DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Decision makers are 100% working weekends and if I’m not mistaken they work up until 8pm so a decision could have been made on Friday! The day my son was awarded I rang just before closing time and a decision wasn’t made but when I rang the next morning the decision was made the day before after lines had closed x

Fingers crossed I’m gonna ring on Monday straight away and see what they say I’m praying we get awarded this time

I not long ago got my sons decision over turned though MR so I know the feeling. I was prepared for the worst, had all paperwork ready for tribunal, but it went in our favour! I’m hoping the same happens for you! If the decision isn’t made on Monday you can ask for it to be escalated because that is their deadline and it should be sorted fairly quickly from there x

I’ll escalate it then on Monday if no decision has been made I’m hoping it has and we get what he deserves

Another week rolls on past for my baby girl 🥲
NC with SD 16/08 I haven’t even bothered calling this week
I am very convinced it’s a decline at this stage with dates well ahead of me being done now. Some of you may of remembered from previous I’m applying for baby she is 9 months now but she’s been a patient of gosh since birth and has had 5 surgeries so far! She has a lifelong condition so we went to apply even though know it’s not until 3 plus usually.

To update you ladies…. Decline!
received the letter today dated 06.01.25 got straight on the phone and applied for MR.
going to send through all the photos of my daughter so they can see what it looks like what I have to deal with.
letter of decline was useless so I need to call through to the enquiries line to find out more tomorrow. I don’t like this rule of greater care need and that babies practically don’t clarify. I have two young children, 1 of 3 years and 1 of 9 months. So I have experience in young babies and my second the one I am claiming for has been born with a lifelong condition going through multiple surgeries to help her so far and more to go each one has a 3-4 week healing process with multiple extra things I need to do for her to help her heal! I knew they wouldn’t understand because it is rare but I just wanted her to be recognised well both of us. We go to London to gosh hospital multiple times every couple of months etc. it’s just a lot 🥹

Stacey0909 · 13/01/2025 19:53

Mines July and past 25 weeks and they escalated it today, said decision maker was on sick so it’ll be passed to a different one and I will hear this week

Micd3896 · 13/01/2025 23:10

Hi everyone just an update for everyone who’s waiting

scan date was 20/08
awarded 06/01 - found out 07/01
backpay received 09/01
informed UC 07/01
UC accepted the backpay request 10/01 and issued a payment due to go into bank tomorrow.
DLA award letter come today 13/01

if only dla was as fast making a decision as they was sending the payment.

UC was incredibly fast I was expecting to wait weeks

srellim · 14/01/2025 07:44

Recieved payment today for COC
scan date 18/09
Calculated it was the difference between MRC and HRC! So that must mean declined for Mobility (DS is 3) I am certain ds qualifies for HRM, was just about to send off more evidence when I got the payment.
I didn't get any texts only 2 letters stating it will take 15 weeks and another that they are still looking at the claim..
Good Luck to everyone still waiting!

Is it better to do MR on the phone or in writing?

@Ecgx I am so sorry about your decline.

I'm going back 9 years now but I was previously awarded for my late DD from 5 months old so they definitely can award for babies with many additional needs! I'm so sorry you've got a fight on your hands after all the waiting

Hi all New clam SD 30/09 Called today said with DM So anxious really can't wait Fingers cross soon.
Good luck all..

TippieTappyTara · 16/01/2025 11:07

I am so freaking lost. I'm so sick of these wait times if its not for adhd/asd assessments taking up to 3 years it's the dla taking 25 weeks+😭all I wanna do is help my child and the government are making it so hard. I had to call dla today and tell them how my 4 year old unlocked the front door and got out the garden gate at 4am standing on the street .. while I was sleeping and encouraging his scared 3yro brother to go with him. The worse part he's so oblivious to the dangers. If my dog didn't start barking I'd of lost my children 😭😭 im sorry ive no one else to talk to. I requested financial hardship so I can upgrade house safety but because ive never been in receipt of dla im not entitled to fast track. All i wanna do is scream

Stacey0909 · 16/01/2025 14:36
