Drinks and snacks on the table ( non alchoholic and low carb stuff to the right)..

I have no children tonight.. I may doze on and off throughout the evening as last night was a long one with DS.

Had an interesting convo with school .. Ds is now not showing any signs of distress... And has been Cured... With a touch of maturity!
Damn.. I didn't know he just needed to grow up..
< shucks>
anyway i mentioned that his anxiety was coming out physically ( bad belly for weeks and sleep talking non stop... Which is keeping the house awake every night)... And guess what?! ... It's better it coming out that way than through hard work behaviour at school.!

I. Give. Up. !

yes - it sounds more difficult for you- the age gap here is 7 years and to be fair,dd does a lot of stuff with her mates- It was a lot harder when she was younger.

moosemama · 28/01/2011 22:55

Ooo cross posted. Sounds like you have a fantastic weekend planned. Lucky DP!

I dream of a weekend off and a nice hotel room that someone else will clean and make the bed in.

We do have one weekend planned in May. We're going to Bearded Theory music festival with some of our closest mates. Mum's having the boys at our house, but we are taking dd with us. We had a blast there last year and are hoping for more of the same this year. Feels like a very long way off though.

intothewest · 28/01/2011 22:56

Purple- I like the sound of a 4 star hotel- I think I need a break-!

moosemama · 28/01/2011 22:58

Into, I don't reckon its more difficult, just different.

To be fair, the pair of them have been absolutely golden while ds was away. I was determined to make sure I praised and rewarded them as often as possible and they were so proud of themselves when I told dh how good they'd been. Grin

Just realised I am single handedly filling this thread. Ahem! I seem to have verbal/digital diarrhoea this evening, but I guess that's what you get for being on your own with a two year old day in day out. Blush

devientenigma · 28/01/2011 22:58

lol purple...enjoy Sunday and pmsl, however rispeck back Wink

devientenigma · 28/01/2011 22:58

moose, thanks x

DayShiftDoris · 28/01/2011 22:59

Hi again

Scally has been cough - asthma - first time in years and the inhalers make him hyper! Deep joy!

No holidays here - I completely refuse to pay the same amount for the 2 of us as a family of 4 would pay. And as for single parent holidays - what sort of single parent has £1k to spend on a holibob???

moosemama · 28/01/2011 23:05

Hi Dayshift, sorry your ds has been poorly, hope he's better soon.

We've just been looking at trying to plan our summer holiday and its not looking hopeful. Ds1 will explode if we don't go to the same place we always go in Ireland, but the ferry fares are just stupid money and its looking like we can't afford it despite having free (family) accommodation when we get there. We usually use our Tesco vouchers to pay for the ferry, but they've gone and downgraded their value at the same time the ferry companies have said vouchers can only be used agains full price fares. Hmm

Dh and I were saying we really feel like we need a break sooner rather than later, but we just can't afford it - I don't know how people do it to be honest.

intothewest · 28/01/2011 23:06

I must go to sleep now;dreaming of spas,4* hotels and holidays......

devientenigma · 28/01/2011 23:10

sweet dreams into

DayShiftDoris · 28/01/2011 23:14

Had 1 holiday that I've paid for since son was born and a couple of breaks in the UK with family.
i dont want to go away with my dad again (only hols I have been on before have been with him) because I end up cooking, cleaning and babysitting whilst my dad goes to the pub! It's like being at home!!
Don't want to go alone either!

Thats really bad news re: the ferries! Any chance DS1 will fly??

devientenigma · 28/01/2011 23:15

Hi moose, our ds is the same.....he thinks holidays are disneyland. We are not going this year, so he won't be happy. We have chose not to have a holiday to try and break the thought. It also never cost us much, though did use the family fund to cover some of it. Also the sun tokens lol

superfantastic · 28/01/2011 23:20

Night :)

moosemama · 28/01/2011 23:22

Night Into.

Dayshift, that's it isn't it. Family holidays are never holidays for Mum. I dream of staying in a hotel these days, whereas before I had the dcs I used to love camping and travelling around in our vw.

No chance of him flying I'm afraid - he's terrified at just the thought of it - we also have two dogs to take with us, which complicates things slightly.

We changed the routine in 2008 and went camping in the UK and Wales instead. Unmitigated disaster, as it was the summer we had all that terrible rain and flooding. We gave up on the first campsite after two days and Mum booked us into a hotel after three days at the next (I was five months pregnant with dd at the time). Interestingly ds really enjoyed himself and didn't mention Ireland once - until we got home and he realised we weren't going there as well!

moosemama · 28/01/2011 23:23

Right, I'm flagging here too, so I'd better be off to bed as well.

Night all, hope everyone has good weekends.

devientenigma · 28/01/2011 23:24

you too, night.

chickchickchicken · 28/01/2011 23:38

if you still here moose we take ds to wales every year to a quiet cheap campsite with 8 static caravans. ds loves it there, we even get to specify which caravan and they make a note not to move us

chickchickchicken · 28/01/2011 23:39

sorry, tired. didnt read times of post properly

auntevil · 28/01/2011 23:42

Wish i could speed read - only just been able to get back on - i left you all at page 2! Night to all that have gone to bed.
We had a different bedtime meltdown tonight - a far more usual 'it's not fair' one (that his DS3 can get to sleep before him) rather than last nights classic - the baths not big enough because my knees don't fit in and they're still dry.
Bigcar - if you're on later - good luck with the party.

Hols this year will be self catering in Italy. I love it for the most part, but yes, i still end up cooking and cleaning. We don't really have much option as all bar DH have dietary problems that need 'stuff' brought from home.

Thecarrotcake · 28/01/2011 23:48

Am going to have to catch up with this later.. Glad I amused with my horror story :o

( had a phone call about a fancy dress shin dig.. Costumes and Internet searches took a while!)

night to those heading to bed.

What are you going to go as Carrot? Did you get any good ideas? If you could squeeze into a 6 year old costume, i have a spare carrot costume. Strangely enough i also have a pea pod costume about the same age!

Thecarrotcake · 28/01/2011 23:59

a bit like this

hope link works lol

Thecarrotcake · 29/01/2011 00:13
