TomWambsgansSwans · 01/01/2025 22:43

Getting back onto SW tomorrow.

We had a Chinese last night and I went to bed feeling terrible!

Ready for some healthy food from tomorrow...

Wilma55 · 02/01/2025 08:30

Should gave said my WI this morning was at home, another half pound ON thanks to good NYE do! Back to group on Tuesday.

Did anyone get new cookery books for presents and can suggest some new recipes?

DeterminedCaz · 02/01/2025 18:05

Hi, can I join you? Started SW about 8 weeks ago. A slightly shaky start but I’ve now lost 12.5 lbs. Hoping for my stone on Monday. I’m waiting for first Body Pump post Xmas to start 😳 I’m hoping posting here will keep me motivated and to also share ideas

ListenLinda · 02/01/2025 22:51

@DeterminedCaz Welcome!
fantastic loss so far, well done!

i’m hoping for a loss this week, anything will be a bonus after last weeks maintain!

Wilma55 · 03/01/2025 10:04

Welcome @DeterminedCaz and what a great loss so far.

I'm laid up in bed with whatever this nasty bug thing is. I haven't lost my appetite but at least temptation is out of sight.

DeterminedCaz · 03/01/2025 10:16

Thank you all for the lovely welcome! My weigh in day is Monday so fingers crossed all good but I have been back on plan. I received a Pinch of Nom book for Christmas. Looking at making some soup this weekend and a Chicken Balti - if I can be bothered!🤣 I hope you feel better soon @Wilma55

ListenLinda · 03/01/2025 10:33

I've just had boiled eggs on wholemeal toast.
Going to make a lasagne for tea and syn the white sauce.
Weigh in at 9.30am tomorrow.
I've worked from home last 2 days and not left the house so hoping that doesnt work against me, but back the office 2 days next week and school runs, I will be more active for sure!

Doddler · 03/01/2025 18:20

I weigh in on a Saturday. I had a gain of 1lb on Christmas week. I was hoping for a maintain. Maybe a maintain this week.

I've lost 7lbs in 5 weeks. If I keep that up then I'd be happy enough!

29.5lbs - 34.5lbs is my internal goal but it's been a long time since that weight on the scales .... and two kids so I'm going to evaluate at my club 10 which is 16lbs loss. I'll see how likely another 14lbs+ is at that point.

Blueoak · 03/01/2025 19:39

I’m returning to SW tomorrow after not weighing in across Christmas. A bit terrified as at home scales suggest a gain of 8lbs in two weeks??!! I know I need to go back but am a bit concerned at how embarrassing this is going to be. I received my 1.5 stone award just before Christmas.
I know if I don’t go back it’ll get worse (and I also don’t understand how it’s possible to have a gain that big!) but just looking for a bit of support so I do go tomorrow.

Doddler · 03/01/2025 21:53

Go. Absolutely go.

Listen. If it's a gain, take it on the chin. My friend gained 7lbs Christmas week alone.

You'll definitely not be the only one and you're still 13lbs down despite the potential gain. That's good going!

Let me know how you get on.

DeterminedCaz · 04/01/2025 10:35

@Blueoak Whatever you’ve gained you can lose again. Get back on it and you’ll feel so much better. You won’t be the only one

I’m thinking about making a Pinch of Nom balti tonight but sometimes find the SW style recipes a bit watery so hubby doesn’t enjoy them as much. I’ll report back 😀

Wilma55 · 04/01/2025 11:50

@Blueoak @Doddler did you weigh in?

Still feeling rough so got a Sainsburys carry out curry meal. Just scanned it and if i dont have any naan and just 1 bhaji its 17 syns so not too bad for a Saturday night!

OP posts:
Blueoak · 04/01/2025 11:52

Thank you to @Doddler and @DeterminedCaz - I went! 6lb gain but actually everyone was really nice and I’m so glad to get back on it again. Aiming to lose 5 of that this week but we will see 🤞🏻. I had 4.5lb loss the week before Christmas so it’s not as terrible as it might have been but am keen to shift this Christmas weight off.
Keen to hear how the Balti is! I used to find PON curries a bit watery and powdery so could do with a good recipe.

ListenLinda · 04/01/2025 13:49

Weighed in, 1lb loss this morning. Happy with that, hope for more next week.
just gone to do my weekly food shop and all the world and his wife was in Aldi!
no blueberries or raspberries, no low syn yogurts so will use the fat free greek stuff for breakfasts.
how is everyone feeling going jnto next week?
there were 5 new members in my group today 😊

DeterminedCaz · 04/01/2025 16:27

I should have checked the recipe first. Need to make a paste so I’ve done that and we’ll have the curry tomorrow. Our butcher has a January deal on sirloin steak so got some of those for tonight! Well done @ListenLinda that’s great and @Blueoak that’s really not bad at all. You’ll get rid of that in no time!

LeftyLou · 04/01/2025 16:49

Hello and Happy New Year! 🎊
It has been an absolute while since I posted on here. I just couldn't get my mojo back no matter how much I tried. Constantly restarting losing for a couple of weeks then having a gain and then losing motivation.

Anyway, I restarted again in August and was determined to be successful. Something just clicked and since then I have lost 1 stone 5 lbs. Which I'm over the moon with. I think because with a couple of gains in that time I've actually managed to keep it off. Got another just under 5 stone to go 😅

I am going to keep my progress on here from now on because I have always loved this particular thread.

I get weighed on Wednesdays so will either update on a wednesday or Thursday.

Starting weight: 15 stone 3
Current weight: 13 stone 12
Interim target No1: 13 stone 3
Overall target: 9 stone (STC)

Good luck all and hope everyone had a lovely Christmas 😊

ListenLinda · 04/01/2025 18:34

That’s fantastic @LeftyLou ! Well done on your loss so far!

i may do my weigh ins like you, I think it may help seeing them written down like that 😊

Doddler · 04/01/2025 20:54

Well done all!

I lost 1.5lbs this week. So overall loss of 0.5lbs for the festive period. I can cope with that.

I would love to reach my club 10 in the next 4 weeks. It's only 7.5lbs away, she says 🤣

They say manifestation helps right so I need 3 x 2lb losses and 1 x 1.5lbs.

Here's hoping 🤞🏻

suki1964 · 05/01/2025 08:52

Happy New Year to you all

You are all doing so well, esp getting straight back on track after Christmas

Ive been maintaining since last December - it yo-yos a bit but normally keep in range. Did have a spell of going it alone, and that ended up with an eight pound gain, which Ive been slowly chipping away at since November

Gained again over Christmas - as you do - but managed a loss over the new year, and as of yesterday I was just a pound over top of range so fingers crossed that it comes off this week

Curry recipes - I use the Hairy Bikers curry book - they are so easy. The chicken tikka masala is just lush and every recipe is so easy to make syn free

All their curries have onions as the base sauce. So I cook them with a splash of water in the microwave till soft before I add them to the frying pan with spray oil, to add garlic , ginger, and spices to cook out. Now some of the curries need a darker onion to get a good flavour, I put the soft onions in a dish, spray - air fry till right colour achieved - stirring every few mins

So everyone who likes a thick and tasty curry - give it a try, Also partial to a keema curry, cant always get 5% mince, its ok - Ill use turkey or chicken - comes out as good. Curries asking for cream - I ignore the cream and stir in a bit of yoghurt and again, I start with a third of a can of coconut milk and adjust. Sometimes I can get away with it, other times no it needs the full can

I also make up a red lentil Dahl most weeks to keep in the fridge for whenever Im starved and need filling. I use this recipe https://veggiedesserts.com/red-lentil-dahl/. To cut the syns, I use just one third of a can of light coconut milk - try for taste and add more if you want more , and again soften the onions in the microwave. To up the veg, Ill add sweet potato or squash. If Im storing it in the fridge for lunches, I dont add the spinach until I reheat, that way no slimy spinach. That recipe will give four main portions or 6 lunch portions so what few syns used are spread.

@ListenLinda dont walk past the frozen Berries, they are excellent value and actually have taste. At the moment with this cold weather, Im microwaving them till the juice bubbles before stirring in my oats then adding my yoghurt. Makes a lovely evening snack as well. Summer, I just let defrost over night

Easy Lentil Dahl (dal, dhal)

This is seriously the Best Red Lentil Dahl recipe! It's a tasty easy 1-pot restaurant-style Indian dhal curry that's ready in just 25 mins.

LeftyLou · 05/01/2025 15:06

@ListenLinda thank you 😊
Even with how much I have got left to loose it's amazing how great I already feel.

I am also taking my measurements but doing them once every four weeks roughly.

Think I will look up those curry recipes. Thank you @suki1964

PieonaBarm · 05/01/2025 16:27

I weighed yesterday and then last night sat in tears on the sofa. I'm the heaviest I've been in 25 years, and have put nearly 3 of the 5 stone I lost back then, back on.

I really need to pull my finger out and get on with it, I'm less bloated today already, and feel infinitely better about myself this afternoon. If I don't sort myself out it's going to get harder as the menopause hits so I am going to do it.

Start weight 14st 2.5lb
Goal weight 11st - 11st 7lb (somewhere in that area)

LikeThatNotThat · 05/01/2025 16:36

Hi can I join you all? I'm a big fan of the slimming world plan. I joined back in 2021 and lost 2 stone and since then any time I gain a little weight (holidays etc) I know that slimming world will make sure I lose it again! I've kept the 2 stone off for nearly 4 years, with a few ups and downs in the middle...!

I gained 5lb over the Christmas break. Back on plan tomorrow (today is my anniversary so went out for lunch!) and I'm confident I will have lost the 5lb by February 😊

Gonna make a pasta salad to take to work tomorrow and dinner will be veggie and tofu stir fry.

Slimming World is such a good plan, really helps me with healthy eating, lots of cooking from scratch and fruit and veg, and always always works 😃

DeterminedCaz · 05/01/2025 19:20

Welcome @LikeThatNotThat and well done for keeping your weight off.

I promised I’d report back on the Balti - it was OK. Not too watery but still not brilliant. I might have a look at Hairy Dieters recipes. I went swimming today so feeling good. I’m hoping to get 1.5lbs off tomorrow to get my stone but I’m worried I might have a delayed Xmas gain as I got away with it last week and lost a lb.
