The time has come round yet again for the Insight team at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to plead for those of you not yet on our panel to sign up and to thank you all for taking part in some amazing projects this year! Xmas Smile

We have had lots of staff changes in the team this year and sadly RebeccaEMumsnet is leaving us at Christmas to go back up north - we wish her the best - she’s a Star.

Read on for the chance to win...
~ A Just for Tots weekend break at Butlins in Minehead in May - this would be for a family in a newly refurbished Seaside Apartment with premium dining (worth more than £800) or
~ A £50 giftcard to spend at M&S or
~ A £50 giftcard to spend in Matalan or
~ A REN skincare Moroccan Rose Otto Luxury set worth £49

In 2016, we have given away over £50,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers in exchange for sharing feedback, completing a short survey or for simply sharing a tip on a thread Smile.

Our faves this year have been giving MNers and their families money to spend in PizzaExpress on their new menu, sending them to the Slumberland factory (and then hearing how their new mattresses helped make bedtime bliss), having a Wizarding Time with a massive MN group at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Watford and being one of the first to try and hear loads about new Coca-Cola Zero Sugar at Coke HQ. We LOVED your imaginary play tales for MegaBloks and we were thrilled when our baby names survey made the headlines.

For a chance to win one of the prizes, please do one of the below

a) Share on this thread what you have enjoyed taking part in this year, or appreciated reading about OR
b) Tell us on this thread what you’d like to product test next year OR
c) Join the panel * - where you'll have the opportunity to share your views with MNHQ on a variety of topics and with the companies we work with and chances to win vouchers OR
d) Follow us or retweet one of our tweets over on our new-for-this-year twitter page @MumsnetInsight *

  • NB if you do c or d post on this thread to let us know you’ve done it to be entered into the draws!

Most of the product tests, surveys etc are on site but we also do a lot of projects with our lovely insight research panel, as well as often giving them the heads up about the latest things and chances to win on site. If you are not yet on our panel please do sign up now. You can select how often you get emailed and you can leave at any time if it’s not for you.

Thanks as ever for your time and feedback - all very much welcome Xmas Smile

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin
AnnMumsnet, PoppyMumsnet, EmmaMumsnet, JustineBMumsnet (not that one), and RebeccaEMumsnet.

I have enjoyed taking part in product tests that involved food Grin the Easter egg decorating was good. I would love to test anything allergy related as we are a house full of eczema sufferers or a family day out somewhere that is accessible for non-drivers.

Slowdownsally · 29/12/2016 20:50

I would like to test some products around learning for autistic children. I never know where to start with some of the equipment and technology available...

Iamnotanugget · 29/12/2016 21:07

I tested breakfast cereal, chocolate and children's snacks. The children loved trying new products. Think I may have tested a few other things too. I enjoy getting new things in the post.
I would love to test holidays, cinema trips and more everyday products like food stuffs and cleaning products.
Thanks for picking me to test items this year.

I've done masses of surveys but not won any prize draws, applied to test tonnes of things but only been picked for one (bath toys and bib) and have been on the Cadbury panel for over a year but not got any chocolate at all Sad. So I've been a little jaded with the number of emails and requests for me to give information (and personal photos to Cadbury'sConfused) without getting much back at all. But I'm hanging in there hoping for a bit more luck being chosen next year! Fingers crossed.

elpth · 30/12/2016 02:22

What have people on the Cadbury panel been doing this year? I've been asked for lots of stuff I haven't wanted to give them (like photos) and have applied to test chocolate but not been chosen. Do I need to give them more personal information before they'll give me more chocolate? Confused
I'm just interested/confused by people saying they've enjoyed it as it's been a disappointment to me (after much initial anticipation and excitement).

Purplehonesty · 30/12/2016 08:35

We've tested a few things but my favourite was breakfast at Bella Italia.
We had a lovely time and enjoyed trying all the different varieties of breakfast on offer.
I've also won vouchers this year and had the best time shopping for new clothes. It's something I very rarely get to do and so it was such a lovely treat.
Looking forward to 2017 I love reading all the threads - thanks mumsnet x

bracken101 · 30/12/2016 08:40

I would love to product test more gadgets or dog food! Also educational activities and games.

Please do! I emailed a winner yesterday and she was so pleased to have won and said similar about not sure about doing the surveys but honestly, someone always wins and we do post their winning MN name on this thread Smile. I think the Cadbury panel has ended now.

I think I'd like to test food or children's books. I've also really enjoyed taking part in the books webchats, having the chance to chat to authors and getting a couple of free books.

Tkw2014 · 30/12/2016 12:31

I love being part of insight and hope I am chosen this year to product test something. I like having a chance to 'win' by doing the surveys - not lucky enough to win this year but fingers crossed for 2017!

MerlinsBeard87 · 30/12/2016 13:03

We tested pampers nappies and sterimar nasal spray which was great. We would be interested in trying any new baby carriers or slings

thesoupdragon44 · 30/12/2016 13:59

I would love the chance to try out more family restaurants as I find food tastes change as my son gets older and children's menus are now only aimed at the up to 10 age group. As he is 11 now it can still be tricky to find a balance. I loved reading about the pizza express trial and will have to now add this to our list of places to try.

FlipFlopCottonTail · 30/12/2016 17:41

I've enjoyed reading the sales threads, some of the review threads too!

Next year I'll hopefully be able to test something! Grin

kateandme · 30/12/2016 19:01

kids soft toys.
books
music for kids.
teenage stuff
edible stuff
anything that could help calm, ease.meditate, breathe better

Uzma01 · 30/12/2016 20:24

It would be good to have more foodie related product tests, either to be sent stuff to cook with or more family friendly restaurants.

Just a suggestion - but it would be good to have deadlines for feedback clearly marked on all product tests and book club reads, so we know how much time we have to give reviews/make comments. This would also make it easier for you lovely ladies at MNHQ to have winners picked in a more timely manner (not sure if the process can be automated.)

Keep up the good work and thanks for the opportunities to give our opinions, test stuff and generally have a good laugh at some of the other content on MN. Grin

Maniacalparrot · 30/12/2016 22:07

Loved the tablet testing

Next year I would love to test family friendly holidays and days out, always looking for new ideas 😄

Lariflete · 30/12/2016 22:14

I would love to test a tumble drier as we don't have one ( and our last one was a combo washer-dryer and was awful!)
I love product testing things that my children can also test. In the past we've tested schoolwear and hot chocolate so more of those things too please!!!

Sleeplessinmybedroom · 30/12/2016 22:21

I loved testing the aunt bessies roast potatoes the most. They are now my favourite frozen roast potato.
I would love to test a robot vacuum cleaner.

hayleywalden560 · 30/12/2016 22:32

Many thanks for the 'Round Up', enjoyed reading it and sounds like you've all been working very hard!
I really enjoyed trying the Fab Little Bag product - I'd thought it might be a bit gimmicky but in fact they're well designed and easy to use, I've even kept a couple back to add to the bits I've been hoarding for when my eldest daughter starts her period.
Looking forward to hopefully being selected to test some new products in the new year, and with baby no.3 planned for conception soon things should tie in nicely! I use so many online forums/blogs/reviews for information these days that it's great to be able to give something back too.
I love answering the surveys and have been lucky enough to be sent a couple of books to review which I've really enjoyed - most recently Lola the Lion Cub at Christmas my two daughters and I were both at yoga in the living room with it- it's a great introduction to yogic exercise for young ones and has got us all having a go together. Love it! Thank you.
Next year I'd love to test anything you want to throw at me!
I think that's a, b, c, & d done now so I'll stop babbling... Happy New Year all, have a great night tomorrow whatever you're up to. Bed is calling me now!

littledinaco · 30/12/2016 22:41

Have joined the panel-fingers crossed for some good things to test!

Itmustbemyage · 30/12/2016 22:48

Have recently joined the panel, not been chosen to test anything yet but am open to testing pretty much anything. Especially interested in testing kitchen equipment, crafty stuff, or any vegetarian products.

shoebedo434 · 31/12/2016 01:04

would like to try days out for young children, new brands of food and books

Tanfastic · 31/12/2016 05:20

I loved the Pizza Express product test. Had a fab family lunch out with a very generous allowance Grin.

I also enjoy giving my feedback.

Would love more mystery shopper type tests like this. Good fun!

Eyre89 · 31/12/2016 08:21

I enjoyed the little dish trial, I also enjoy the surveys as I get to read about brands I may not have had any experience with. And the same with the threads giving your opinions and tips, always helpful to read other peoples experiences. However I did win a prize on the small talk discussion thread but I never received it.
