The time has come round yet again for the Insight team at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to plead for those of you not yet on our panel to sign up and to thank you all for taking part in some amazing projects this year! Xmas Smile

We have had lots of staff changes in the team this year and sadly RebeccaEMumsnet is leaving us at Christmas to go back up north - we wish her the best - she’s a Star.

Read on for the chance to win...
~ A Just for Tots weekend break at Butlins in Minehead in May - this would be for a family in a newly refurbished Seaside Apartment with premium dining (worth more than £800) or
~ A £50 giftcard to spend at M&S or
~ A £50 giftcard to spend in Matalan or
~ A REN skincare Moroccan Rose Otto Luxury set worth £49

In 2016, we have given away over £50,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers in exchange for sharing feedback, completing a short survey or for simply sharing a tip on a thread Smile.

Our faves this year have been giving MNers and their families money to spend in PizzaExpress on their new menu, sending them to the Slumberland factory (and then hearing how their new mattresses helped make bedtime bliss), having a Wizarding Time with a massive MN group at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Watford and being one of the first to try and hear loads about new Coca-Cola Zero Sugar at Coke HQ. We LOVED your imaginary play tales for MegaBloks and we were thrilled when our baby names survey made the headlines.

For a chance to win one of the prizes, please do one of the below

a) Share on this thread what you have enjoyed taking part in this year, or appreciated reading about OR
b) Tell us on this thread what you’d like to product test next year OR
c) Join the panel * - where you'll have the opportunity to share your views with MNHQ on a variety of topics and with the companies we work with and chances to win vouchers OR
d) Follow us or retweet one of our tweets over on our new-for-this-year twitter page @MumsnetInsight *

  • NB if you do c or d post on this thread to let us know you’ve done it to be entered into the draws!

Most of the product tests, surveys etc are on site but we also do a lot of projects with our lovely insight research panel, as well as often giving them the heads up about the latest things and chances to win on site. If you are not yet on our panel please do sign up now. You can select how often you get emailed and you can leave at any time if it’s not for you.

Thanks as ever for your time and feedback - all very much welcome Xmas Smile

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

I was lucky enough to take part in the Slumberland mattress trial, 9 months on we're still sleeping soundly on our comfy kingsize, even when the DCs join us Grin I still can't believe we were picked, and how much difference a quality mattress makes

I'd love to try out some family days out

SaltySeaBird · 02/01/2017 18:58

It's not been a great year for me as somebody on the panel as I've not been lucky to get into very much at all. I guess as the site continues to grow and more people apply opportunities become far less.

I've was part of the Cadbury panel which was a pointless experience as I didn't get so much as a whiff of chocolate. I did make the mistake of telling DD that we were accepted for a Easter Egg decorating test but our Egg was posted with no postage paid so the fee to collect it was more than buying the Egg from the supermarket. It stayed at the sorting office.

We did get to test some Lidl nappies but were underwhelmed by them.

And that was it for 2016 for us.

For 2017 I'd love to test skincare products, anything fitness related or anything technology/digital.

In the past I've liked the kids taste tests, we did a great Little Dish one in 2015 and as a result I still buy their products now. We also still buy BEAR paws after trying them through MN.

I'll keep applying / entering and maybe 2017 will end up more memorable!

BigGreenOlives · 02/01/2017 21:01

I've tested the Samsung Addwash which I really like. I'd like to test a tumble dryer really soon as I have space & need to buy one! I'd like to know why dryers with condensers & heat pumps are now widely available & vented are less popular (a well known chain of dept stores only sell Samsung condenser driers & I want to know why).

I'd like to know about wifi range extenders too & dog beds (which ones hold their shape after they've been washed).

marshgirl · 02/01/2017 21:30

I would love to test things for teenagers as most things are aimed for younger children, babies and new mums. Also as said before, household gadgets to help working mums.

SantasPantsalive · 03/01/2017 00:00

I joined the panel fairly recently and was very disappointed not to be selected to try the device that was a steamer/vacuum combined - sounded amazing.

I'd be really happy to try anything suitable for teens and tweens. Days out, food, clothing, gadgets and appliances all sound good.
Wish I'd known about the mattress trial. I really must get round to getting a new one.

confuugled1 · 03/01/2017 01:22

I'd like to try things for tweens. Food, beauty, gadgets, crafts, toys would all go down very well here Grin. DC love testing things and will willingly try things when they are on a trial and enjoy debating about things they like and don't like about the thing they're testing. I might have used this to my advantage when 'testing' new foods that they weren't very keen on trying initially when they thought they were just new things that I'd bought at the supermarket but said no, they were testing them for feedback...

I don't seem to have been on the insight section of the sight as much as previous years - I got onto the Cadbury panel but didn't hear anything after the first email. There didn't seem to be as much that was as relevant to me personally or my family - or when it was, I always seemed to see it just after the sign up had closed...

Additionally, it seems to have been a busy year and I seem to have accessed MN from my phone more than my pc. Knock on effect has been fewer sign ups for surveys - because filling in the forms on the phone is often really tricky so I've got out of the habit of doing them automatically if I was eligible for something. Need to start the new year by trying them out again on the phone to see if they're better now and if I can actually fill them in without any problems!

avelte · 03/01/2017 13:09

amazing site for advise, jobs, competition giveaways, hope I get chosen soon but am always positive coming back

Bringmewineandcake · 03/01/2017 13:42

I have tested milk, wet wipes, pitrok deodorant and nasal spray and I'm always excited to take part. Never lucky enough to get drawn for the bigger items though, or the prizes. This year I would love to test a kids day out somewhere outdoorsy. And win a prize! 🏆 Grin

amrobe · 03/01/2017 14:43

I'd love to test out any weaning products. We'll be starting weaning in a few months time, would be great to have some new products to try.

vj32 · 03/01/2017 17:22

Id like to test more places to see if they are child friendly, restaurants, holiday parks etc as so many places that claim to be child friendly don't have a clue.

Id really like to try anything that might make potty training easier!

Shiraznowplease · 03/01/2017 18:45

I would love to test a vacuum cleaner, my house is filled with sports mad children and I get bits of the 4g footballpitches everywhere despite vacuuming at least once a day!! One that would banish my pet hate would be amazing. Also scented candles to cover the smell
Of all that sports kit that is waiting to be washed!!!

Hel2win · 03/01/2017 19:27

I've just joined !! Can't wait to get started. I have a husband and 3 children who are all keen to be involved with testing products or days out. We are all so excited for the forthcoming adventure that 2017 bring us with mumsnet xxx

GiraffesAndButterflies · 03/01/2017 20:35

I was very glad to have some Pampers to test. I was expecting a teeny pack of just a few so a proper retail size pack was a pleasure and made me feel it was my job to give properly detailed feedback!

And since you asked, I'd love to test a bread maker Grin

SuzCG · 04/01/2017 09:35

Our dog loved being part of the Pedigree test this year! Wish we'd been selected for Pizza Express so we could have been as well fed...

Seriously, always love being selected for any of the product tests.

My dream test would be a little break away somewhere with the family - nothing fancy, anything would do!

Mrshairyhead · 04/01/2017 10:15

I would love to test children's toiletries. Food testing is also popular in this house.

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 04/01/2017 11:30

I was very lucky this year on sponsored threads, and won2 lots of Lidl vouchers, some fabric conditioner/washing liquid, and also £300 vouchers of my choice, which I used to buy lots of things for DD including a new bed!

I like to test childrens snacks and biscuits, also toiletries and vitamins.

We did do the Cadburys Easter Egg test which was good (we were one of the lucky ones whose egg arrived in one piece Grin). Also tested Freddo hot chocolate which my DD loved, so plenty more Cadburys testing would be great Grin.

sianihedgehog · 04/01/2017 12:04

I feel so incredibly lucky to have been chosen to test the Sony Xperia X this year! We've recently bought our first home, and had a baby and there isn't a single free penny in my budget, so when my phone started playing up I was starting to think I'd be getting an old Nokia. Having a gorgeous shiny new phone has been WONDERFUL.

I'd love to test a multi zone thermostat in the next year - something with smart radiator controls that link to the boiler so that when the baby moves into his own room I can make sure that it stays comfortable in there and MAYBE helps him to actually sleep through - but without cooking the rest of the house!

I'd join the panel and follow you, but I've already done both! Smile

Ivytheterrible · 04/01/2017 16:15

I'd love to test a tumble dryer. I've never had one and can't decide if it would be worth making room for one somewhere now we have 3 children...

PixieL · 04/01/2017 21:38

vincenta · 05/01/2017 07:33

thank you! I love to be part of panel as it is so exciting to apply for product test and then check email in hope that you are lucky one :)This year we tested Matalan school wear, Pampers baby dry nappies.we also enjoyed Cadbury Freddo hot chocolate.Tested toddler cutlery set and laundry non bio detergent and fabric softener. my family just loved Napolina product test it was so yummy and easy for me to cook:) The best thing however was David Lloyds event and week membership.we lived so close for 8 years and never tried it before. My both sons loved swimming as pool was lovely and warm and for me non swimmer it felt safe too as it wasn't deep.we loved every bit of trial.
next year would love to test tumble dryer, phones, kitchen gadgets, things for garden, stuff for pets, toiletries, make up, toys, clothes, short break, and all other lovely things:)

Stej7 · 05/01/2017 10:06

We have loved our product testing this year.In particular the saline nasal spray..which arrived just at the right time! We would love to test some home appliances or days out

Bez33 · 05/01/2017 10:48

Joined the panel!

michele1970 · 05/01/2017 10:53

I would love to test a washing machine please :-)

CatThiefKeith · 05/01/2017 12:13

We were lucky enough to be selected for the Pedigree dog food test, which the dog was thrilled about, and the fabric softener test, both of which I now buy as a result of the tests.

Was Bassetts Vitamins early this year or late last year? Either way, we enjoyed that too, adn having bought them regularly since.

Would very much like to product test a tumble dryer, a vacuum cleaner or a nice little family friendly holiday park somewhere, but I'm sure I'm not alone in that!

Thanks for a fab year, have thoroughly enjoyed being on the panel
