The tick box doesn’t take long but the wait for the assessment is huge, first they will look at the questionnaire to decide if they will accept the referral. My son is waiting for his. We received a lettwr to say our son had been accepted but that there was a long wait

We have been very lucky to be able to go private so the wait is reduced. (Thanks Dad!) my other DC are on the NHS pathway though. Have you heard of right to choose?

Awww he won’t. I’m just overthinking as usual. My 11 year old gets MRC and LRM for personal care reasons and doesn’t have a 1:1. My brain has just gone into overdrive 🤪. Oh bless him. It’s so hard isn’t it. What was your SD again? X

Am sure we're both a pair of over thinkers, my original SD was 13/6 but I forgot to put my son's name on the form and they changed me to 17/7....I originally requested the forms on 20/2 but due to stuff that we where going through as a family I was unable to get them in till then. So I feel like it's been YEARS hahahaha xx

If there was a company that specialised in overthinking, I’d be managing director 🤣. Oh yeah I remember now. Aww bless you. It’s been so long. I really hope it’s not much longer for you 🥰 x

My daughter is almost 6 and currently on the pathway for community paediatricians. Shes showing signs of ADHD and autism, she’s definitely dyspraxic. Has an academic age of 18 months. Her speech isn’t great, I can understand her and school can now but it’s not all the time. She can’t speak in full sentences and it’s normally a few words. She sleeps in my bed - I say sleeps but it’s about an hour and then she’s up and ready for the day again. Honestly don’t know where she gets the energy from. Doesn’t play with toys just throws them around and is destructive. She sleeps in my bed so I can get up as soon as she does otherwise she’d be into everything and isn’t safe. She presents the same at school as she does at home. She’s still in nappies as she hasn’t got any understanding of toileting despite trying. She is constantly constipated and been prescribed every laxative going before. She’s been to the hospital for that and they’ve said it’s sensory and to wait for the community paediatrician. That was year ago and it’s gotten to the point where she is sick and can’t walk so I’ve rang again and waiting for another appointment later in the month because they can’t just leave her. She is the sweetest loveliest little girl but my goodness she’s hard work (dad decided he didn’t want to be a dad anymore earlier in the year and told my 3 eldest children it’s because he can’t cope with DD 🙃).

sorry for the super long post but hopefully you guys will know the struggles I’m facing and how hard it is being a sen parent. The idea of a stranger seeing some forms and saying nah she doesn’t qualify is sending me over the edge 🥲, I’ve rang them yesterday and they said it’s still waiting so looks like another few weeks for me.

congratulations all those awarded 🤍

zoeybrooks45 · 14/11/2024 10:10

@PhoenixB19 what evidence did you provide for the SMI rule? Congratulations, my coc was refused just because of age. Absolutely ridiculous. My 3 year old goes specialist school placement and gets transport to and from home and on highest band from council. Yet they put it down to age 😭. I am absolutely made up for you tho, well deserved xx

Good morning your daughter sounds just like mine!!!! She's in bed with me to because she's to much of a danger to her siblings and up all night. Also regressed in toileting and in nappys she is 5. I really hope you are seen soon by paeds and you get the award for her she truly deserves your doing brilliant! Xxx

Hey, yeah I sent in paediatric reports, eye examination report, cardiology report, Ehcp, statement from nursery, statement from his new school and a statement from my early help worker all reiterating what I said in the forms really.

Have to make sure that you cover every single rule in the form and reiterate it the whole way through.

My son only ever got HRC never got the mobility part either like you because of his age but I knew in my heart he deserves it, so it can be awarded that young, my boy was backdated to may this year and he was only 4 then xx

SD 19/6 letter received today COC not accepted but award not changed either.
He already gets MRC I was trying to add LRM
they've said I can do a MR but don't know if it's worth waiting the 25+ weeks for one. He is already 15 so will be changing to pip soon.
He's awarded for possible ADHD/ASD he is on waiting list via navigo, esophillic esophagitus, anaphylaxis allergies, allergies, dyslexia, sleep apnea, asthma and anxiety.
Thanks for all the info on here and good luck to all still waiting x

MammaLBlue · 14/11/2024 10:41

Oh I’m so fed up of ringing and getting the same answer but the anxiety is crippling me 😮‍💨! Been told no decision but can’t tell me if it with the decision maker and there computer has not updated so ring next week 🫠! .. I know I will eventually get my answer but the wait feels like years 😂!

MrsW12 · 14/11/2024 09:14

I hope so. I just keep going over and over everything and reading that bloody report to try and reassure myself. I think I I’m just nervous because I’ve seen people be declined because they don’t have a 1:1 which she doesn’t x

If it’s any help, my son didn’t have a 1:1. The school stated that they didn’t have the staff. That was when he was in primary school. He’s now at a specialist high school with much smaller class numbers and a higher staff to pupil ratio.

Aww thank you. The teacher wrote in her report that she works in small groups with staff when they are available, but has frequent check ins to make sure she’s safe and focused x
