The time has come round yet again for the Insight team at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to plead for those of you not yet on our panel to sign up and to thank you all for taking part in some amazing projects this year! Xmas Smile

We have had lots of staff changes in the team this year and sadly RebeccaEMumsnet is leaving us at Christmas to go back up north - we wish her the best - she’s a Star.

Read on for the chance to win...
~ A Just for Tots weekend break at Butlins in Minehead in May - this would be for a family in a newly refurbished Seaside Apartment with premium dining (worth more than £800) or
~ A £50 giftcard to spend at M&S or
~ A £50 giftcard to spend in Matalan or
~ A REN skincare Moroccan Rose Otto Luxury set worth £49

In 2016, we have given away over £50,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers in exchange for sharing feedback, completing a short survey or for simply sharing a tip on a thread Smile.

Our faves this year have been giving MNers and their families money to spend in PizzaExpress on their new menu, sending them to the Slumberland factory (and then hearing how their new mattresses helped make bedtime bliss), having a Wizarding Time with a massive MN group at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Watford and being one of the first to try and hear loads about new Coca-Cola Zero Sugar at Coke HQ. We LOVED your imaginary play tales for MegaBloks and we were thrilled when our baby names survey made the headlines.

For a chance to win one of the prizes, please do one of the below

a) Share on this thread what you have enjoyed taking part in this year, or appreciated reading about OR
b) Tell us on this thread what you’d like to product test next year OR
c) Join the panel * - where you'll have the opportunity to share your views with MNHQ on a variety of topics and with the companies we work with and chances to win vouchers OR
d) Follow us or retweet one of our tweets over on our new-for-this-year twitter page @MumsnetInsight *

  • NB if you do c or d post on this thread to let us know you’ve done it to be entered into the draws!

Most of the product tests, surveys etc are on site but we also do a lot of projects with our lovely insight research panel, as well as often giving them the heads up about the latest things and chances to win on site. If you are not yet on our panel please do sign up now. You can select how often you get emailed and you can leave at any time if it’s not for you.

Thanks as ever for your time and feedback - all very much welcome Xmas Smile

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

my brain always goes a bit blank about exactly what has come through this year and whether it was actually this year or last year - we loved the little dish snacks (o's) and the bear alphabites cereals.

Would have loved to have done the harry potter thing - must have missed that one altogether as it is my son's fave thing at the moment. Would love to see more about that next year.

Appliances are always good - things that surprise you about how good they are like perhaps the dyson hair dryer which looks silly but i am guessing really works well.

Any cleaning products and kids food products always well received and good to try out - have become a loyal customer of things we've tried out in the past - so really worth doing!

NewNameNoFace · 19/12/2016 23:28

I product tested the pit rock deodorant, I didn't even know it existed so thank you.

I love testing, would like to test something to keep me warm on the school run. Also anything food related. Fun places to visit would also be great.

Il be honest, i would test anything Grin

foxessocks · 19/12/2016 23:51

I would like to product test a washing machine or a steam cleaner ! Boring but necessary!

like7 · 20/12/2016 01:28

I had a lovely time at the Coke Zero talk/lunch/testing. Thank you.
I would love to try out almost anything - I was disappointed not to try out the
mattress. I also had a free book which I really enjoyed - Black Rabbit Hall.

FoofFighter · 20/12/2016 07:07

We received a copy of Merry Christmas Blue Kangaroo via MN this year, would love to get more books or Merlot

HOHOHOvariesBeforeBrovaries · 20/12/2016 12:09

I've loved reading the insights and product tests this year, it's such a valuable part of Mumsnet! I'd like to test potty training gear, we need to step it up a notch with DD next year and I'm always on the lookout for things to make life a bit easier!

Happy trails RebeccaEMumsnet, thanks for everything you've done Star

peaceloveandbiscuits · 20/12/2016 12:46

My favourite thing to test was the Little Dish Go Go snacks. I was really impressed at the dairy free recipe, and passed a few packs onto a friend whose toddler is dairy intolerant. She and I both regularly buy them for our children now. Little Dish also inundated me with free vouchers for their toddler meals and Go Gos, so they've become a firm favourite brand Smile

I'm expecting a new baby in the summer so am looking forward to being part of the younger baby demographic again, now that my DS is 2yo, and hopefully testing some baby-centred things for you.

BonjourMinou · 20/12/2016 13:43

I'm going to copy a pp and say I'd love to product test a car! Failing that, a steam cleaner, or steam cleaner/vacuum combo.

My favourite thing I tested this year was the extra strong bin bags. They were amazing!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 20/12/2016 13:59

Still so sad I missed out on the bin bags Xmas Sad

DressedToExpress · 20/12/2016 14:12

More restaurants to test please. Think some chains have a lot more work to do to make them truly child-friendly. Plus any gadgets that would help me save time on family stuff and life admin. Heading back to work in January and currently estimate needing about 29 hours in each day to get everything that needs doing done (and still have time for wine and sleep).

CrumblyMumbly · 20/12/2016 15:17

I've really enjoyed being on the panel and testing all sorts of different things. Also liked giving my opinion (when asked, for once!) on different subjects from Brexit to biscuits - sounds like a film title... Best of all I won £100 Tesco gift card which I've just put towards a new television for the family as our one decided to conk out just before Christmas. Here's to 2017 - thanks Mumsnet for everything.

boptanana · 20/12/2016 15:38

I tested visqueen bin bags, it doesn't take much to please me but they were great( it's the little things Grin

Floralnomad · 20/12/2016 16:10

I missed the bin bags , would have enjoyed that . I wouldn't mind testing any cleaning stuff , anything that saves time in the kitchen or anything dog related ( except actual food ) . I've not tested anything this year but I'm still getting lots of use out of my Tomtom satnav , so thanks .

BadlyWrittenPoem · 20/12/2016 16:57

I'd love to test some slings.

YesThisIsMe · 20/12/2016 18:23

I don't think I got chosen for any tests this year (I tested loads of great stuff over the last couple of years though, and am still spending a huge voucher I won in a competition so I'm not complaining). The DCs have been asking plaintively whether I can find them any of the Cadburys Baubles I tested last year.

I like testing food, cinema visits and attractions - gutted that I couldn't even apply for the Harry Potter one.

queenoftheschoolrun · 20/12/2016 20:00

The bin bags were great, the smashed easter egg decorating kit not so much!

I think they were the only products I got to test but I've had lots of books for me and DD to review which are always welcome.

I too would love to test a Kitchenaid mixer or family experiences e.g. restaurants, films, days out etc.

BubbleFairy · 20/12/2016 20:46

I've been so so fortunate over the years with mumsnet, but this year was definitely the Sony Xperia product test. For the first time ever I held some weight with DSS! And it is truly something I use all day everyday!

CathyGlynn · 20/12/2016 22:03

I loved testing out the Xperia phone, the camera is fabulous. I would love to put some white goods through their paces.

Whyisitsodifficult · 20/12/2016 22:25

I would love to test a home ipl system, love the idea of them but can't justify spending that much if they don't work! Or any Dyson product. Or veg box delivery services, again I like the idea but would I really use it. New beauty products, I could go on!
We were lucky enough to go to the Harry Potter Studio Tour which was brilliant. Thanks Mumsnet and Happy Christmas.

littlemouse15 · 20/12/2016 22:32

I enjoyed going to the pedigree site (waltham center for pet nutrition), I had always had a negative view of the company (mostly just from hear say) and the tour of the site and discussion afterwards really opened my eyes. I had no idea that there would be animals onsite , but it was nice to know that they get rehomed after a certain amount of years and they live comftably and are looked after well. I have enjoyed all of my product tests but actually going out for the day and meeting new people was great

ClaireH76 · 20/12/2016 22:38

I was selected for nappies which was ideal for me with a new baby and no clue which ones to use!
That helped us a lot :)

I loved testing suncream! It was lovely. 😀

ThanksForAllTheFish · 21/12/2016 02:34

Without a doubt it was taking part in the product trial for the Sony Xperia X. I am very, very grateful I was chosen and still love my new phone.

For next year I would be happy to trial anything really! Gadgets and child's clothing are always good to trial.

SillyMoomin · 21/12/2016 07:58

I loved being able to test the valspar paint this year, and read about everyone's experiences with the tumble dryers!!

I would like the chance to product test smart TVs (how do they work??!) and oh go on then, if you really want to know, an Audi TT

Too cheeky?? Xmas Grin
