Just marking a place. Rejoined a group at the beginning of November at my heaviest ever, lost about 10lbs and haven't been since the beginning of December. I have some weeks left on my countdown so going back tonight.
I haven't gone mad over Xmas but did before we broke up (TA in a Primary school). I have studiously avoided the scales so have no idea what tonight will bring.

Rookie93 · 06/01/2025 07:22

Can I join in please? Have managed to loose 1.5 stone since August but have a long way to go to make my interim target loss of another 3 stone. Been away over Christmas and haven't been back to group yet, next session is Wednesday. Finding attending group helpful to help me stay on track, but not looking forward to WI as bound to have put at least 7lb back on.

DeterminedCaz · 06/01/2025 10:49

Weigh in this morning and 2lb lost. Really pleased with that and given me the motivation to carry on

PippasPantry · 06/01/2025 12:04

I've been an online member for some time .... but my lack of accountability is shocking. I did play at it for a while pre Christmas and did well, but over the last 2+ weeks, no holds barred, I've gone for gold in the eating and drinking stakes.

So, without further ado, I've started in earnest today and I'm going to join an actual group tomorrow. 8 weeks today I have a beautiful beach holiday and I'm aiming to be at least one stone down by then !

Thank you for the thread, I do really appreciate the online support. Looking forward to joining you all and supporting each other along the way !

RedPony1 · 06/01/2025 12:40

Reset week for me! SW group weds night, first weigh in of the year and it will defo be a gain. But i'm accountable.

Hippywannabe · 06/01/2025 22:04

Weighed in and stayed the same! Last weigh in was the last week of November so am pleased with that.
The staff room at school was full of treats but I didn't have any.
Feeling very positive and my SW tiktok account hit 200 followers. That must be a sign to keep on track.
Has anyone got a fabulous meal recipe to share? I have a lot of huge baking potatoes left after Xmas so any potato recipes would be handy.

tealightning · 07/01/2025 10:13

Hello, I'd like to join. I was slightly horrified to discover this morning that I've gained 5.5 lbs over Christmas. I've been steadily gaining weight over the past year so now is the time to take action!

Wilma55 · 07/01/2025 13:49

Welcome all, returners and newbies. Hope we can keep this thread active and supportive all year.

Didn't go for WI as still under the weather but here are my "stats"

SW 11.10
TW 10.7 🎯
CW 11.2 ? home scales

Hello! Can I join? A longtime member of mumsnet (circa 2006?) but don’t post a huge amount anymore. I joined SW in November and in 11 weeks have lost 1st 5. I put 1.5lb on Christmas week but lost it all this week so I’m really happy. Off scale victories is a whole dress size down which was amazing over Christmas, and I have 1.5stone to go to my interim target (I set 3 stone to begin with but will possibly do more)

I’ve lost weight before, but doing Cambridge. Kept it off thanks to exercise and naturally lower carb for a good few years. Sadly getting sick from covid and then getting arthritis meant that the weight piled on, and I started at the heaviest I had ever been in my life. But I’m feeling positive today, really happy with how slimming world has fitted my life and my family and really feel like I could legitimately stick to this one for life.

so hi!

LeftyLou · 08/01/2025 12:34

Hi to all newbies ☺️

I am not going to group this evening, what with the weather. I thought about going to a nearer one to me just to get weighed but it's still going a bit farther out then I would like. My group I go to is 40 mins drive on a good day. Not going out if I don't need to. A privilege of WFH.

So I decided to use home scales. It is saying I have lost 1 lbs so I am taking that. 😊 Right on plan for me losing half a stone for my birthday!

Good luck for all who are weighing in and stay safe!

MidnightBloom · 08/01/2025 14:07

Hi can I join?

I joined online and got the books etc at the start of March 2020 then because of life events never done it. Starting SW today doing it at home myself because I have no groups near me. Aiming to lose two stone.

ChocolateTea · 08/01/2025 17:20

Well done Lefty! I’m lucky that my group is at the end of my road, however I have been late more than once because of commuting back from work - thankfully my leader is great and let’s me stay and then weigh at the end. Glad you got your 1lb :-)

hi Midnight! Have you rejoined on line or just using the stuff you already have? We can be your virtual group :-)

LikeThatNotThat · 08/01/2025 17:40

I made overnight oats for the first time. Oh my gosh, YUM! HexB for oats, then I used a strawberry Muller light (which I think is half a syn?) and then frozen raspberries, strawberries and blueberries.
It was so tasty and filling!
Just about to cook chilli and rice for dinner (syn free) 😃
So far I've had just half a syn today.

How's everyone else's day been?

ChocolateTea · 08/01/2025 18:23

Ooh great day Likethat

i cannot get on with overnight oats. The consistency just makes me go Bleurgh. I do have fat free Greek yogurt and berries every morning. Lunch is usually homemade veggie soup but I had a meeting so had a tub of leftover pasta from last night and a tub of fruit. Used my hex b in highlight bar earlier, but have another to use (2 bars for hex b) and my hex a has been milk in the form of a coffee and some tea. I’ve smacked on M&S tapas selection calamari (1/2 sun) and anchovies (1.5 sins I think) and dinner tonight I haven’t decided. Family is having teriyaki chicken and noodles but I don’t fancy it so maybe an omelette or some scrambled eggs

suki1964 · 08/01/2025 18:33

@LikeThatNotThat , I live off overnight oats, absolutely love them, only they have never been overnight. Last year I was working 12 to 4 ( no break ) so made them in the morning and took into work with me, ate as and when during the shift, now Im early starts 6 till 10, I make them when I come in - and now this cold weather, Im actually nuking the berries till they are hot, mixing with the oats, then putting the yoghurt on top. I eat them at night when Im fancying a snack

I make my own yoghurt, its so thick its like clotted cream and really makes for a luxurious treat - but its free . I also buy the light and free in lemon - so refreshing for a wee mix up :)

Yep Im a huge fan of them. When Im maintaining I use muesli , the wee bit of dried fruit and nuts through it as well makes for a really nice dish

Ive had a good week so far - all meals on plan, no alcohol, and only the very odd syn'd treat - a Cadbury rose or a wee marshmallow , nothing major

The cold and snow is helping. Ive 3 different vegetable syn free soups made so everyone is catered for and dinners have been hearty stew types - lots of free and speed being eaten and when theres lots of gravy, plain boiled potatoes arent a hardship :)

Im just here waiting for the dinner to cook tonight, roast chicken dinner - free. I roast all the veg in the air fryer and it really does make very good roasties , not got a lot of green veg as I wasnt driving into town, our roads arent gritted out this far and the local shop had nothing, but Ive a bit of broccoli here and peas will do along with the parsnips and carrots

As I knew I was going to be short on the green stuff, lunch was a huge salad on a slice of bread with sliced chicken and hardboiled egg and a bowl of leek and potato soup

I always have a hearty lunch because Im up from 5 and dont eat till I get in, by which time Im ready to eat a scabby horse

Pre SW, Id make a sandwich and a packet of crisp, then be hungry again about four, go make another sandwich, then wouldn't want my dinner - pick around it - then of course hungry again at 10 so more bread and biscuits

ChocolateTea · 08/01/2025 19:18

Suki I love hearing others routines and how it works for them. I only have carbs (potatoes, rice, pasta) once a day, usually my evening meal, so that works for me.

I love homemade soup - what are your recipes? I went for soup tonight because I needed a batch for tomorrow for lunch. Red pepper and tomato with chilli. The next one on the rotation is butternut squash and sweet potato.

MidnightBloom · 08/01/2025 20:28

Hi @ChocolateTea not going to join online just using my books. Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to getting to know this group.

LikeThatNotThat · 08/01/2025 20:48

Ooh yes I love soup! I have a soup maker which I use a lot, I just bung stuff in and press go 😃 I'm sure it's not as tasty as if I seasoned and fried off and lovingly added to taste etc... but I've not yet made a soup I didn't like 😊
I also make the SW katsu sauce in it, delicious.

Wilma55 · 08/01/2025 20:48

Wow you are all making me feel guilty! Just been to a meeting about a proposed railway which will lead to demolition of part of our street - succumbed to fish and chips afterwards.

Tomorrow is another day....

Hello would like to join
Lost 1.5 stone to get from 11st 10 to 10st 4 target 18 months ago. Maintained it more or less for a year ish but Got back up to 11st 6 in the Autumn after a stressful summer of house renovation/living in airbnb/ no kitchen at home.

Bit of on/off SW in Nov and Dec got me down to 10st 12 but put 4lb back on over christmas. Back in weekly group now, 9lb to get back to target, here we go

current weight 11st 2
target 10st 7 (10st 4 not really feasible in long term)
9 lb to go.

whats this about katsu sauce? 🤤

fierybrunette · 08/01/2025 21:05

Hi, I just joined this evening. Got about 5 stone to lose 💪

Fatloss · 08/01/2025 21:06

Hi
I haven’t signed up and haven’t done SW before. There are no groups I could get to in my area. if you are online only is there a forum to chat or get ideas? I’ve done WW before but only F2F and the online was rubbish (though might have improved)

I did ask this on the main board but adding here as you actually do SW.
sorry for barging in.

Sosocold · 08/01/2025 21:30

Hello! Can I join? I'm a SW newbie having signed up last week. Weighed in today and have lost 2lb.
Not sure whether that's good/average/not great for week 1, but I'll take it as I have found limiting the syns really tough...

suki1964 · 08/01/2025 21:35

@ChocolateTea and @LikeThatNotThat , soup is just the bomb :) I was ( still am in a way ) your original veg dodger so soup it is

I have a Ninja 15 in 1 that I make my soups in, so quick ( its what I make my yoghurt in as well ) I roast off the veg in it when doing something like red pepper and sweet potato , then add the stock, deglazing the bottom of the pot, turn it to PC, 5 mins later its done and I just use a hand blender to blitz. Mr S likes a traditional broth so I start by Pc'ing the barley, then adding the chopped veg and stock, pc again for 5 mins - done. With that one if Ive the odd chicken thigh shoved in the freezer - in it goes and gets shredded through . Over the past week Ive made vats of leek and potato ( more leek then potato , it thickens overnight ) broccoli and stilton , broth, and curried parsnip

I use this seasoning to make my stock, its soooooo good
https://uk.foodplus.eu/en_GB/p/Kucharek-Dishes-Seasoning-200g/22616 I get it from Tesco

As for carbs, I dont avoid them. Most are now vegetable carbs, bread is rare now and when I do have it - wholemeal pitta . Rice and pasta is now wholemeal and brown. I like brown rice, has a nutty flavour .When I do eat carbs I eat them with loads of veg, something Ive taken on board with SW. Then last night I was watching something on C4 about glucose and insulin and the effects on your body and the advice they were giving was dont eat your carbs naked - always have veg and protein with them - stops the spiking, stops insulin storing the glucose as fat

Evening all 😊 it’s been an interesting couple of days, with the weathee!
managed to stay on plan, but the kids got soooo much chocolate over christmas & its all in their christmas boxes on the work top…
I managed to resist until 7.30pm tonight when I may have snaffled a Wispa from one of DS selection boxes….
