Sorry to hear about your BIL @Suki1964 .

I've started cutting hi fi bars into 6 and wrapping in old sweet wrappers or tin foil, nice substitute for a chocolate and half a syn. A little chocolate hit. Am I a Saddo?

Thankyou

And no, you are not a saddo at all, you do what you need to do to protect your weight loss

Hippywannabe · 14/12/2025 21:32

Lost 1 1/2 this week, need 1lb this week to get my 1 1/2 stone award. May have drunk 100 syns worth of Baileys yesterday though so am going to be totally strict from now until Thursday.

lechatnoir · 15/12/2025 22:53

That is such a good idea @Wilma55I can easily scoff 6 quality street without even noticing.

weigh in tomorrow and still managing to stick at it with the odd Xmas party blip along the way but do need to keep checking in a bit more

Mash88 · 16/12/2025 07:18

I love that idea @Wilma55

Can I ask what does everyone do with Christmas Day. Try and stay on top of syns, have a blowout and think it’s only one day. Or enjoy themselves and face the music come weigh in on January.

Im sticking(ish) to plan. Had a holiday, shark week and then my birthday…and having a small gain and maintains which I’m happy with. Now I’ve 3 Christmas get togethers in a week, I’m just looking at inspiration for the upcoming festivities as this will be my first Christmas following SW.
I personally will not be denying myself across these meals, but won’t be going overboard and eating or drinking for the sake of it.

Hippywannabe · 16/12/2025 07:38

I will be having anything that I fancy on Xmas day. I seem to be in a better mindset now. We were at MIL'S at the weekend which involved a big breakfast out and last night, my son popped on to invite us to the pub with the family. Both times I could have made much better choices! However, I have taken the attitude that it is 1 meal out of 21 for the week and that has helped me to not just dive headfirst into Xmas goodies.
So, Xmas will be just one day. Thinking of this journey as a one way ticket really has helped me.

suki1964 · 16/12/2025 11:45

@Mash88 , Im pretty lucky over Christmas at home because its just us three oldies here and DH doesnt like Christmas pudding / cake etc and mum is of the age where everything disagrees with her so there's not a lot of "extras" bought in. For us its all about the dinner and I do as I have always done, roasties in goose fat, 2 or 3 different stuffings, honey glaze ham, butter baste my turkey and cover in streaky bacon and use the juices for the gravy. There will be wine and baileys imbibed with impunity - over the two days - and guess what? My weigh in is on Saturday morning 8am lol

But as I say it's all about the proper food for us , we dont have " party food " to wade through, usually dinner is the only thing we will eat that day. Mum gets her chocolates which she will tuck into but there's no tubs of chocolates lying about the house shouting eat me. I find being at work the danger zone - our customers have been dropping in the chocolates and biscuits for a week now and then the staff will bring in their leftovers after Christmas

This is my third SW Christmas - the 2nd maintaining. `I fight hard to get to my lowest allowed weight before Christmas - target minus 3lb - so I have the leeway to relax. So this week Im eating mostly speed and doing my best to avoid the staff room in work :)

lechatnoir · 16/12/2025 22:20

I will have sw friendly breakfast - eggs of some sort- and making some lighter/free canapés. Lunch is definitely
off plan - full Christmas lunch cooked by DH who most definitely won’t be using spray oil Grin
From there it won’t be pretty but key is moving on and getting back on it the next day and getting some exercise in even if it’s just a dog walk. I’ve got all the off plan meals written in my diary and there’s only 6 over the week between weigh-in - not great and will see a gain but if I can stick to just those and add in some speed meals it shouldn’t be too awful.

I did have a happy & rather unexpected 3lb off today and hoping for 1lb next week to get my stone award.

Hippywannabe · 18/12/2025 22:17

3lbs off this week and got my 1 1/2 stones certificate. Have lost 1 stone and 9lbs since joining 7 weeks ago.

Mash88 · 20/12/2025 07:00

Well done on the loss @Hippywannabe thats amazing. I do love that mindset of 1 meal out of 21.

@suki1964 my weigh in is also on a Saturday at 8.30am so will face the music today and then brave it next week on 27th and what will be will be. My house is just my partner and dog so we don’t tend to go overboard with buying sweets, choccies etc for Christmas. It will be the dinner and the cheese board afterwards.

Thats a great loss @lechatnoir just in time for the festivities. I shall be doing the same with a SW breakfast and healthier snacks but I won’t be changing anything on my roast. I am also hoping for a loss today to steer me into good habits this week.

suki1964 · 20/12/2025 15:25

Well done @lechatnoir and @Hippywannabe , great results both of you

@Mash88, there were a lot less bums on seats today , lets hope its just the Christmas madness that's kept them away, and not people not coming because they have gone overboard and thinking to themselves they have blown it

Im a pound over target ( still in range ) today, and whilst Im not where I was aiming to be, Im happy enough. . With what's happening , eating has been the last thing on my mind, Im either not eating so then finding the choccies hard to resist in work, and the meals Ive been making have had an element of ready meals about them instead of cooking from scratch. So I know where it's coming from but this is where I am at the moment. I have a couple of good days, then I have huge crashes and am in floods of tears and barely functioning.

Non scale win today. was in the hairdressers and got too hot so stepped outside for some fresh air. When I was getting my cut hairdresser said the lady she was doing before me had asked who I was cos she sort of recognised my face. So hairdresser said who I was and places she might have known me from, apparently it worked out she knew me from the Wednesday Night SW I used to go to back in 2022. The woman said " wow hasn't she done so well - all the weight I lost I put back on " As I said to my hairdresser - and there's where she went wrong, she stopped going.

So Merry Christmas everyone, remember Christmas in just one week out of 52, enjoy yourselves but do go face the scales and dont let a gain undo all the work you have done so far . Suck it up, draw a line and back on track

Mash88 · 23/12/2025 07:11

Weighed in on Saturday and managed to lose a pound. I was hoping for slightly more but a loss is a loss.
Merry Christmas everyone and see you all on the other side of this week.

Hippywannabe · 23/12/2025 11:32

Weighing in later today and telling myself that a maintain is ok because it is only 5 days since I last weighed. (Secretly hoping for a loss though!)

Wilma55 · 23/12/2025 20:13

Half off last week but 1.5 on today. At least I faced the scales. It was weigh and go so no meeting. I heard that from next year target members will have to weigh every 4th week, won't affect me for a while!

Have a lovely Christmas everyone x

ETA we need a new thread title for next year.

3lbs off so 26lbs in total since 5th November.

Am planning on being off plan tonight, tomorrow and Boxing Day then ultra on plan until weigh in on 2nd January.

TeaRose29 · 24/12/2025 11:21

Hello everyone, can I join? I got to target about six years ago, but I haven’t been to SW for years. I’ve pretty much maintained, but I put on a few pounds following a trip in October, and I just haven’t been able to shift it, so am now 5 pounds over my goal weight. I’m planning to join a group after Christmas, and I’m interested to see what the new plan looks like. I need a structure and some support, both IRL and online!

Anotherdayattheforum · 24/12/2025 19:43

Anotherdayattheforum · 26/11/2025 08:57

Help and encouragement needed please 🫩. I am 2lb away from target and this would JUST get me inside a BMI of healthy weight 24.8. I am 63. I just cannot shift this last 2lb. I am really conscious of the principles of SW and apply, and the unconscious ways of miscalculating intake, ie, the syns. I am again going to keep a true food and activity

I am interested in the personal tweaks people have made in order to reach and maintain a healthy BMI and target post-menopause. Thanks in advance.

By eck! Hit target. After weeks of 1/2lb on, 1/2lb off, yesterday 2 1/2lbs off and a pound below target. Perseverance works. Keep the faith slimmers. Indeed, nothing tastes better than a healthy BMI!

fishfingerbutty · 25/12/2025 15:50

I’ve noticed that attendance has dropped during the last few months. There’s never a long weigh in queue anymore since the advent of weight loss injections.
Be interesting to see if there is the usual surge in membership in the New Year.

LeftyLou · 25/12/2025 18:57

Wanting to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope you have all had a great day.

My consultant had an open weigh in yesterday and apparently there were around 70 people who went. Not bad for a Christmas Eve.

The group has got fewer people as it's got closer to Christmas. However my normal weigh in time is 730PM and it is fairly less busy than the early groups.

suki1964 · 25/12/2025 18:59

Absolutely fantastic @Anotherdayattheforum . My weight loss is always half a pound or a pound, but I gain at 2 pounds lol. So two years down the line I still have to keep it in check

@fishfingerbutty , over the years I notice a huge increase of bums on seats during October/November and then a huge decrease 2nd week of December . Picks up again end of January when everyone has eaten all their Christmas supplies

A lot of people think they have blown it over christmas and are embarrassed to come back, rather then facing the scales and working on whatever damage is percieved

We have members using the injections , all the power to them, they still need the support and mindset

suki1964 · 27/12/2025 13:18

Weigh in and I stayed the same - thankfully

Quite a few turned up today - and it was below freezing and the roads were lethal so a surprising amount made it in

New books but the new talk is next week

Do use the bar code scanner a lot more over the coming weeks as some items have different allowances

ListenLinda · 27/12/2025 16:51

Weighed in this morning, picked up my new book and we had a sticker party, stayed for the group talk as our consultant ran through the whole shebang

I forgot to ask about the healthy extras, i.e can you pick and mix or can I have three ‘a choices’ if i really wanted to?

very excited to get going again, been so slack in the run up to my dsis wedding & christmas but im half way to target and would be fab to get their before our big family holiday in May.

4lb on, will get that off in 2 weeks no issue i hope 😊

are we having a new thread for 2026?

IlovetoKnitandRead · 27/12/2025 17:18

Difficult 6 weeks here with family illnesses and hospital trips. I weighed in today and 7lb on. I am not surprised as I have been eating, snacking, drinking Baileys and having meals out. Christmas food us finished for me and I am back on track today. It took guts to weigh myself , so I am feeling proud.

FishPie2 · 27/12/2025 20:52

Anybody know if there are any free joining vouchers about or do they get enough newbies not to bother.

Mash88 · 27/12/2025 21:19

Weigh in for me this morning - 3.5lbs on. Nobody in group lost. Not worried about the gain, had a fantastic week with family and friends and would do it all over again. Only 9 stayed for the session. Got our new books so scanning through that.

I’ve got a lot of gifted sweet stuff in the house (which will be taken into work on Monday to share). It’s all the cheese in the fridge that I need to stop eying up. Other than that I’m excited to draw the line and am craving fresh food.

Well done to everyone weighing in this week.
