the zip fiddly and loves the idea of this roll top - she has never seen anything like this before. She loves the pink but also likes the caouflage.

mummymummums · 22/03/2018 21:46

I love the burgundy speckle worn, for me. My DD 11 has a spotty one that she's recently elevated to school bag role, replacing her Smiggle one. Growing up!
A must for me is a bottle pouch on the side as I always take water everywhere. Ideally both sides as I often carry water for the DC too. I like a small inner zip pouch too, for phone.

Pumpkintopf · 22/03/2018 22:10

Ds has this one and loves it www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/speckle-backpacks/hype-speckle-backpack

More to the point it seems well made and has lasted very well!

Anj123 · 22/03/2018 22:39

My favourite is www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/hype-silver-reflective-backpack-traveller

I walk to work and back, 3 miles each way, and need a good size backpack like this to hold everything I need for the day. I always pack my diary, shoes so I can change out of my trainers, my lunch, fruit and water bottle. Other essentials include tissues, carrier bags, umbrella, phone, keys and pens.

I like this backpack because it’s reflective so will be especially useful in winter when it’s dark much of the time and it looks stylish. I think this will also be useful when travelling on holiday. I don’t think I’ve seen so many different backpacks on one website!

ailsasheldon · 23/03/2018 05:30

I like this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-grey-taping-backpack-rolltop. If my daughter had it, it would Be filled with too many text books and a lot of stolen food out of the treats cupboard ! I would use it for my medical kit for on call

Definitely the metallic emoji bag for my girl, she has already admired it

user1483387154 · 23/03/2018 05:51

Hype x turtle or hype x military for us.
I love the small pockets on the military perfect for baby items such as dummy small toys finger size snacks etc that can all be kept in separate places rather than having to fumble around the bottom of a big bag

libra101 · 23/03/2018 06:55

As the Hype bag would be used by myself, I would prefer a plain design rather than bright and colourful.

There are some great designs on the Hype website, and this blue bag fits the bill perfectly.

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/backpacks/plain-backpacks/hype-badge-backpack-0728d9

I enjoy walking, and my ideal backpack would be roomy enough to hold a lightweight rainproof jacket, picnic materials (plates, bottles, etc), and room for my ipad mini. It also needs to be rainproof, lightweight and not too heavy to carry.

My ds does a lot of trips with cubs, so this backpack would be great. Plenty of space for storing all the essentials; water bottle, shoes, torch and waterproof trousers. As well as big clip for easy access especially when his hands are cold!
www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-black-traveller-backpack-189e33

JulesJules · 23/03/2018 07:41

I like this sand brushed one, although there were loads I liked. I usually have a plain black backpack but this one would make a great change.
I have a basket on the hall table with bag essentials - packets of tissues, wipes, handgel. I also check phone, purse, keys, travel pass, fold up shopper bag, notebook, pens, small zipped bag with nailfile, plasters, handcream. I like an outside mesh pocket for waterbottle or umbrella.

Redtartanshoes · 23/03/2018 07:49

Love this reflective one

I use my current. Backpack a lot for cycling so inner tube pump and puncture repair kit would be top of this list of essentials. Always space for a wee lipstick and some snacks though. Just incase Wink

cathisherwood · 23/03/2018 08:26

I love the beach one which I could fit my swimming stuff in when I visit the local pool
www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-beach-backpack
but my grandson would love this one www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-x-turtles-shell-backpack
Its so unusual and he would take it out with him with provisions when den building

www.justhype.co.uk/bags/hype-multi-vintage-rose-backpack

I love the above backpack. Would be perfect for summer when I plan to start walking to work again and need space for all those extra bits I need.

It also would be perfect for days out with my five year old, where I still need a few wipes and tissues and hand sanitizer as well as my own stuff I carry too.

These are lovely bags, they have a few id love.

NewImprovedNinja · 23/03/2018 10:25

This would be perfect for carrying my gym kit, assuming I had a gym kit. Grin
