DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Hey everyone, I read somewhere today that without a diagnosis the maximum award length is 2 years - is this true does anybody know? Thanks.

I don't know if this is true but I can say before diagnosis my children's awards where only for 2 years.
Once they had a diagnosis one was given a 8 year award he will be so will be 13 when his renewal is due.
And my daughter got given a 6 year award. She's now on pip and awarded for 8 years.
Recently put a new claim in for ds2 at the time who is diagnosed with development delay, speech delay, pica and is on waiting list for ASD assesement. He was given a 2 year award.

Well done to all receiving their awards. I’ve got 2 NC’s in the system.

SD 30/9 and 28/11 … been post watching but think I’ve got abit of a wait yet. Phoned recently and told 25 week wait

Same oct SD as me. I have two NC in also. Tbf one should've been put in for years ago but I just didn't get round to it stupidly. I thought she wouldn't qualify. It wasn't until our FSW said to apply that I did.

I hope you hear soon 🤞 I was same GP told me to apply for both, one was later than other as family court and getting full custody happened in between and I found the forms very overwhelming

After believing it was going to be a decline I finally received payment today. Didn't even know a decision had been made as it hadn't on Monday afternoon. Was 21 weeks yesterday.

SD NC 14/08 for 2.5y old with GDD. Not walking or talking as well as other delays. Does anyone know how I would apply for mobility when he turns 3 if he's still not walking by then? Did try to call DLA today but wait took forever and then had school runs to do.

Congrats to all that got their awards today 😊

Ecgx · 10/01/2025 23:49

Another week rolls on past for my baby girl 🥲
NC with SD 16/08 I haven’t even bothered calling this week
I am very convinced it’s a decline at this stage with dates well ahead of me being done now. Some of you may of remembered from previous I’m applying for baby she is 9 months now but she’s been a patient of gosh since birth and has had 5 surgeries so far! She has a lifelong condition so we went to apply even though know it’s not until 3 plus usually.

Hopefully you hear soon! From 3 months old they can award DLA as long as the child has extra care needs, and by the sounds of it I think you’ll be absolutely fine ! Fingers are crossed for you🤞🏽 hope your little one is okay🫶🏽

Hi and congats to everyone whos had good news in the last few days!
Quick question.... I need to add a new medication thats just been prescribed and a new referral, awaiting appointment, that's been put through since SD, can I phone and add this on or do I have to send evidence through post? NC so I'm not too sure how it all works.

If you phone up and ask them to make a note of the meds and the referral, you can then post any evidence in 😊

@SKB12 blue badge received today after 5 working days. 7 days including weekend!

How strange, ours too and we had the approval on the same day as well 😂

Our councils must work very similar😂 such a massive relief that it’s done🙏 think that was the last thing I needed to do x

@JW070116 thanks I'll phone them on Monday 😊

Abbie12 · 11/01/2025 13:14

Morning all I did a MR July yesterday was 25 week mark and they told me on the phone yesterday it can’t go past Monday but still at 4:55 there wasn’t a decision but she said they work weekends so ring Monday and I should have an answer. I’m thinking I’m gonna be declined again and have to start the court process. How often do they actually work weekends

I've heard few people say they definitely work weekends, how often i don't know. I'm 22 weeks for MR next week and if I'm declined again the I'll be going down this route to 😫 i think there is a page on dla that explains tribunal action but I've nit looked into it yet. I've seen a few people on here that are already in one though

I’ve looked into it all already and from looking at other forums etc it can take 2 year for a court date witch terrifies me. I’m hoping with everything in me we are awarded this time If not a fight in court it will be I will get what my little man deserves

Decision makers are 100% working weekends and if I’m not mistaken they work up until 8pm so a decision could have been made on Friday! The day my son was awarded I rang just before closing time and a decision wasn’t made but when I rang the next morning the decision was made the day before after lines had closed x
