Anybody know if there are any free joining vouchers about or do they get enough newbies not to bother.

Big marketing campaign at the moment. Not 100% sure but a lot of groups are cutting the joining fee for January starters - but that's individual consultants - not nationwide and the nationwide one is buy 6 / 12 weeks - pay for 5/11 and get a free cookbook

When I was losing, I found a 6 or 12 week really concentrated my mind

What's your BMI? I got my first 12 weeks free on the NHS. Just self-referred, gave my weight and height, and got a voucher.

BMI 28
My friend was refused the voucher and is alot heavier than me so never crossed my mind to ask.

Saw a paper today with free joining, think it was Express, sorry too late anyway.

Quick weigh in this morning, 1.5 on, so not too bad. Bought 6 week countdown even though target member as now 9lb over goal.

Pork pie for lunch but left the pastry!

It was a 1.5 on for me too this week. I weighed in a day early too based on how it worked this week.

I have now put on exactly 1 stone since October. So going to really push myself this week. I've got a 6 week countdown. Its my birthday in 8 weeks. Would it be too much for me to try and get the 1 stone off and a bit more in that time frame? I mean I don't want to deprive myself but I know some can lose 3 or 4 a week.

FishPie2 · 30/12/2025 20:26

SW leader in my area has announced tonight that all of January is free joining so will be there on Saturday, looking forward to new instructions. I have also put on a stone since I was last there a couple of years ago and really need to get if off to get back into the clothes that are in the wardrobe with labels still on them.

It’s definitely doable to get over a stone off in eight weeks.
And good for you to have your birthday on which to focus and visualise how you want to feel and look on that day.
I’m a longtime SW member at target.

suki1964 · 01/01/2026 15:18

Swip into 2026?

LeftyLou · 01/01/2026 17:08

Happy New Year all 🎊

Thankyou @fishfingerbutty that is encouraging to know 😊

I'm going to buy myself a lovely new food diary. I have one that I havent used yet so think I will but I love those ones with stickers etc. Just need to make sure I use it and not give up with it half way through. I think I will also use the planner on the app more.

My stats for 2026

Starting weight 12 stone 9.5
First goal weight -8lbs by the end of January/beginning of February

Good luck all!

Morning all just checking in. I weigh on Tuesday with a 1.5lb Xmas gain which I’m hoping to drop by next week.

I had a depressing experience in a changing room the other day - first time in years and literally nothing looked nice, I’m horribly wobbly and overweight still and it did shock me back onto plan! I’ve got 2 stone to target so not huge and did think I’d feel differently but clearly not. I’ve been yo-young a bit this last 6 months and only lost a stone in this time so really determined to get this weight shifted and sort myself out.

My aim is 2 stone by 1st June which is 1.5lbs a week with 2 weeks grace. It’s ambitious but I need it to be. I’ve also become ridiculously inactive and feel really stiff so need to get myself motivated to more - I walk quite a bit it’s more stretching and strength that has fallen by the wayside that I need to address. I actually have a free gym membership through work that is about 5 minutes from my house so no excuse - I’ve booked into a couple of classes so hoping I can find one or 2 I enjoy enough to make a regular habit.

@fishfingerbuttyour group is much quieter than I remember and I was helping the consultant pack away and she was saying it’s been a really tough year for lost of them with nowhere near the same number of new members coming through which is quite possibly due to WLI.

radiantorange · 17/01/2026 11:25

It’s been a wee while since I posted. I weighed in today with a 3lb loss and I’m at target!! Well, i’m 1lb under target! It’s taken 14 months but I did it. I shifted 3 stone and 1 pound. I’m going to sit here for a while. Then think I’ll adjust my target to try for another 1 stone off but there’s no rush now. I already feel so much better in myself. So however long it takes and as frustrated as you might be - keep going. It’s hard but I always say to my 2 friends ‘it’s a marathon, not a sprint’ 💛
