DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

@JW070116 thank you for the reminder, hadn’t check the thread since the morning. Thankful someone made a new one. It’s not tagged unfortunately on the old thread. Hopefully people check if a new one’s been posted. Hope you’re hanging in there xx

Yeah I did try and go back to add the link but someone had just posted the 1000th post so was unable to! Hopefully people go in to the SN children section and find us :)

Eek are renewals taking 15weeks?! SD 17/12 bit award finishes end January

I think the line is up to 15 weeks though I have never done a renewal so cannot be sure!

I am taking everything they say with a pinch of salt tbh! From people being told they will be waiting a month only to get a decision the next day! Confused

I still don't see what the issue is with changing the letters!

Money apparently. The call handlers have asked for the letters to be updated in the hope they won’t receive as many calls when the old deadlines have approached or passed but so far nothing has been done

One of the reasons that my application has been declined is no diagnosis. I thought you didnt have to have a diagnosis to claim dla?

Singarsu · 30/12/2024 22:26

New Claim

SD: 19/08

Keeping all crossed for everyone and for our claim for our 13yr old son diagnosed with ASD amongst other things! Have chased twice to be told it's not even been looked at yet! Last time was 18th Dec.

This is a bit shocking. No you don’t have to have a diagnosis to be eligible for DLA. My son was awarded well before he received his autism diagnosis. They also state it’s not the diagnosis per se but rather the affects of the diagnosis. Many here have kids that are suspected or on the pathway ie no formal diagnosis. I absolutely would be questioning this.

Ash900 · 30/12/2024 22:48

just seeing how much we could potentially get if we’re accepted. Can someone help me out with how much extra we would get monthly (I know dla is 4 weekly but we budget monthly) with the extra uc elements too please? Cause it really confuses me trying to work it out. So I’m trying to work out monthly Lrc, Lrc & lrm, Mrc, Mrc & lrm, Hrc, Hrc and lrm along with carers element and child disability element on uc. Honestly I’ve tried but I’m getting different amounts every time I work it out 😂😂

macap · 30/12/2024 23:55

@SKB12 seriously how!? Surely they just edit some type of word document and that's that.

Am I being stupid? 😆

£156.11 UC disabled child element for LOW/medium care
£487.58 UC disabled child element for HRC per month
carers element is £198.31 a month.
if you claim Carers allowance, that will be deducted from your UC each month.

some months you will get DLA twice due to it being paid 4 weekly so some months it comes in at the start and end UC stays the same though you won’t get that twice.

its honestly not worth working out the DLA until you get your award, then just go of that x

You do not need a diagnosis to claim DLA. It’s all based around the child’s needs and what extra care they need compared to a child of a similar age. If your claim was rejected based of not having a diagnosis then I would be putting in a MR and also a complaint, as it clearly states on the gov website that it’s about the needs not the diagnosis x

LRC £114.80
LRC & LRM £229.60
MRC £290.60
MRC & LRM £405.40
HRC £434.20
HRC & LRM £549

Someone else may need to jump in regarding UC but I think it’s:

£198.31 per month for carers element.
£156.11 per month lower child disability element. £487.58 for higher child disability element.

You would think so but they don’t like to do anything the easy way! If we could upload evidence online and check that it’s been scanned, how many calls would that save. If Scotland can do it, we can too. 🤨

SKB12 · 31/12/2024 00:29

Backpay received. Awarded 24/12. Chels isn’t here yet but I know she and one other were also waiting. Typical fashion payment before the letter 😂
