DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

To update you ladies…. Decline!
received the letter today dated 06.01.25 got straight on the phone and applied for MR.
going to send through all the photos of my daughter so they can see what it looks like what I have to deal with.
letter of decline was useless so I need to call through to the enquiries line to find out more tomorrow. I don’t like this rule of greater care need and that babies practically don’t clarify. I have two young children, 1 of 3 years and 1 of 9 months. So I have experience in young babies and my second the one I am claiming for has been born with a lifelong condition going through multiple surgeries to help her so far and more to go each one has a 3-4 week healing process with multiple extra things I need to do for her to help her heal! I knew they wouldn’t understand because it is rare but I just wanted her to be recognised well both of us. We go to London to gosh hospital multiple times every couple of months etc. it’s just a lot 🥹

Your little one sounds very similar to mine, life long bone disease, already had surgery and needing quite a few more. He’s just turned 3, his claim was also declined so have put in for an MR, only about 3weeks in but the waiting is horrific

Kc1999x · 17/01/2025 14:34

Remember the decision makers are looking for daily care needs. I understand your children have rare needs but they may be looking at it as your child has a surgery and only needs care after surgeries and then they are fine until the next one. From what use are saying this is not the case so focus on how your child needs daily care even after the surgery recovery, how it affects them day to day. Best of luck🫶🏽 and hope your children get the decision they deserve! X

I’m confusing myself and abit tired ..

my scan date is 30/9 is it backdated to that date or the date the form is requested. Apologies if asked before. I currently have 2 claims in, the other one is end of November. Thank you x

Usually it's the date that was stamped on the form which they send out, that's if you ring up for them.

I downloaded ours so it will just be backdated from the scan date.

Also there's a new thread now so make sure to pop over there too! Wait times 62.. I can't link, sorry!

I've heard few people say they definitely work weekends, how often i don't know. I'm 22 weeks for MR next week and if I'm declined again the I'll be going down this route to 😫 i think there is a page on dla that explains tribunal action but I've nit looked into it yet. I've seen a few people on here that are already in one though

They do work weekends. People have received texts on Saturday and Sunday.

SKB12 · 22/01/2025 09:11

Hi all, sorry I’ve been quiet. Hope everyone is well and hanging in there if you’re still waiting on decisions.

Seafish1985 · 28/01/2025 08:48

Hello, I'm new here. I applied for dla for my son who was diagnosed autistic, last year November. I got a letter saying they received it on the 22nd of November then to wait. We'll I spoke to my UC coach yesterday, and she said are you claiming dla for (sons name) ? I don't know how she knew? I explained I'm still waiting to hear. Could this mean it has been approved but I haven't received info yet but it's on the system so UC could see it? Sorry it's long!

Hanskie · 29/01/2025 17:23

Hi all my son was awarded last week his scan date was 4/9 for a new claim. I informed universal credit straight away and done a change of circumstances for my son. Does anyone happen to know how long UC takes to add his disabled element on?
Goodluck everyone on your claims

how long is a piece of string 🤣 I updated mines waiting for “verification” whatever than means. Last time it took two weeks for it to hit my bank account. If you don’t hear in a week call up UC should help move things quicker x

zoeybrooks45 · 30/01/2025 18:10

@Stacey0909 have you not call for an update hun? They have probably wrapped up aug MR now. X

Kel3270 · 30/01/2025 18:32

Hey everyone, new to this thread but not new to DLA (Eldest was issued November).
My 9 year old has now been referred over to the pediatrics to look at dyslexia, dyspraxia possible ASD and ADHD. I only found out about DLA MONTHS after my eldest was diagnosed and as am sure you all know the wait was LONG (24weeks).
My question is, my son 9yo does also have additional care needs but I know we need supporting evidence. Do you think a pediatrician referral and a statement off his teacher would be sufficient?

It took four weeks for me. Once you get the letter off the DM saying they have accepted the reasons. Call and ask for it to be escalated to your case manager to issue payment. Mine was issued the same day I made the call and I got it 4 days later x

I’ve not phoned them for a couple of months. I may contact tomorrow. My eldest son’s claim took 20 weeks. Applied in may last year and was awarded in September. I was shocked to have been accepted for it just because he wears hearing aids. So thought I would try with my youngest because he’s under investigation for ASD and adhd.

Sounds exactly the same as my son apart from he’s verbal. He’s on his 3rd crèche because they can’t cope with him. He’s 3 years old. He’s under early years and the disability team. Also doesn’t sleep much. Really hard work if we take him out in public. Would be interesting to compare what we both get if anything at all.
